I decided to see the young man to whom she transferred her business and he gets less than 1-star from me. First, I exchanged 8 text messages with him before he identified that he was NOT Catherine Burns! Already a little suspect. Then when I was explaining why I had come in, he proceeded to mansplain to me why my heart rate might be elevated, that if I was concerned I should see my primary care physician, and how to take my blood pressure at home. During the treatment, while I was in the room by myself "relaxing", he was in the next room making a commotion (it sounded like those cupping cups being removed and thrown into a bin: crash, bang, clatter!) After he removed the needles and left me to collect myself, I felt a pain in my hand. There was a lump that looked like half a hard-boiled egg under my skin! When I pointed it out to him, and asked if there was anything I should be looking out for that might indicate things were getting worse, and also asked if there was anything I should do like ice or heat, the only response I got was that it was a hematoma and it was fine and it would resolve in about a day. No advice, no compassion, no bedside manner throughout the entire appointment! He did send me a text to check on me 2 days later. After I gave him an update, he continued to tell me how common this was, to which I responded that in the 40 years I've received acupuncture, and across my friends and family who receive acupuncture, we have never seen this before! To which he condescendingly asked whether any of us were medical professionals and then texted me NIH articles about the side effects of acupuncture. Then he asked how to invoice me! WOW!!! The nerve! Definitely NEVER going back! So - anyone know a good acupuncturist???

Not to mention I instantly saw and felt the results! I always leave my appointments feeling rejuvenated, and I always look forward to my next appointment with her. When I decided to see if qi gong would enhance the initial stirrings of chi from these other martial arts, I started taking classes at the Longevity center. I have to say that Arnold Tayim is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He has enormous knowledge, is highly articulate, and perhaps what distinguishes him the most is his eagerness to share that knowledge. Many of the traditional martial arts teachers, especially from Asia, have a semi macho tendency to dole out learnings slowly, insisting that students pay their dues for long periods before getting another snippet of learning. Arnold unabashedly draws from a huge array of information, from many teachers and disciplines, and communicates them very clearly, patiently, and always taking time throughout class to pause for questions (which students freely raise, allowing for a highly interactive discussion.). He even encourages students to record his verbal walkthrough of qi gong exercises so we have his guiding voice when we practice at home. I look forward to years of learning from such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable instructor.

It's amazing to experience first hand how one can create, scatter, gather, and manipulate energy, for one's betterment. Sifu Arnold is an excellent and very clear instructor who really makes sure that students are imbibing the concepts and the practice itself. He shares handouts, reviews the previous weeks' practices and slowly builds into more complex practices. He is patient, engaging and also fosters a sense of community. This class is great for anyone in the healing field who seeks to learn how to manage energy on a very minute level, as well as anyone seeking to understand how to leverage his/her energy in its optimal form.

I have received lots of…read moretypes of bodywork and Qi Gong over the years but this was by far the best healing I have ever received. I don't quite know how to put into words what happened. It involved finding stuck energy in various parts of my body, singing, bringing breath to those areas and most importantly learning tools that I can bring back into my everyday life. This description is of course like trying to capture a photo of a moment that can't quite be captured. I feel lighter. John is the real deal shaman. If you have something going on that seems stuck, both physical or emotional (of course they are related), you should give this a try. I have wanted someone to work on my psoas area for years because I know it holds trauma, I felt not only glad that someone finally knew where to work but also safe. I have also received Ayruvedic counseling from Cherie and she is very passionate about her healing art. She truly cares. She takes the time to really assess your dosha and give you suggestions for making these changes. She also makes the best Ghee and will teach you how. She also takes the time to follow up on you as you incorporate these changes into your routine. These two are not to be missed. I am in the healing field and will send many people their way.

She offered me some of her amazing homemade ghee which I am loving and using every day. After the consultation I moved into the amazing sacred space John had created with candles, sage, and a very comfy massage table. John is a very intuitive qi gong healer and has a deep innate sense of how energy moves and shifts in the body. I felt a connection to organs in my body I didn't realize I was so disconnected to. The two of them work together symbiotically to create an authentic healing and grounding experience. I felt more taken care of then I have every experienced from other alternative medicine practitioners. Thank you so much for your nurturing and kindness and for helping empower me to take better care of myself.

From the pristine state of the shop to the warm hospitality I received from the moment I entered, this place is definitely a shop I'll be returning to often. The staff are remarkably friendly and genuinely helpful, playing a huge role in making the experience smooth as silk. I came in with a prescription from abroad and with their help we managed to figure out a dosage to start me off with. I do appreciate that they gave me a small supply to trial things (just to see if it works) rather than trying to sell me up on a larger batch. Staff were focused on what I needed and thoroughly explained things rather than trying to make a quick buck; we discussed symptoms to verify medication appropriateness, double checked on whether the pricing made sense for my prescription dosage, and even reminded me to drink hot water for my headaches. It also helps that they know both Mandarin and Cantonese to boot, so between all these factors I certainly feel like I can trust them to know their stuff and treat folks with respect. Even on the financial front, a week's supply of medication for $40 is competitive with prices back in Hong Kong, so pretty much everything seems top notch. We'll see whether the dosage is about right, but Willie promptly gave his card to me just in case I had questions or if anything didn't make sense. Their customer service is worth praising and I plan on being a regular here.
