My kids enjoy this playground over the others we've been too. We've been on a park mission lately. This one is unique because of the layout compared to the non kid friendly metal designs (Kipapa park). It's street parking and I never have an issue finding an open spot. The grassy area is huge. With all those hills, my oldest loves to "bomb" them with his bike. And it's not too far up in Mililani Mauka. Easy to find and quite close to the ravine if you'd like to get more pep in your step.

Probably the coolest park/playground I've seen in a while. My in-laws stumbled upon this gem just driving around and when I looked it up without knowing the name it was still so easy for me to find. Lots of street parking and a few benches with shade over it for parents to sit and relax while the children let off some energy. It's well kept and pretty clean compared to other parks you see. The only downfall is there is no bathroom at this park but I guess that's also a good thing so people won't hang out there the whole day lol. The nearest bathroom would probably be at McDonald's which is down the road a couple minutes drive which isn't bad either. My daughter had a blast. She said the slides were fast lol. 1 double slide and 1 swirled one. Her favorite was probably the rock wall to get up and the hammock swing on the bottom of the set. It's a higher playground than I'm used to so I suggest you keep close eye on your littles while they're up.

UPDATE: The playground got an upgrade! The new playground is for the adventure climbing kids-- so if your kid is the one who enjoys playing it safe, mayyyyybe hold off a bit on this one. The first time we came, my son, "the one who plays it safe", was a pretty hesitant. So basically all he did was go up the stairs and down the slides, hung out on the hammock, and watched all the other kids run crazy. But after a few visits, each time he was feeling "a little bit braver", and wanted to attempt a new part of the structure. First it was the rock wall... next visit it was the "shaky stepper rocks" (as my son called it)... today, it was the "leaf steps" (his names makes it sound like American ninja warrior). Maybe next time it'll be the rock mountain, or the side ladders... It gets pretty busy on non school hours/days, and there's usually a few older kids (10-12 yrs) who seem to walk over without their parents and run crazy.. so watch yo kid. Mines got shoulder bumped a number of times as they were running around. Overall, cute playground. I like that it's still nice and not vandalized

Ku'ulako Park used to be a sad little run down playground full of graffiti, trash, loitering teens and a handful of parents desperate to get their toddlers out of the house. BUT the park was recently revamped into Mililani's BEST and most popular playground! The park now has 3 slides, a rock climbing mountain and wall, climbing trees, a hammock and more!!! Children of all ages--including the same teenagers who used to tag the old playground--run around with ear to ear smiles and shrieking laughs. This playground isn't like the rest of the Mililani Town Association playgrounds that are strictly guarded by dragons to only allow MTA card holders. This playground is open for all! So grab your kids and run to Ku'ulako Playground! It does rain a lot in Mauka so don't forget your umbrellas! Lol

Very small playground but convenient for neighboring townhouses. Has a huge field to have kids run around or play some ball. There are a few times we have come there have been older kids hogging the playground, hanging around so me and the little one will just picnic on the grass and hang out. Not a big deal, but today was exceptionally dangerous this bigger kid was swinging around a long big bamboo stick paying no attention to the younger kids-- seriously where are the parents?! Usually it is a pleasant time but I guess there will be days like that sometimes!

My 3 year old can play here all day, great place to kill time and relax! Looks like it was just renovated and revamped with seats for parents and many things for the kids to play with!

Great park for all age groups. This is my favorite by far compared to others that are really old or in sketchy neighborhoods.

I was the only one parked there and I went on a Friday morning around 9. Playground: The sign says its for kids ages 5- 12. I took my 22 month old daughter. She loved it. I loved how clean the playground is! It's seriously the cleanest playground I've taken my kids to. There are two slides for kids to choose from. Parts of the park are shaded, included two benches you can sit at to watch your little ones while they play. The bigger slide has a bridge that was too scary for my daughter to go on alone, she wasn't scared, I was. A little toddler could easily fall through, but I can see how it could be fun for bigger kids to get to the big slide. Since we had the whole playground to ourselves, I let her climb up the big slide to enjoy it, rather than try to cross the bridge she could easily fall through. Despite some shaded areas, my daughter said the big slide was too hot for her to slide on around 10 a.m. Area: There are walking trails you can take advantage of. The trails go along a stream and it was .5 miles, round trip from the parking lot to the end and back. The trails are shaded, which was nice. I saw a lot of dog owners on the trails while I was exploring. There are some pull up bars by the playground. There is also tennis courts and basketball courts. I definitely recommend this fun little park and playground.

He split our pool time to spend some time by the slides at the playground. Checking in with Mililani resident IDs gets us our wristbands. We seem to come at the height of the sun's strongest rays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. It gives us a good 45 minutes of outdoor activity and the freedom of no masks for a little while. Fridays it opens later so it kinda throws off lunch and nap time but in the car ride home he took a little kitty nap. I'm not sure why little kids aren't allowed swim vests if they are not strong swimmers but there must be a good reason. I've seen between 1 to 3 life guards on duty at a time. Some more serious than others on watch. Saw for the first time a life guard testing the water in the baby pool and big pool then logging down his findings. Being at prime summer time more and more kiddies are seen at Rec 4 with grandparents or parents. If you time it right you can enjoy the 3 areas and leave when it starts to get crowded.

Why? Because they have the cutest splash park, playground, and a warm pool/kiddie pool. What they don't have is a water slide and shave ice/Starbucks, but no biggie, we can make do without. Anywho's, with lots of precautions and not much places i would take my infant to, we decided to celebrate his first birthday here. Limit of 10 people inside so we had to wait a long while. Good thing they were open pretty late, til 7pm! You need to have an MTA pass or go as a guest with someone who has and pay $10 per guest per day. It's street parking along the fence, facing the playground and splash park or anywhere you can find. But between those two is the entrance. Mask on when entering, exiting or when not in the water. No floaties allowed. Have fun!

16 Acres Park in Mililani, Oahu, Hawaii…read more.. I didn't know where 16 Acres Park was - even though I was born and raised on the Island of Oahu... lol! Why? Maybe because I hardly go to Mililani; my family doesn't live there; and I don't play soccer or basketball. Haha! I googled 16 Acres Park because I was supposed to meet someone there to pick up a gigantic prize package that I had won on Instagram. I gave them my phone number so they could text me when they arrived at the park after they finished work in Waialua. I used GPS to find Makaunulau Community Park (AKA 16 Acres Park) and parked near the restroom where there was a sign with the park's name. I texted a photo of the restroom to the contact person and they weren't familiar with this area of the park! I stated that there was no parking lot... and I saw a baseball diamond right in front of me and basketball courts far away. Eventually, she found me (I don't even know her name), and she helped me put all of the prizes in my car! But it will be a hassle to hold it and either walk to the bathroom across the park or simply drive there. I'm not fond of public restrooms so it's best to hold it til I get home. TMI, but let's be honest here. Those would be my plans..but for the kids sake, yikes! Playground is nice but located towards the corner with only a fence to block kiddos from running to the parking lot but definitely will not stop them from running on the road.. It could use some improvements: fenced off playground and a bathroom facility closer to the parking lot side. However, yes obviously parents should keep an eye on the kiddos at all times and not play the darn PoGo game. Nonetheless, my family and I will always choose to frequent this park the most. Very spacious, ample parking, and a great place to teach my son how to ride a bike.

This facility is for kids ages 10-months to 10-years old. Socks are required for both kids and adults. Compared to other indoor playgrounds for kids, this one is on the small side. There's a good variety of play areas and activities that my kids don't get bored with the small space, and I enjoy it because it's easier to monitor them versus the larger playgrounds. They have a room for toddlers with a small ball pit, slide, oversized blocks, and toys. Next to it, there is a small rock-climbing wall with a foam pit below, a merry-go-round, kitchen, market with fresh produce, an ice cream stand, a doctor's office, and a dress up and makeup set. For the larger kiddos, they have a huge jungle-gym with a 3-way slide, mini zip-line, larger ball pit with a wall projection that you can throw balls at animated characters and score points. One of my children's favorite areas is the sand pit. Only, the pit isn't filled with sand, but plastic Nerds-like particles. There's a large climbing dome made of netting and sand toys in this area. Monthly passes are available, so is a small party room, and there's a nursing and changing room for your infants. Wipes are available if you need them. Stamp cards are available and you can earn a stamp for each hour-long visit you purchase. After 10 hour-long visits, you can get a free hour for one child. You usually have to ask for the card and for the stamp, as its given upon request. At the time of your exit, they provide your kiddos with balloons. My kids have gotten to choose from animal, sword, and flower balloons. Overall a great place to bring your kids to move around indoors, and give yourself a breather.
