the best papaya salad I've had in Sacramento. They are always so nice once you walk in. I travel from out of town (30-40 minutes) just to get their papaya salad / sauces. I've ordered a batch of their papaya sauce from them last year and they made it fresh for me. Highly recommend for everyone or anyone who's a papaya lover and never had theirs before. Their prices are very affordable! 10/10 for me!

Really random of a spot to be selling food; especially since it's located inside a video store. Don't let it fool you though, because sometimes the most authentic and legit cultural food are hidden in gems like this. I ordered (2) Thai papaya salad and (2) nabvam. ONE of the best papaya salad I've had. And by far THE BEST nabvam I've tasted. If it wasn't so far from where I reside, I would drive here everyday. Inside of the store is really dark. I don't recall seeing any lights on; strictly on natural lighting (but it was a gloomy and rainy day). From what I can see, there seems to be a kitchen in the back where I hear them pounding and making the papaya salad. Parking is shared with other businesses. There are homeless people sleeping nearby (about 50 ft away from their entrance).

Current business hours as of 3/26/2023.

Even with the change of business owners, the papaya salad and customer service are still exceptional. I am a loyal L&L papaya girl for the last 8 or so years, and have not been disappointed (yet)! I know inflation has hit every business so what use to be $5 for papaya had now reached $7, & vermicelli noodles are up from $1, to $2, for just about the same serving size prior to pandemic. I dont mind it though when I know the quality and consistency are the same as before. They have *prized* (LoL) pickles and spicy pickle powder, boba (which - I haven't had in a while due to braces, but recall the Thai Tea being good), papaya sauce only jars to DIY yourself (I think it can yield 2-3 batches of papaya depending on how much sauce you like), really cute Hmong inspired merch and other miscellaneous things to try. I have always called ahead to order, and is usually ready by the time I get there (~10m). I have also ordered party trays of papaya in the past, and nothing ever gets left uneaten bc the papaya here is really good! They have also upgraded to card readers for payment as prior owners were cash only; very convenient. Separately, the owners are really sweet people! So, dont mind striking up a conversation with them. Peep new updated hours tho! Dont miss 'em when you have a papaya salad craving.

Papaya salad is sold at this Hmong video store. Yes, you read it right. My friend was the one that introduced me to this place. She walked up to the counter to order and stated how many peppers she wanted in it. There is someone in the back who makes it. Once they are done preparing it, it's packaged it in a clear plastic bag. A bag costs $5. It tasted fresh but I thought it had too many peanuts. I also liked drinking the liquid. The papaya salad was better than I thought it would be, but I would much rather get it from an actual restaurant/ food store. The store isn't located in the best neighborhood either.

A great hidden hole in the wall. I used to come here for years. I used to order over the phone, then pick it up and eat it during my lunch break. It would stink up my entire office! After so long, the nice man that always helped me told me they were remodeling due to code violations. I was sad, but then happy again because they got their violations fixed! However, I tried their papaya after they remodeled and they changed their recipe. I was really disappointed. The nice man behind the counter was no longer there... Today, 4/13/15, I decided to give them another try! I was ecstatic when I had that taste I longed for. It was sweet and spicy. Just how I remembered it. And now they sell boba drinks. Not sure if I would get one since there are so many other boba place out there. Their beef jerky they sell there is also pretty good. Make sure you examine the bags before you buy. If there isn't a gloss to it, the jerky has been dried out! Don't get it! They also sell dubbed videos.

My go to for papaya salad! Best in sac. Be careful of how many peppers you add .... It can be super spicy!

The papaya is delicious. The service is good! I've run unfit the business being closed on operating days, so that was a little inconvenient.

Drove over FAST, and got in the line, which wasn't horribly long. But I did have to wait 2+ hours for my ticket to return to get the console. Plus I got a few free Redbulls lol. I have to say it wasn't as bad as it was expected. The girl at the counter, was super sweet and very helpful. To preface this, I did NOT have a preorder. I was raw doggin' this on a whim to get a switch. I knew nothing of how to actually handle this whole thing, and I've never done this before. I'm glad I got in line early to make this as seamless as possible. Additionally, the workers inside were fighting for their lives with dealing with the number of people they had, let alone the demand for this release. Fast forward to 9pm. The doors opened, and the workers had us come in as groups based on the numbers they yell out. I was in n out within 15 minutes of opening and I was number 45 & 46. I was super impressed with how prepared and efficient they were. I give them 5 stars because of this being such an easy experience, and they were very professional with the launch. Good job, guys!

Never Again -- Completely Mishandled Nintendo Switch 2 Launch…read more We showed up at this GameStop today for the Nintendo Switch 2 release party, per the official GameStop email instructions. According to that, the event started at 3 PM, with pick-up for pre-orders beginning at 9 PM Pacific Time, and the potential to purchase a console without a pre-order if you arrived early enough to line up before the 3 PM event. We got there before noon to be proactive and were immediately concerned that no one else was around -- no signage, no excitement, and no staff outside. When the store opened, the clerk flatly told us, "If you don't have a pre-order, come back at 9." I mentioned the email instructions clearly said otherwise, and he just shrugged and told me to call back at 3 to "see if they had any." We decided to call another GameStop about 15 minutes away, and they were shocked -- they confirmed what we read in the email and even mentioned that they know this particular clerk and that he's done this before. A look at past Yelp reviews confirms this location has a pattern of misinformation and poor handling of release events. And the fact that nobody else was there at the store lined up means he's been telling everybody this over the phone if people have called asking questions. At some point, management needs to step in -- either retrain or replace this employee. Events like this are supposed to be fun and exciting, not confusing and dismissive. Because of this experience, we will never shop at this location, even though it's around the corner from us. We'd rather drive the extra 15 minutes to the other store that actually understands customer service and follows company protocols. Avoid this location if you're expecting any kind of organized event or competent communication.

The games were durable and held up for the event. Even though we were stalled on booking our games (due to the Venue needed to help with the layout), Luiza was still openly optimistic about helping us and in the end we got all the games we wanted. We opted for Ring Toss, Giant Checkers and Clowning Around (Bean Bag Target type of game - see photo). Except for the Giant Checkers, the prices are fairly reasonable. Please note that someone else may think that the price was reasonable...it's all subjective. Here's What I Think.... They have a ton of games from which to choose. Despite the website and all socials stating they service the West Coast and listing Seattle, WA and Portland, OR both as one of their cities, they emailed back stating that Washington was out of their service range. I emailed a screenshot of their website and asked if that was another company or perhaps only certain games, and was told the following: "For your information, our office and warehouses are located in San Francisco, CA. While we do serve the Washington, Oregon, and Nevada areas, please note that due to the extended travel distance, our minimum one-day rental for events in Washington is $18,500 plus delivery." Needless to say, I would not suggest using them.
