This is a continuation of my dental saga from this morning (see my review for Tend Buckhead written…read moreabout two hours ago- spoiler I walked out because I didn't agree with their terms). I have a chipped tooth and Rebecca at Buckhead Dental Group was kind enough to ask a dentist at this practice to work me in on short notice. Rebecca is a total dear- so kind and sweet. She sets the tone for the office as a point of first contact and gave me every confidence my issue would be addressed. I cannot say enough for my positive experience. Dr. Abera was kind enough to see me and take a look at my mouth prior to extensive cleaning, X-rays, etc. This practice (unlike TEND) did not require extensive X-rays prior to even *speaking* with the dentist (avoid Tend buckhead!!!). My chip, as I suspected, required no filling or X-rays- just a bit of smoothing. I was in and out and the doc made time for me to ensur4e everything was addressed properly. She was kind and attentive, her assistant was absolutely amazing and sweet. I couldn't be happier and will bringing my entire family here for future visits. She even said I had nice teeth which I really appreciated! In a world where massive dental conglomerates buy small family practices and then make it about dollars, this is still a practice that has integrity and puts the welfare of their patients FIRST. They have my business and all of my recommendations moving forward! Twenty stars if I could award that many. Thank you so much to the whole team at Buckhead Dental Group for making me feel so at home and listening to my needs during a (potential) dental emergency. For the record as it relates to my experience at Tend Buckhead: you SHOULD NOT agree to any dental procedures without speaking to a dentist first. If a practice doesn't take time to talk to you and evaluate your issue prior to a large medical and financial commitment- leave immediately!!!

I was a patient Dr Lewis Freedman who reconstructed my best friends' fathers mouth so I went. Most unfortunately he passed away recently and his brother Charles has taken over most of his patients. I have been a white knuckle fraidy cat for most of my life. Had fillings when I was little with no Novocain. But everyone there has assured me that the easiest thing they can do is to not hurt me. And it's TRUE. They don't have a big flashy office with a lot of wasted space but it has everything. Their location on Piedmont in Buckhead was established by Dr.s Freedman's father many years ago and at some point DR Weitman was added to the staff. He works closely with their in house ceramicist which is novel in todays world. They are really like a family to me. I go in every 6 months for a cleaning and a review from the Dr. They have fixed broken teeth, done root canals, caps, fillings and pulled a tooth or two. I have the utmost confidence in everyone at this treasure of a find.

The doctors were great, and the front office staff was always clear about costs, insurance coverage, and what I was being charged for. I never felt surprised by a bill because everything was explained upfront. Unfortunately, my recent experience after the office moved to Chamblee was very different. I visited on a weekend in January for a deep cleaning and a painful tooth. I was told that my insurance could not be verified on the weekend and that I would need to pay upfront, but that any insurance-covered amount would be refunded after verification. I decided not to proceed with the deep cleaning, but I did see the doctor, received medication for an infection, and paid $141. The front desk informed me that I would receive a refund once my insurance was verified. I followed up two weeks later and was told they were still waiting for verification. It is now June, and I have still not received a refund or a clear explanation of the delay. I understand that insurance issues can take time, but nearly six months without resolution or communication is disappointing. I hope the office can look into this matter and improve communication regarding billing and refunds.

They were free of judgement and nothing but helpful from the front desk to the hygienist to the dentist. After hearing about my insurance situation and another office canceling on me day of, Town Dentistry made time for me to come in and made me 2 follow-up appointments to get a deeper cleaning and a couple fillings. I paid and received a zero paid in full receipt. About a month later I received an invoice that stated that my insurance would not cover what they originally thought and now requested an additional $697.00 to be paid and that this will eventually be sent to collections. I asked her to take the remaining balance off because it wasn't what I initially signed or agreed to and the whole request just seemed shady. She of course denied my request. When I told her I'll dispute it because I have the zero balance receipt she said that I should definitely hang onto my receipt to dispute my case in collections. The whole transaction was wild. I was honestly so speechless. One because this had never happened before. Two, because I can't quite figure out how a business with true integrity can imagine that this is fair and honest business. I've been seeing Dr. Nguyen for routine dental care for over 10 years, and he is a fantastic…read moredentist--kind, caring, and he uses up-to-date technology. His clinical team has also generally been very good. Unfortunately, the experience with the front office has declined over the past year. Recently, when scheduling an appointment for my elderly mother, we specifically asked whether they accepted her insurance. We clearly told them the name of the insurance and even sent a photo of her insurance card. The day before the appointment, the office called and texted to confirm. However, the morning of the appointment, they sent a message saying they do not take her insurance and that we could pay out of pocket instead. There was no apology and no acknowledgment of the inconvenience, despite the time we spent preparing for the appointment and taking time off work. It was disappointing, especially given how long we've trusted this practice. I hope the office improves its communication and insurance verification process so other patients don't have a similar experience.

I feel like I can put all my trust to him when it comes my teeth. To me, he is not just a dentist, he love what he does and extremely good at it. I experienced a few dentists for the last 31 years, but none of them can be compared to dr. Nguyen. If you are in need to look for a new dentist, you should give yourself a try with dr. Nguyen.
