We were on an excursion with our cruise and they brought us to the restaurant for an incredible 4 course meal. Mountains towered around us and the serene landscape mixed with modern decor felt lavish. I enjoyed local beer with my delicious meal of Spanish cuisine. Everything was brilliantly prepared with unique flavors to match. I especially loved the roast with cherry sauce. If you find yourself in Guadalest, do visit Vivood for the outstanding landscape paired with fantastic food.

After looking at many pages on the net, we came across a place in the Eastern part of the country called Vivood Landscape Hotel. The photos and descriptions were stunning and it promised to be the place for the ultimate relaxing experience. So we booked a room for two nights. It's about 5 hours drive from Madrid, but the last one hour is a winding road through the mountains that almost made me sick. Finally we reached the hotel complex. The first thing that we noticed was the sign that said: "no children allowed". It's a good sign that here you're going to have a noise-free stay. The hotel is a pretty big area in the middle of mountains where 25 prefab houses (called suites) are situated. These buildings have metal structures on three sides and a big sheet of glass on the front. The space is very small, however you get tons of light and depending on your suite, you have a really fascinating view from one of the surrounding villages. You won't find drawers next to your bed, but the bed are king size and comfortable. The showers don't have a wall, but a window similar to the glass sheet on the bedroom. This way you don't stop enjoying the scenery while washing in the morning. Four of the suites - the ones located at the end of each route in the complex - have a little courtyard with a private Jacuzzi. Of course these ones are more expensive than the normal ones. But if you haven't chosen one of the special lodgings, you can still go to the Infinity Pool that is located next to the reception and the restaurant where they invite you to glass of champagne and some fruits everyday at sunset. Overall, everything is designed for you to get relaxed. Some days of the week there are free yoga classes. You can also arrange for a massage in your room. Ours was really great. Our masseur Cristina while being a professional was so friendly and nice. Anyway, this won't be an honest review without mentioning the weak points. So here they are: the staff are anything but professional. They are friendly and respectful but generally speaking have no idea about their job. The hotel it's supposed to be a sustainable system, but the trees and the earth inside the complex don't exactly agree. And finally the worst thing about the hotel is the price which is way too high for the service they offer.
