We came across this gas station and not only that. We were able to find some hot chicken and thee best potato wedges ever. I believe Chester's Chicken is a big deal in Trona with the small towns residents and travelers. The few folks working there were so cheerful. I just wish we asked a few more questions from the locals. It's always a plus. We filled up on gas , sat and ate in our vechile not only that we went back in for some honey buttered biscuits. I devoured those on the road to furnace creek city. On the return trip back to Los Angeles as I cannot check in twice. We filled up on gas, restroom and bought a few souvenirs.

She was thirsting, we were bursting. Our destination - Needles. This was a perfect stop to fuel our journey across the unforgiving Mojave Desert byways. Restrooms outside Post Office Building, quiet fountain. Shoshone Museum across the highway. It is so good to be in a Pod. I kept thimking about the Jayhawker Party crossing this desert in their wagons, leaving dead Jayhakers, oxen and horses dead on the trail as the Timbisha Shoshone watched from a distance. We have Chevron fuel, cold Sprite, air conditioning, four new tires and a fine engine taking us to Needles.

Told cashier, recommended they put a bag on the pump, he basically said, "so what?", my problem to have been in line for a pump that did not work, then another line for one that did. So bought enough to get to Mohave and filled up there. And men's room has thee urinals, one blocked off with a stack of milkcrates. No paper towels, changing the review from 4 to 3 stars. Now the Shell station in Mohave has an even worse men's room, as does the Shell station down 395 about 8 miles, so I'm lucky that men can pee standing up. But Subway is Subway, Jersey Mike's in Lone Pine is much better if you want a real Italian sandwich like they make on the East Coast.

This gas station has none of that-- plenty of space to navigate for even the most asinine motorists who couldn't navigate an empty parking lot in a Ford Festiva... The gas station bears the rural "you need it/we got it" mark up, but really, you're only going to drop an extra 20¢ a gallon here, compared to station prices from Lone Pine to Bishop. This is also your last stop heading south for a while, so clean restrooms and the usual gas station mini-mart fare are found here. Across the street from a popular jerky joint with a cult-following, we duck in here on almost every trip to the Eastern Sierras. Might as well stop in, especially if you're southbound.
