I've been coming to see Olivia and David for over 10 years and they are both very skilled and gifted acupuncturist!! They also helped my son when he was going through growing pains as a young teenager. They've also helped me with my chronic pain throughout the years , since I was in an accident. They are both very caring, and no up-to-date medical information. David also likes to make a number of herbal tees, tinctures, and solves! I'm so lucky to have found them!! I will continue to visit them and it's always great to get a good nights sleep after my acupuncture and cupping appointment!! I suggest everybody at least check them out!! plus I love their new Sunnyville Office. It's closer for me. I'd been struggling with tennis elbow for months and tried everything with no luck. David told me he could fix it in 10 minutes, I didn't believe it, but he did exactly that. Pain gone! I can't recommend Dr. David enough! I've been visiting his acupuncture office every 3-6 months whenever I have an issue, and booking appointments online is always quick and easy--I usually see him within half a day. Recently, I was desperate for help with a swollen face due to allergies, something I'd never experienced before. Eye drops and Claritin didn't work, and after two eye doctor visits, I called Dr. David in tears. Even though it was a Friday before the weekend, he generously gave me advice and emailed me a brief herbal tea prescription, and directed me to a shop--all at no charge. He even shared his personal number for follow-up. I bought the tea and drank it for five days. The relief wasn't instant, but I trusted his treatment, and by the end, my swelling and itchy eyes were completely gone. I felt horrible during the process, but now I'm back to normal and so happy! Reached out to Gen acupuncture last Tues and Olivia was able to get me in to see David at 6pm. I needed pain relief from my feet - plantar fasciitis!?! First time at an acupuncturist and I was praying that the needles would work. I limped into the office which was still very busy at 6pm. David came out, gave me health forms to fill and then whisked me into a room. Long story short, I said plantar fasciitis, he said ok, change, lie face down and started to put needles from my ankles to calves, lower back and neck. He explained that 90% of the time its tight inner calf muscles. He said it stemmed from my lower back being uneven. I felt little pulses of electrodes in the acu-points. He appropriately draped my lower body, placed heater lamps where the needles were and I was pretty warm and comfortable for a 30min nap with lovely music in the background while the acupuncture worked its magic. Needless to say, when I got off the bed, I was anxious with the first step, but the pain diminished by 50%! I was able to walk again with some radiating pain and not that piercing pain. I walked out much happier and so relieved I gave this a go. I couldn't wait until the following Tuesday, today, to see what David could do for my foot again. Today's experience was similar to last week's whereby he managed to decrease more of my pain. It's a little more dull and I can stand a little longer without my heels hurting and that radiating, pulsing pain has improved as well. My physical therapist says it's the fasciosis not fasciitis, whichever it is, acupuncture worked on my poor right heel. It's not 100% yet, but a wonderful job on reducing my pain - David deserves my compliment. read more

Today is Wed Apr-17-2024. I was at Gen Acupuncture yesterday. And I am so absolutely grateful for David's treatment. I am in my early 50s, and Tues morning, my shoulder completely locked up. Man, I freaked out, fearing I needed some surgery. I couldn't move my right arm at all. I phoned, and it was a relief when David answer the phone, as I know I'll get some relief soon. David is the best. I still remember the first time I saw him years ago, it was just one session, and he fixed my shoulder, something 2-3 months of chiropractor's visit couldn't fix. David is the best, I have been to about 30 different acupuncturists in my lifetime and he is by far the best. He is very thorough in his examination, diagnosis, and treatment. I found David through yelp like many of the other acupuncturists and I have been using him since 2015. Unfortunately, now he is not on my insurance plan but I have continued to, pay out of pocket, to see him as my other acupuncturists covered by my insurance could not measure up to him and his intricate pressure points identification to reduce the pain. He is so good that he can reduce the pain within minutes. Nothing but the best! I had an injury and after my first session, the way my body held pain was different. Weekly sessions made a significant difference on my pain that lasted for days or even longer. David is amazing! I've been going to acupuncture for 8 years now. I used to go to a lady in Los Gatos, but she worked only once a week and it stopped working with my schedule. I was looking for a new one. David was recommended by a good friend of mine. David is super professional and is very accurate in his diagnosis. There were things he told me about myself, and that he felt we should work on without telling him much. I had a complication after childbirth and David was the only one who was able to get this fully resolved. I honestly didn't think this will ever get resolved, but he made this miracle for me. I carried that for 8 years .. He got this fixed. In terms of stress management and binging, David always got me more balanced. My back and neck are much better too. I'm very happy with his practice, he's very prompt with scheduling and will try his best to see you if you need. I've been going on a regular basis now for ~3 years now, every two weeks. I feel much much better. David is also very helpful if you have jetleg. He will get this resolved very quickly. I always go see him when I'm back from an international trip. Olivia and David are such great acupuncturists that I even considered giving up my weekly talk-therapy sessions. This is how beneficial I found Gen Acupuncture to be. Both of them are so professional and goal-oriented that they actually told me that I didn't need any more acupuncture session after a course of treatments. I didn't want to stop coming but I was all healed so really couldn't find an excuse to continue receiving treatments. Of course that has not stopped me from coming in the day after my car accident (to help with whiplash. David gives a mean, deep massage!) and coming in after experiencing foot pain for a week. I'm pretty sure I would use any excuse to see Olivia and David...because I have always found their treatments to be helpful. *The Experience* It's a small office that is quiet and professional. You will be led to one of two rooms with a massage table. Depending on what treatment you need, you might have to change out of your clothes. After they stick their pins in you, they leave you with a call button (in case you need to call them in again) and soft music for a period of time. After they take their pins out, you might receive a massage or cupping. You might or might not receive herbal medicine afterwards. Depends on your situation. Basically, it is a wise way you can spend some of your hard-earned cash and an hour of your life. read more

The actual acupuncture and cupping treatments were great! Olivia explained everything exceptional well, that made sense to this scientific mind of mine. I had come here to treat my migraines and western medicine wasn't helping me out much other than to suggest that I take some daily drugs. Ugh. Anyway, the treatment helped me to have a bit more energy which helps ward away migraines. I don't think that I had enough treatments to come of a really good conclusion. I gave them three stars due to poor customer service. It didn't feel like Olivia much cared if I returned for additional treatment...which I might've considered. I always wanted to try acupuncture but was weary due to the fact that needles will be placed into my body and I hate needles no matter how small they are. But I am all about experiencing and learning more about eastern medicine and therapy and found this practice through Groupon and yelp. Upon my first appointment Olivia took her time to get to know me and my lifestyle habits to asses where I have blocked energy. She is very friendly, easy to talk to , and made me fell comfortable. I did not feel a thing when all the needles started going in. It actually felt really good. I had a bad head/neck ache and it virtually went away as I was laying there. She also does the cupping technique where they light a flame inside these ceramic cups and twist them all over your body. It may sound weird but it feels really good and relieves tension and increases circulation. I train in martial arts and last fall pulled part my hamstring. I kept training on it due to an upcoming tournament, which wasn't the best idea, but after the tournament, no amount of massage or pain/muscle relaxer pills from the doctor seemed to help. After a number of months, I was willing to try anything, so since my health insurance covers chiropractor & acupuncture visits, I cross referenced my network with top Yelp reviews and found Gen Acupuncture. I was a bit nervous about if I would be able to feel the needles at all, but both Olivia and David are amazing! Very sweet team and both very knowledgeable about treating athletes. While Olivia just had a baby, David has been treating me now for a few months. From the first treatment, he was able to tell much about me from just taking a pulse and looking at my tongue! They really take care of me and make me feel special for just coming in! The treatment itself is very relaxing. While this is my first experience(s) with acupuncture, they start me off with cupping to get the blood flowing, but then when they put in the needles, you can often not feel them at all (sometimes you can feel it in 'trouble' areas though)! My first visit, they even did some electro-stimulation in my primarily injured area, which they said would help with any scar tissue from a pulled muscle. The place is awesome!! The place is owned by a couple, brownie point no. 1 It's clean and cozy, brownie point no.2 I was treated by Olivia, who had very good bedside manners. She took the time to understand my habits and diagnosed me. Pinned me for about 7-8 mins, then left me for 20 mins or so to soak up the goodness which needles on your nerves provide ;) I also tried cupping, just for fun, and was glad to realize that my bruises weren't that dark and all (the darker the more toxins you have in your body). I grew up in Asia and am a strong believer in Chinese/Eastern medicines, especially when used as preventative care and to maintain overall health and strength of my body. So though I went in without any major pains or problems (other than migraines), I will continue to see Olivia. I do wish that she used more herbal supplements though.. that was one thing that I was very used to drinking regularly to ensure the best of my health. read more

The first time I came here was...one of the Sundays, I had a pretty bad cold, and tried to find some place that I could do a nice cupping treatment...Found this place on Yelp, went there, and ever since fall in love with this place! This place is very nice and clean, the couple who ran it, David and Olivia are both very knowledgeable, kind and helpful. They are both Koreans, but Olivia speaks English and David speaks fluent Chinese, which is great help for me to communicate. The cups they use are not the normal glass cups used in most Chinese place...they are much better quality and feel really comfortable...and my cold got healed in one day! I recently went back for some acupuncture treatment--though I learned a bit of cupping and acupuncture before, I never ever tried to have the needles in me, but I trusted David for that, and it feels much more comfortable than I thought! Recommended some of my friends to go there too, they all seem to love it! This is my first time visit this clinic for my low back pain. During the Christmas vacation I visited my brother in law's house in San jose. But my back pain was serious, so I went to this clinic. I don't know what I'd do without Olivia! I've been going to her for a few months to treat migraines and have had exceptional success. I went from 4-5 days a week of headaches (frequently migraines) to maybe 1 headache a month in a relatively short period of time. We're also working on my insomnia and I have seen some initial improvement, but I think more time is needed to sort that one out. Their location is clean, calm and comfortable and I love Olivia's bedside manner. She's always in a great mood and is calming and easy to talk to. She's very skilled and I experience significantly less discomfort with the needles than I've felt with other acupuncturists. Olivia also takes her time and makes you feel like you're her only appointment that day. This is my favorite Chinese acupuncture and herbal medicine place in Bay Area, also consider Dr Chang the best Chinese doctor. Dr David Chang has rigorous training in Chinese medicine from famous medical school in Beijing. He has excellent expertise of acupuncture, suction cups and prescription of Chinese herbs. He is also very honest, responsible, knowledgeable, caring and nice. We always had good conversation. After getting regular treatment for 6 years, we became friends. I put a lot of trust in his hands. I always fell asleep right there in the middle of treatment, felt very relaxed and peaceful, and sleep quality improved afterwards. Overall his treatment effectively reduced stress from work, balanced the "qi" in my body, skin and digestion got better. I am very thankful to Dr Chang. read more
