The food comes out surprisingly quickly given how small the kitchen is, and the staff is always very friendly. It's actually the place my kids request more than anywhere else in Louisville, and they each have their own favorite dishes. The bibimbap in the stone bowl is excellent, but my personal favorite is the tofu stew, which is absolutely perfect on a cold winter night. In the summer, I tend to go for the chicken wings or the Korean pancakes. Honestly, I want to try everything on the menu eventually because everything we've had so far has been that good.

We sat at a BBQ table, (you cook!) and thankfully you don't have to cook because Gogi has an extensive chef prepared menu . Of course, the"kids" opted to cook! They ordered from the several meat choice selections and I must say things were sizzling all around me! ! Paula checked on us just enough and kept our water glasses full. The atmosphere is perfect, the lighting just right and the music was Devine because you could hear it, but you could carry on a convo too! My husband ordered the Bulgogi, so flavorful! I had the Soondubu soup, which was flavorful and just spicy enough for me. We are definitely going back, sooner rather than later!

The results were mixed. We did the grill table and had appetizers. The apps were AMAZING! The pot stickers, the salad, the spicy edamame, all yum. The meat for the grill was basted in a wonderful marinade and you had a choice of having the kitchen grill it or doing so at your table. We chose to do it ourselves. The waitress brought us scissors with the meat...! The cuts were really too thick and/or wide and I was wondering why the kitchen would send them out so we would still have to cut raw meat with scissors at the table? Also, the only veggies that came with the meal were chunks of green peppers and a few rings of onions. We had asked about more but those were it. The dessert was shaved something in coconut milk. Not very memorable. They did hold the dairy for our lactose free person so maybe that would have made a difference? Because the apps were so good I'll go back and try their other items, but probably not the grill table.

Milkwood was our anniversary go-to; tonight Nami picked up that role. Our server Jay was incredibly friendly and helpful. He explained everything on the menu, giving us recommendations and guidance, and then left us for a bit to think it through. By the time he came back to check in, we were ready to order our whole meal. We started with a complimentary champagne toast for our anniversary...always a lovely touch. Then we had our two cocktails, the wasabi margarita and the lychee martini. Both were so delicious we couldn't choose, and ended up sharing them both entirely. Next came crispy chicken dumplings (that we ate before I could even get a photo) and the amazing ponyu, a thick scallion and vegetable pancake (got a photo of the last slice. We couldn't stop eating it!). For our mains (most of which came home with us, tbh), we ordered the crispy skin snapper with delicious fried rice and the Kalbi beef short ribs from the bbq menu. The bbq comes with 2 sauces and 3 housemade banshan side dishes. Everything was flavorful and perfectly cooked. There's nothing on the menu that I don't want to try. We love sharing so that we can taste it all! This will definitely be our anniversary spot...but I don't think I'll wait a year to return.

The owner probably took into consideration cleanliness by putting the ventilation on the side tables. The food is worth the price especially because of the typical side dish accommodation. I would want more seafood and noodles to vegetable ratio, but, as I said the price is worth it. I do question why rice is there as a 2 dollar side dish. Either way, this is one of those establishments that have imported Korean alcohol. Make use of this restaurant as there aren't many here in Louisville as accommodating.

Most of the patrons were not white or speaking English which is always signifies to me AND as a therapist I don't want to overhear your conversations. Even after asking for a manager to quickly resolve the situation- we were refused. Very poor customer service. We stopped here at 730 on a Thursday-we were seated within a few minutes. Place appeared clean and not overly crowded. Ordered drinks and waited 10 minutes for drinks and to begin the ordering of food. The host places a paper liner on the grill and oiled it - said we had to keep it on and she would change as needed- it started burning prior To getting food, we asked to change prior to eating and she never did. Our first set of food took 15 minutes, as other tables around got their food after being seated after us. Only 1/2 the order was received- we got shaved chicken, small shaved steak, pineapple, zucchini.- mind you we were a party of 3. Paper still burning and peeled off on food. Fried rice had a weird sweet corn flavor which did not pair well with the food. Over 20 more minutes host had yet to get another order as she helped tables all around us- we were out of drinks and missing food items. Dishes were also piled up as other tables had staff clearing theirs ours remained and space is tight as is. We had to ask for manager- some staff came out - we got some food out and then they started just bringing random food. No apologies and for the wait and issues with the grill, small fire and wait times- we will not be back. Much better hot pot places that I will spend our money.

I will say the beef and chicken bulgogi were delish, wasn't a fan at all of short rib wayyyy gristle and fat to meat ratio was 90/10. But everything else tasted great. Now the sauces. Hubby ordered the Sweet and Sour Pork. I also got the grilled rice cakes as an appetizer. Everything came out pretty quickly. The rice cake sticks are fried to crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They're so good w the sweet spicy sauce drizzled on top. My soup was a bit of a challenge to me due to the abundant mix of pork "stuff": liver, blood sausage...etc. we both liked the delicious SS Pork. But I do wish this one had more stuff in it other than battered pork strips. When I return, I will try something more vanilla than the Sundae Gukbap: but more exciting than the SS pork.
