If you want your dress shirts ruined, this is the place for you! Kyong's will leave your shirts with stains they never had before--from chemicals they must be using and from pressing with too much heat. I've had at least 5 nice dress shirts ruined, with two ruined so much I had to get rid of them. And when you tell them about an issue, they'll say: 1) it was like that before (no) and 2) it's just the color fading (nope). It's a shame. read more

A new owner took over the previous owner's business before Covid. I was a little sad to see the Kyongs sold their business because the family knew their customers pretty well and made the interactions so friendly and welcoming. When the new owner took over, I have brought my things for dry cleaning, such as winter clothes, blankets, etc and they come out consistently clean. I don't remember if the new owner kept the same prices as the previous owner, but the prices are comparable in the area. I like the new owner because she's very efficient and friendly. I told her to update her businesses on Yelp and Google, but technology isn't her strong suit. Hopefully folks in the neighborhood know this dry cleaner is open for business! read more

Thanks to Yelp I found Kyong's cleaner and the place didn't disappoint. I dropped off several items to be dry cleaned and the owner allowed me to set my pickup date free of charge. One of the coats I brought in had two small stains that she flagged with tape. When I got the coat back it looked just like new. I have come here with my dry cleaning for 3 years, but recently had a disappointing experience. While the prices are relatively high, I had no issue paying them for a good and efficient service. However, my most recent experience has left me deeply disappointed. A shirt was returning stained, and a belt attached to a dress was missing. I returned to the store following the realization of the missing belt, thinking that perhaps it was mistakenly left off or misplaced in the store. However, the employees were unwilling to entertain the idea a belt may have been attached to the dress and were wholly unwilling to consider even looking for the belt. read more

Great place for quality alterations at a fair price. My sister went here a bridesmaid's dress and suggested it to me. Both dresses were well altered and as cute as dresses that you paid too much for can be! There's a little dressing closet for you to change. There's a curtain that pulls over the door opening. Not the most secure, but the storefront is small and there's little chance someone else would open it while you're changing. Specifically, I had to have the spaghetti straps significantly shortened and two inches take off both sides of the dress. The dress was full sequined and also had some boning in the center. No longer goes by the name "Kyong's Cleaner;" now called "Diamond!" Regardless of the name change, I was surprised by the high prices quoted to clean each item, but was rushed so didn't quibble. I later discovered that in addition to the high prices for each item, I was also charged for two add'l items which were NOT included in my dry cleaning, an add'l jacket and a pair of trousers. I'll admit that I haven't had anything cleaned here but I did very recently have a dress hemmed. I stop by one late morning and a gentleman helped me out. I was able to quickly try on the dress and have him pinned the fabric where I wanted it cut. I was just a little shocked at how much it was just for the hem. It was about $40 for a VERY basic hem. Granted, I wasn't doing it on my own AND I could've gone somewhere else but my circumstances didn't allow for those kinds of deviations that day. Ok, so the pricing for dry cleaning in DC sucks. Doesn't really matter where you go, you're pretty much getting crushed across the board. This is why I'm so glad I found Kyong's Cleaner, as it's the closest in comparison to Arlington prices. Apart from the affordable dry cleaning though, the customer service here is exceptional. Clothes cleaned in 1.5 days at no cost. Extremely personable staff that remembered my name after my first visit as well - and while my building offers a dry cleaning service for their tenants, I will definitely be making the extra trip to NE as I tend to stick to one shop once I find one that I like. They also offer tailoring & alterations, so I will be sure to update review after I've taken some pants to get hemmed. All in all definitely worth the trip if you live in DC though. read more

I had previously brought a few items to Kyongs for alterations and was pleased with the service, although it always took much longer than specified. This time though was the worst service experience I have ever had. I brought six items to Kyongs for alterations. They gave me a pick-up date, and I returned on that date to find none of my items ready. They gave me a later date, and I returned again to find nothing ready. They made a lot of excuses - how busy they were, how much work I had given them - and they told me to come back the next day. I came back, they acted surprised to see me, and scrambled to complete an alteration. I told them I was tired of being given arbitrary pick-up dates when it seemed they had no intention of completing the service by then. They offered no apologies and made no effort to expedite the process. This cycle repeated itself a few times. About 2 months after the first pick-up date I finally collected all my items. Only two items fit. One pair of pants was ruined - they cropped them to the knee when I had asked for ankle (then they blamed me for this), and one dress was lost at press for two weeks. I asked for a refund, but was only given a store credit for the price of the pants alteration. Obviously, I will not return. My experience with Kyongs' was shady, dishonest, and a big waste of money and time. read more

This place was great! A coworker who had her wedding dress altered here recommended this place for my wedding dress alterations and they went above and beyond for us last year. First, my dress was tricky because it was lace but, last minute, my husband's suit had been, imo, done terribly by another tailor and we came in with a lopsided jacket the week before we left for our wedding and they were able to fix it just in time for our flight out to California. I know they stayed late on their day off to make sure my husband had a jacket that looked nice and, again, above and beyond for us. Don't go there! One of my worst local service experiences. I dropped two pairs of shoes to get the soles glued. I had to go back there three times to get my shoes back and only one pair was fixed. First time, shoes were no ready on the pick up date indicated. Second time, they had simply given my shoes to another client! They also pretended that I had kept a shoe with me which was wrong - they had it but couldn't find it since the shop is completely unorganized. They finally were able to get my shoes back but they're really unprofessional and careless people. They also never keep you posted - you're the one who have to call. Lost the pants to a suit I had cleaned and insisted that I had, and this is for real, the pants in my apartment. The owners are not only unkind, but also untrustworthy, and one of them threatened violence against me when I became firm regarding the need for him to reimburse me. Took a bridesmaid dress here for alterations 3 weeks before the wedding, and it was done in 10 days - plenty of time. When I went to pick it up, it was a little tight because I'm pregnant and I had gained a little weight since I had dropped it off. I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with Kyongs. I brought in a bridesmaid dress for minor alterations. After picking it up, it had been taken in way too far-4 inches off. Upon returning it, it took an additional 6 visits to get a dress that fit. I was told multiple times the dress would be done by a certain day, only to find upon arriving that it had not been worked on. It came down to 2 days before the wedding when I finally got the dress after waiting in the store for 45 min as she rushed through the finished product. I brought a bridesmaid dress that was too small. I was worried that nothing could be done about it, but Kyong worked her magic! She ordered fabric and took out. She is so talented and was able to make sure she added just the right amount of fabric, where it would still keep its form-fitting shape. The price was reasonable, too, given the amount of work. She can get busy, so I would recommend giving yourself as much time as possible -- in my case, it took about 3 weeks. I would advise against taking your clothing to this business. We have used this company three times. The first time was w/o incident. The second time however they misplaced our clothing and we left the business without a suit that was needed for work the following day. The third time was today. We had a suit altered and cleaned. Upon getting home and removing the bag we noticed IT WAS NOT OUR SUIT. I telephoned Mr Kyong and told him of his error. He was in no way apologetic. I reminded him of the previous error and he stated, " I don't remember this happening." by way of that remark it was immediately apparent that this sort of thing must happen quite regularly or he just plain did not take customer service 101. This is my second review of kyong's cleaners. They exceeded my expectations yet again!!! Brought a dress that was way too big for me in to the cleaners on a Thursday night. They stated that the dress would be ready by that following Thursday which is pretty standard. I explained that I needed it by that Saturday if possible for a wedding. Even though she was backed up with orders, she magically finished my dress by Saturday early afternoon in time for the wedding. The alteration was perfection!!! They have really spoiled me with their quick turn around and fantastic service. I will be taking more items to her very soon! I am tall and skinny so I'm generally swimming in off the rack suits. I took one to Kyong's and they basically rebuilt the entire suit for me. It now fits better than anything I own and looks amazing. I would definitely recommend their alteration services, I want to take the rest of my suits in now. Over promised and under delivered. I had a dress taken in and hemmed. When all I really wanted was the hem and armpit holes taken out. I was told in order to keep the cost down and since I was giving them extra time (3.5 weeks) she would go ahead and do the armpit holes at no additional cost since the hem and the taking in of the dress (only a bit) was $116. I called four days before I was supposed pick up the dress and she said yes everything would be taken care of (including the armpits). Then I pick up the dress and the armpits aren't done and she says I would need to pay $90 extra for that to be done. Mind you this dress originally cost me $122. Not happy. Not worth it. read more
