I called around to quite a few schools and most were booked out a month or two, which actually worked out because I still needed to finish my instrument rating. Unfortunately, after my instructor left, things kind of stalled out. I wasn't making any progress, so I called Flyers Academy and explained my situation--that I needed to get my instrument completed and wanted to move right into my multi. Omar, the owner, called me a few hours later saying we can get it done now. They were able to squeeze me in, get my instrument wrapped up, schedule a checkride, then roll right into my multi and another checkride. It was a lot of work and definitely an intense 10 days, but the entire crew was incredible. From the moment I arrived, Omar made sure I was taken care of. The operation is extremely well organized, the airplanes were clean and well maintained, and everything worked exactly as it should. The instructors genuinely care about your success and put in long days to make sure you're prepared. Most days started around 7 or 8 in the morning and went until 10 at night. I'd like to thank everyone who helped me along the way--Sam, Sunny, Mike, Dom, and especially Vivian. Vivian was an outstanding instructor and went above and beyond every day to make sure I understood everything and was fully prepared. I honestly can't say enough good things about her. Seriously, thank you again Vivian. If you're serious about getting ratings done and are willing to put in the work, I highly recommend Flyers Academy. They also have great and clean accommodations for anyone traveling in, including space if you're staying in a van, which was a huge plus for me. Thank you again to the entire Flyers Academy team. I'm incredibly relieved to have everything completed, and I'll definitely be back for my next ratings.

The majority of the time the notification of cancellation occurred the day of the scheduled lesson or even one to two hours prior to the scheduled lesson. Owner Martin Campbell will refuse to return any prepaid funds if you decide to discontinue taking lessons, regardless if the reason is medical in nature or otherwise. There were no aircraft behind it where they usually stored their 'training aircraft'. Their back door was usually open during business hours but it appeared to be closed. Their big sign in front was gone. For all intents and purposes they appeared closed for good. I saw 2 of their 'training aircraft' out on the Ramp, tied down, dirty, and appeared to be derelict aircraft, now. Sad. I was hoping they would stay and be a successful training facility. But alas, it appears that they failed and closed their facility. Does anyone else get the same impression, or have more information? When I tried to call them the phone automatically disconnected. After 4 attempts it became fairly obvious that their land-line is permanently disconnected.

They said that their pilot will call. A pilot called asking about my U.S citizenship and later offered illegal schemes for exchanging flights for weed. I do not know is it a new way of scammers but I am freaking out because their pilot keeps calling and harassing me. I blocked number but I left my address, full name and phone number on their website so I am terrified. I am this close to calling police.

The first thing the school did was try to shed any blame off themselves by suggesting/speculating intentional pilot actions. Their airplane that crashed, N5203H, was also previously totalled in 2016 but they kept flying it anyways. If you love life and care about your loved ones, I'd avoid this school. There are plenty of other schools that won't turn their back on you if you have an accident.

Understand that less than 20% of students actually achieve their PPL. The challenges are cost, availability of instructors and planes, weather, instructor objectives, personal availability, and other minor obstacles. Instruction quality can be both lacking or superior depending on who is teaching. If your goal is to get your PPL quickly, a flight school is a bad choice. Do some research before you decide. I didn't and I've spent over 4 years, $90K, and have had 5 instructors in pursuit of my PPL. If you're not in a rush and are just curious, it will work for you. It isn't easy and requires commitment. Get some guidance and explore the alternatives. Instructors have to complete your training and sign you off for your check ride. If they leave for better opportunities, you have to start over. At $300 and hour for rental and instructor cost, it gets expensive fast.
