I joined UFC Gym La Mirada four years ago after one Jiu-Jitsu trial class with Coach Anthony Renteria, and that single class changed my path completely. Anthony wasn't just a coach -- he built athletes. He mentored, developed, and inspired students like me to grow beyond what we thought was possible. The Jiu-Jitsu program had identity, structure, and leadership. Recently, Coach Mikey Alcantar has been a great addition. He's skilled, motivating, and brings high-level instruction to the mats. The students genuinely respect him However, it's frustrating to see the gym consistently fail to retain quality Jiu-Jitsu coaches. Strong leadership keeps a program alive, and the instability has affected the community. On top of that, the Jiu-Jitsu class schedule is limited and not flexible enough for working adults. Serious students need consistent training opportunities. Because of poor coach retention and restricted class times, many dedicated students have felt forced to leave and train elsewhere. The gym has potential -- but without stable coaching and better scheduling, it's difficult for the Jiu-Jitsu program to thrive long term. read more

I have trained at a lot of gyms, and UFC Gym La Mirada is easily one of the best I have stepped into. From the second I walked in, the professionalism stood out. The front desk was welcoming, the energy was positive, and everything felt structured and intentional. I had the chance to meet Mike, one of the managers, and he was outstanding. Extremely respectful, sharp, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in creating a high level environment. You can tell he leads with standards, not shortcuts. The cleanliness of this gym deserves its own paragraph. The floors are spotless. The equipment is organized and well maintained. The locker rooms are clean. It does not have that overcrowded, neglected feel some gyms in the LA area have. Everything feels premium and well managed. The layout is excellent. Plenty of space to train without feeling cramped. The equipment selection is strong whether you are lifting heavy, doing functional work, or getting into MMA style training. The culture is focused. People come here to work. If you are in La Mirada or anywhere nearby and you are serious about improving your fitness, strength, or overall discipline, this is the place. Not hype. Not marketing. Just quality. We switched gyms because our previous gym was always crowded and I could never get any machine or squat rack. Also that crowd was not inviting. Since joining UFC, I've had amazing workouts. There are always machines and weights available even in peak hours. Plus, all the staff members are friendly and super helpful. We're so glad we switched! read more

I've been a long-time member of this gym, and I want to start by saying the facility itself is great. The equipment is solid, the amenities are well-maintained, and overall it's a place I've genuinely enjoyed training at over the years. That's what makes this experience even more disappointing. I purchased a couple of personal training sessions at a discounted rate and was clearly told I had three months to use them. Not even two months later, I tried to book one of those sessions for a recovery workout, only to be told they had already expired. That alone was frustrating, but what really made it worse was how it was handled. The fitness director's (Aaron) response was simply, "but I texted you, but I texted you," repeated as if that somehow justified everything. For context, I never agreed to receive text messages from the gym in the first place. I get a high volume of messages daily because of work, which is exactly why I avoid giving out my number unless necessary. On top of that, one of the messages was sent in the middle of the night, which is completely unprofessional. Instead of taking accountability or trying to find a reasonable solution, it felt dismissive and poorly handled. There was no effort to resolve the situation or even acknowledge that the communication method itself was an issue. On top of that, I've started to notice things that raise bigger concerns. The general manager is a friendly guy, but openly promoting peptides and anabolic steroids as if they're harmless is concerning. I'm not against people making their own choices, but seeing that culture trickle into the gym environment--and now even finding needles in the locker room/bathroom area--is a serious problem and a major red flag. Again, the gym itself is great. But management and overall professionalism are a huge part of the experience, and right now that's what's making me seriously question whether I want to continue being a member here. If you're just looking for a place to work out, this gym delivers. But if you expect professionalism, clear communication, and a safe environment, you may want to think twice. read more

Cleanliness & repairs have gone downhill lately. There's always broken sinks, treadmills & stairmasters, dirty water filters that don't get changed & the restrooms are always dirty with no paper towels. But yet they want to charge extra $10 if you go over a minute in your childcare time. I'm late to pick up my kids because I have to wait in line in the restroom to wash my hands due to the broken sinks. UFC please fix these issues if you want to keep increasing pricing for us. read more

My family and I have been coming to UFC LaMirada/Brea for some time. I signed up when this location first opened. I have always enjoyed the gym, equipment, and the people who come here. I have always taken my kids, which are both in High School with me as guests with no issues. The whole reason behind me purchasing my membership and my wife's membership was to use the advertised "guest pass" for our kids to come join us as well. This is how the membership was sold to us and we were told by UFC's sales associate that our kids can join us with our membership. Fast forward to around Christmas time of last year. The staff started giving my daughter a hard time and said she can't come in as a guest anymore because she's not 18. It makes no sense to me to why my kids can no longer come into this gym. They said I would have to purchase a kids pass now. On one of the times they denied my daughter access one of the managers pulled me to the side and started breaking down memberships to purchase to allow her in. I think that's a sleazy sales tactic to sell more memberships. What a joke, all other UFC locations have no issues with my kids coming in but La Mirada. I can understand if my kids were going in there alone or being a liability, but we the parents are accompanying them and using proper gym etiquette. I hope you guys can make it make sense with what you're trying to accomplish. Pretty sad, my high school kids can't work out because you're more worried about selling another pass. read more

Sometimes we are quick to judge a situation. Although conditions here may not always be ideal, they work with the blows they are given. I guess someone stop cooper piping so the water was off this day. Flash forward to today, this place has been removed and everything is running as it should. I've been coming here for about a year after switching from Gold's Gym, and I absolutely love it. I've trained with Omar and Max, both amazing boxing coaches and taken group classes with JD, who's also top notch. My family and I will not be coming back to this location. My husband and I got memberships along with our plus one guest pass for each of our children (both in HS) so they can come with us, but this location gave my self and my daughter a hard time trying to go in. I have been going to this UFC location since it opened 8 years ago but I did stop going during covid for a while. As i returned in early 2023 I noticed the gym is still looking decent but definitely is showing some age. Just a couple issues I have noticed such as the bathrooms tend to not have paper towels a lot of the time and it smells like urine pretty bad frequently. This odor doesn't come from a couple days of not cleaning that takes a long time to develop. The other issue is there's only about 3-6 mats available no matter what time of the day or morning. I go mostly at 5am and there's only a few and the gym is empty. These mats looks 8 years old they're are disgusting and falling apart. They really need to invest some money and get more for a gym of any size especially a big size gym like this. read more

Love love love the gym, but the trainers here are not that good I'm someone who trains with marines and navy air rescue team so I was not impressed by the bald white guy "training MMA" he usually wears a beanie idk his name. waste of money to buy classes that they don't teach you anything but wasting your valuable time. Other than that, the gym is clean, equipment is on point and it plays good music if you forgot headphones. Don't purchase the classes though. Trainers don't know what they are doing. read more

Listen to the negative reviews for this gym - the management staff here can be crooks and liars - DO NOT SIGN UP HERE. They will lie, use illegal tactics and do nothing but sit in their office and stare at their instagrams all day. The fascility is large and when you walk in you'll notice how empty it is for a reason. I know lots of people that work in the gym industry including other UFC locations - this can be one of the worst gyms in Orange County. This gym cycles through GMs like you've never seen and it has continuously went downhill from cleanliness, working machines, you can kiss the recovery room goodbye those machines are always broken and only good to sell you into a contract then you realize they're never available for use. My review from 2023 was taken down recently so here it is again: I am a member at the UFC Gym in La Mirada, California. On 2/6/23 I went into the La Mirada Gym at about 4:00 pm to downgrade my membership because I no longer need the daycare option for my son. The worker at the front desk said I needed to wait for her manager. The manager James Thomas ignored me and helped another customer who came in after me. He asked me to wait a moment. I went to sit down to continue to wait and he yelled at me "Don't sit down! Don't sit down!" (Cameras should be able to show this at 4:00pm-4:10pm) I was startled by this but shrugged it off. He soon helped me and continued to ask me repeatedly if I was sure if I wanted to do this. I said yes. He finally went through with the process and said he "did me a favor" and was not going to charge me any fees. When I went home however, I saw that he put in the new contract that I was to pay $49 on 4/7/23. I called him back immediately and asked him to clarify why I would be charged in two months. He said it was an "annual fee." I tried to explain to him that I started the gym in June of 2022 and that if I were paying an annual fee it should be in June, not April. He would not let me talk at all and kept trying to explain what an "annual fee" is. I explained that I understand what an annual fee was but that I should not be charged two annual fees in less than a year's time. The phone conversation we had became increasingly uncomfortable as he would not let me speak and then kept telling me I was interrupting him (this was quite the opposite). His tone was very aggressive and he was yelling at me throughout the call. Throughout the conversation he was belittling and said I "have a bad attitude." I asked to speak to a different manager. He asked me to hold and then hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak to the manager again and I was immediately put on hold which is strange. If we got disconnected he did not make any attempts to call me back. No managers would answer my calls so I had to go back in person. The second time I was helped by Chris Sandoval. He was very apologetic about the situation and offered to help me immediately. He was going to remove the new annual fee. At this point I told him I felt very comfortable going to a gym where the general manager yelled at me multiple times and called me names. He said he completely understood and said I would have access to the gym until April 2023. All of this because I wanted a downgrade. The general manager is shady and will try to charge you fees. Please read your contract! I have just contacted corporate and asked them to review their cameras. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GYM! read more

Is sad to spend the time to write about this location because the employees in general are very kind, caring, friendly and professional on what they do, unfortunately I had the worst experience with the person that is supposed to be a best representation of the Gym values specially when it comes to someone who is responsible for the leadership as a role model for the employees, subordinates or teammates as is expected one would think is to be find in a establishment like this when paying members are normally using the facility for their own purposes, the problem is, if there is a complaint on a location where the employee is the one expected the least likely to be the one providing the worst possible customer service experience, I was approached by this person who responds to the name of Robert or Bobby as I found out later in which not only once but twice that he shown a complete disregard and unprofessional behavior when attempting to question about me properly registered my visit and printed my voucher to be able to assist a class that I have attended for years since I moved to the neighborhood, when I learned about his position is that I felt bad for the people who have to deal with this person who has no idea what customer service is all about, he might not care about this post, probably and hope none else is offended by this post but I felt so embarrassed and disgusted as I was disrespected by the way he directed to me not once but twice as I mentioned, sadly he is the District or Regional Manager? Seems like is time for me to look for other options if this person is in charge of this location hope someone can be there to assist and make sure that is not a set as a core value that could destroy the reputation earned by the rest of the team, will see and time will tell. The Gym is clean and has a Variety of equipment to select when working out. The only downside is a parking ,when you have a line of Electric vehicles wanting to use the electric stations,it prevents you in the parking stalls. read more
