Let me preface this by saying I have frequented this family owned restaurant for years without any issues and have enjoyed their food but as of today I will NEVER be back. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla, something l've eaten from here on at least more than a handful of occasions prior. My teen points out they left the tails on the shrimp, I open it up and sure enough there they are all with tails. I alert my server who takes it back to the kitchen, brings it back and says "They said that's how it comes" I politely push back and reaffirm I've never gotten them like that from here before but I'll order something else if they'd like. She takes it back to the kitchen where someone picks off the tails and brings it right back not even a full minute later, I send it back telling my server I'm not eating that. I'm 9month pregnant and this place literally wants me to choke and die on hard shrimp tails. I go to check out and they ring all of it up as if ate that, I ask why and they said the owner said to charge me for it because I touched it. They refuse service to a military veteran with a service dog that service dog. That was with her grandmother. All military veterans and family should refuse to eat there. One of the quickest visits I have ever had at a Mexican Restaurant! Stopped by this place for a quick meal. It looked like they were closing soon, but they sat us. Ordered drinks and some queso and she gave us chips and salsa. I grab a chip and dip it in the salsa... only for my daughter to look at me and say....."there are ants all inside the chips!" And I looked at the basket and there sure was. AFTER I ALREADY ATE A DANG CHIP!! We for up and left... Never again. read more

They have the best homemade menudo. They also make their corn and flour tortillas which have good flavors. I also love their beans they are so tasty. This is authentic Mexican food. Their pork in red Chile sauce called Guindo is delicious with the tortillas it's just awesome!! They have a variety of tacos which I love many of them such as the barbacoa, carne guisada, nopalitos and egg and potato and bacon. Good prices too. They have great staff and waiters and waitresses. Had a breakfast date here on Sat. It was very clean and we picked a table where we could watch the news. The waitress was very friendly and answered all of the questions that we had. My date got a bacon taco and I got migas with corn tortillas. We asked for chips and salsa to go with it. The salsa was good, but the chips were terrific! They were obviously homemade. We asked the waitress about them and it turns out that she makes them. She beamed when we told her how much we liked them. The bacon taco was very good and the migas were great as well. The tortilla strips in the migas were homemade as well and stayed crunchy the whole meal. I gave the bacon slices from my migas to my date and her taco overflowed. I enjoyed the migas so much, I forgot about the tortillas until I was almost done. The corn tortillas were thick and soft and excellent. Very unique. We'll be back! read more

We stopped here while detouring around the people driving 10mph below the speed limit on I-10. This place was the only Mexican food open on a Sunday evening. The chips were great and appeared to be made in house. They were not greasy as others have said. The salsa was good, not my favorite, but not the worst by far. I was thoroughly disappointed in the beef taco. The "meat" had the same consistency and texture as Taco Bell (at moments I do love hogging down some Taco Bell). The meat did not taste nearly as good as that of Taco Bell and just seemed a bit like from a can. The other foods were ok...nothing great, but nothing terrible either. Overall I would stop here before I starved but not if another option was open. read more

Quick stop in Luling for us in route to Houston. We were looking to grab some breakfast and L&S hit the spot. My husband had tacos, said carne guisada had good flavor and the tortillas were homemade fresh. I had the pancake plate with bacon. This is my second time here and disappointed again. Will not be returning. The first time I ordered a torta de milanesa and the meat was so tough it was impossible to chew! Milanesa is suppose to be thin and super tender. Today, my cheesy enchiladas were covered in Velveeta cheese. Unbelievable. I was expecting at least cheddar cheese. My husband's menudo was terrible as well. It did not look like menudo more like a stew. We left without finishing our meals. This is my favorite restaurant close to my home. The food is always fresh and delicious and the place is laid back, friendly and clean. The price is always a bargain. They have big, full tacos for 99 cents before 10 a.m. with green and red hot sauce. Today for a late lunch, I ordered their chicken fried steak plate. The steak covered two-thirds of the big oval plate, with fries and a salad. The plate was only $7.50 and I opted for a large iced tea, which I had refilled twice in the 44-oz to-go cup. I could only eat half of the steak and it was delicious. I took the rest home in a to-go container, along with their fine homemade tortilla chips that came with it. If you have a hankering for tasty Mexican or even American food, I recommend L & S, right next to the H.E.B. grocery. They bend over backwards to make sure your visit is satisfactory. read more

Do not eat at this place!! My brother my nephew and myself stop to get breakfast here. We got six tacos total potato egg and cheese no bacon no sausage. Two glasses of water to go one iced tea to go. That was the extent of our order. Went up to pay after we ate and left a $5 tip went to the front register to pay the tab. He started ringing it up tacos were $2.75 I believe which is not too bad then he started punching $0.50 another fifty cents another $0.50 then $2.25 I asked him wait a minute what's all that?? He told me water inlet to go cup is $0.50. the iced tea is 225 plus another 50 cent far the to go cup. I asked him are you kidding me $2.75 for a glass of iced tea. I cannot believe they charged $0.50 a piece or little to-go cups which probably cost 4 or five pennies . the food it was not bad it was good I will say that. Overpriced yes. Tacos had one glob of cheese right in the middle of the taco so your first bite and last night had no cheese that all but your middle bite was nothing but cheese. I know this is a very long review. I have been here twice, once for breakfast and once for dinner. Both times, my brother and I were seated quickly. Breakfast was GREAT! We each ordered the "special" which consisted of 2 breakfast tacos, that day they were potato and egg. The total that day was just over $7 for 2 people. The next time we came, it was dinner time and the restaurant was almost empty. It took us a little while to figure out what we wanted, but since they give chips and salsa, I didn't perish while making up my mind. My brother ordered the double meat burger without cheese, no vegetables and I ordered a combo plate with 1 enchilada and 1 taco. When we got our order, there was cheese on his burger along with veggies. He simply picked the veggies off and ate it anyway.He was only able to eat about half of it at the time, it was so big. I was not impressed with the taco.The meat was very greasy and slimy. The enchilada had a good flavor and the rice and beans were very good. We were in the area and were hungry and saw this restaurant nearby so decided to stop. We ordered drinks and my husband asked if they had a certain drink and the waiter pointed at their drink fridge and said that's what we have, & we were no where near the fridge to see exactly what they had. We ordered a small queso and asked if she could give us two baskets of chips as we were 4 hungry people & she said sure and only brought one basket. We ordered mixed fajitas with shrimp, beans & cheese nachos, & a torta. When we received our order we only got beef & shrimp fajitas. The torta bread was hard and was falling apart as if it was old. The food here is bland and the fajitas are way too thin. My husband asked for a receipt to see the break down for each item as we felt it was overpriced for the quality. They only gave him a receipt of what was paid. We stopped on the way home at a taco stand as this food was not good and neither appealing. I've been going there for a while always great service until today. I asked for the special burrito which gives you the option of three foods, I put barbacoa, eggs and potatoes. My wife asked for the same thing. Burritos are $4.75 when I went to pay my total was 25 dollars. When I asked the cashier why she stated everything I had chosen was extra keep in mind the waiter never once stated that what my wife and I were getting was extra nor did the menu say it.
