My oil leak turns into he wants to rebuild my engine. I taxi away, Jake yells at me to not prop blast his planes. Well if it wasn't looking like a junk yard of planes on the taxi maybe I wouldn't. The textbook provided written by Burke Mees isn't bad but it did not contain the information covered by the oral examination. Their ground training is almost nonexistent so be sure to obtain and study the FAA seaplane book. Foothills Aviation is a pretty serious place with high standards for precise flying. I just fly for fun and felt out of place here. I came with 600 hrs and instrument rating and I flew with Terry and Jim and Examiner Richard Conte for 10.1 hours but still couldn't fly well enough to meet the standards. I love seaplanes and I'd like to continue flying; however I'll have to look elsewhere.

Run by an active corporate pilot (who flies business jets for living) and staffed by team of a great CFIs (flight instructors), they really get the job done: to bring you from start to the license or rating level you aim for in a minimum time and at reasonable cost. This is truly a goal-oriented approach that gets the results. Unlike many other schools where instructors are more focused on time-building (pretty much riding along on your dime), these guys really can teach and are good at that! I live in the Bay Area, and IMHO two-hour drive to Modesto for flight training is well worth it. You get the quality!

There were no aircraft behind it where they usually stored their 'training aircraft'. Their back door was usually open during business hours but it appeared to be closed. Their big sign in front was gone. For all intents and purposes they appeared closed for good. I saw 2 of their 'training aircraft' out on the Ramp, tied down, dirty, and appeared to be derelict aircraft, now. Sad. I was hoping they would stay and be a successful training facility. But alas, it appears that they failed and closed their facility. Does anyone else get the same impression, or have more information? When I tried to call them the phone automatically disconnected. After 4 attempts it became fairly obvious that their land-line is permanently disconnected.
