There's always a nice mix of people from all over the island who come to visit--many even call it the "Fruit Park" or "Apple Park." For us, it's extra special because it's right across the street from our home, making it so convenient to enjoy. The park is well maintained weekly through our community fees, and the trees here are amazing--the ulu provides food, and the puakenikeni blossoms are perfect for making lei. We've even been able to spread a few lauhala seeds, adding to the natural beauty. Konane Park is truly a gathering place that reflects the spirit of Ho'opili.

The path is paved, wide, and stroller/ tricycle/ scooter-friendly, so it works well for both adults and kids. The whole place has a calm, welcoming vibe. There are enough people around that it doesn't feel empty, but never crowded. There are several playgrounds scattered along the loop, which makes them great "pit stops" if you're there with kids. The playgrounds aren't brand new, but they're in decent condition and set on rubber flooring. They're perfect for active toddlers and slightly older kids. Our two-year-old can enjoy the slides and smaller features without it feeling overwhelming or dangerous. The only thing I wish is that there were a few more benches near the playgrounds for parents to sit and relax. The park itself is beautiful, with lots of trees providing shade and greenery that stays fresh even in the hotter months. Lately, the flowering trees have been blooming with pinkish-yellow blossoms. There are also picnic tables and restrooms available (didn't check the restrooms personally, but they're there).

Leading into the secondly... Secondly, I have been doing this for over a year and by now, my dog has friends. Like, a lot of friends. And the humans aren't so bad either. We, dogs adn humans, all get along swimmingly, giving both our dogs and us a chance to socialize. We share water bowls and trade dinner ideas, rosemary and training tips. It's a responsible, playful and peaceful scene. For the kids, there is a jungle gym that can get crowded, tennis backboards, and basketball courts. Also open space for playing whatever else you can think of. It can get crowded in the afternoon with baseball practice and the A-plus kids. Also the kids can leave a lot of rubbish and snacks around that the dogs can get into, so you gotta watch that. But other than that, its a fun, sober, happy hour. See you there!

I usually look for a spot of green on the GPS in the form of a city park. On a recent shopping trip to the Waikele Outlets, I was pleasantly surprised how beautiful the nearby Waikele Community Park is! We dropped off the shopper and drove just a few minutes. The park is shaped like a giant half circle with golf condos behind trees around it. The parking lot is very large with plenty of shaded parking. This park is awash in amenities: public clean restrooms, a community pool with generous hours (although be prepared for unexpected closings), a recreation office with many classes and activities, and picnic area (by permit). Everything we explored was spotless, no trash here. Uphill from the pool is a large open field perfect to play games, set up volleyball nets or tents. There was a large family gathering happening while we were there, and it looked so relaxing and shady. This is as perfect as an Oahu city park can be!

So if you know any one, family members etc that lives in this are, give them a call and go to the park! They have two tennis courts, 6 basketball rims (standard), a kiddie court that has two rims, a jungle gym, lots of restrooms, and a open field! Also on the facility is a rec center. You don't need a key to enter, however you would need to reserve it through the community office in Kunia shopping enter. I usually come here to play tennis, or shoot some hoops with family perfect place for a nice family day. It's a great park to relax and get away from the world, usually pretty windy so it's perfect when it's super hot.

A group of people could be playing soccer and there'd still be room to let your child roam freely! It's always breezy there, perfect for flying kites! There's a basketball court with a place to also put up your net if you want to play volleyball or tennis..or even tether ball :D The bathrooms are always clean! I think it'd be good to bring your own soap though if you're worried about that, they don't provide that. There's a tree that is great to hold picnics under or just to relax :) I highly recommend bringing a blanket though, there's a lot of prickly weeds in the grass. It's so relaxing here, I really love spending time there. Get a ball (or a few) and have a ball there!

There is a lot of paint over the worn-out, crumbling vinyl pieces, obviously there to cover graffiti. But still, fresh graffiti featuring the "f word" is evidence it's a constant battle. The playing field and basketball courts looked nice enough. I didn't go in the bathroom, so no comment there. One bonus: quite a view! But would not take my grandkids there again.

My children grew up around Waipahu District Park. There are so many different constructive things…read morehappening here for all ages. Over the years our family has used the the park for many sporting events, tons of Easter egg hunts and even learning how to swim. My children attended Summer Fun and even grew up and became Junior Leaders. I think Waipahu District Park is one of Waipahu's cornerstones for gatherings which is so important in any community. The caretakers take really good care of the facilities and we feel safe when visiting.
