I just wanted to share some feedback about Mike at UFC Gym La Mirada. He made my enrollment process…read moreincredibly smooth from start to finish. He was professional, approachable, and took the time to clearly walk me through everything without making it feel overwhelming. What stood out the most was how easy he made the whole experience, he answered all my questions, stayed patient, and made sure I felt confident with my decision. That kind of service really sets the tone for new members. Mike is definitely an asset to the team and represents the gym very well. Appreciate the great experience.

Anthony wasn't just a coach -- he built athletes. He mentored, developed, and inspired students like me to grow beyond what we thought was possible. The Jiu-Jitsu program had identity, structure, and leadership. Recently, Coach Mikey Alcantar has been a great addition. He's skilled, motivating, and brings high-level instruction to the mats. The students genuinely respect him However, it's frustrating to see the gym consistently fail to retain quality Jiu-Jitsu coaches. Strong leadership keeps a program alive, and the instability has affected the community. On top of that, the Jiu-Jitsu class schedule is limited and not flexible enough for working adults. Serious students need consistent training opportunities. Because of poor coach retention and restricted class times, many dedicated students have felt forced to leave and train elsewhere. The gym has potential -- but without stable coaching and better scheduling, it's difficult for the Jiu-Jitsu program to thrive long term.

Master Lee = Amazing. We chose this studio over two years ago and I have watched my kids grow in body, mind and Spirit (no pun intended). The staff here from Master Cyril in the older days through the current staff have been nothing short of great. They are delicate where they need to be and tough when needed. They very much specialize in children. The studio has built and maintains a community feeling. They have definitely served the youth of La Mirada and the surrounding community by teaching discipline, confidence and self defense. They even participate in local tournaments if you are ready and they echo that sentiment. The sport of Taekwondo is definitely a great introduction to martial arts that develops flexibility, strength and balance. I'm very appreciative to Taekwondo Spirit for what my children have learned through them. Humility seems to flow through this place with nothing but respect given by and to everyone. The only "negative" I could even consider about the location is that the parking lot could get tight in the afternoon hours with the neighboring gym.

I had tried another studio in Whittier who are through the Regional Center (Victory Tae Kwon Do) but unfortunately even free lessons through were not worth it in comparison to here. My son was trained by master Cyril for about 1 year before their lack of availability and our school schedule conflicted to the point of no longer being able to fit us in. The studio is small so understandable, just sad. I realize teaching autistic kids is not their specialty, but I had gone to one other local studio in La Habra that basically turned us away because they didn't want to do the hands on work it takes to teach a child that lacks imitation skills, while another in Fullerton was extremely overpriced and for only 15 minute sessions in addition to being too far. I hope to come back to this studio soon if they have the availability.

What stands out immediately is the depth of instruction; he teaches actual technique rather than just a general physical education (PE). The classes balance the technicality of martial arts with core values like discipline, confidence, and respect, all while maintaining a lighthearted, age-appropriate environment that keeps the kids engaged and having fun. He truly goes the extra mile for his students and their families, hosting seasonal events that foster a wonderful sense of community. In speaking with him and observing his classes, it is clear he is both a proficient master of his craft and a genuinely good person. That warmth and patience clearly stems from his own experience as a father who has raised several children of his own. I highly recommend this academy. The rates are fair, and the environment is incredibly sincere. If you are looking for a place for yourself or your children to train, I encourage you to stop in and observe a class.

I can definitely see how this training can help my son in all aspects of life. My son was a bit reluctant to join and even gave us trouble in the beginning when it was time to go train but now it's something that he looks forward to. Coach Mark and his team are very courteous and attentive. They treat the children like their own. They teach physical and mental toughness as well as empathy and good sportsmanship. I recommend Gridlock academy all my friends and family.

My son has been attending Teragi for the last two years, so this review has been long overdue…read more The most important thing for myself was sending my child to a self defense art that actually applied practical methods of protecting oneself as well as a place that exemplified respect and self dependence. I've been to places where it seemed salesy or lacking authenticity. Teragi Academy is a place where they genuinely practice and instill jiu jitsu and its culture of honor and regard of others. The promotion of belts is carried out quarterly and only awarded based on merit. This is also something I greatly appreciate because I know many establishments that give out promotions for no reason at all. Since day one, the professors and coaches of this gym have been patient and meticulous in teaching techniques to the kids. Teragi has been instrumental in providing confidence as well as self awareness for my son. I've seen many of the other kids mature in their own ways for the past 2 years. It's always a wonder to see everyone come up together. For myself and my family, we seen so much growth and discipline in our boy. There's a comfort in knowing that our child is not left helpless and able to stand up himself as well as for others. I've been watching in the sidelines, two to three times a week, for the last 2 years. This is a program that provides a worthwhile experience. The benefit and journey is well worth the investment for anyone, young or old.

Teragi is a little far for me so it's my home away from home and I try to do drop in classes whenever I have the chance. I always learn something new and helpful that I can take back to my home gym. The other guys in the class are always welcoming and friendly so I recommend anyone to drop in. It's also one of the nicest facilities I've seen with a large rolling area and a side area with tables and couches for kids to hangout and wait if I'm doing an adult class. Teragi is worth a visit!
