Bao bao steam and pan fried, pork belly lotus leaf bun
    Arianna R.

Food was fresh and delicious. The flavor was great, would be better if there was a little more meat but still tasty nonetheless. You order and pay using a QR code at each parking spot. We ordered the steamed mapo tofu bao bao, pork belly lotus leaf bun, pan fried saucy pork bao bao, and the chili sauce which I didn't realize was going to be a whole jar but thats okay because I needed some for my house anyway. Would eat here again for a little snack/lunch.

My family and our friend just had THE BEST experience here. It's hard to find good Chinese food here in the San Antonio area and this, coming from a Chinese/Taiwanese American, I can safely say that this is 100% authentic and so delicious. You can preorder on their website and call to pick it up same day or next day. I am so ecstatic that we got a chance to come eat here. My brother who lives in the area has a new go to place! You can't go wrong with any of the options but we tried their 6 piece pork buns, their pork belly sliders, and a green onion pancake and green onion pancake with meat. The staff who greeted us was so kind and thoughtful- had the food super hot and fresh for us and gave us extra plates to share. We wish the most success for Kung fu baobao!

Their chili sauce makes for a perfect bite.

So, after yoga on Saturday, I decided that I'm going to start exploring all the various food options available on my way home. That day, I must say that this is much like Zaatar's Lebanese Grill, I will be revisiting this little gem. At the intersection of Fredericksburg Road and Blue Mel, you will find a refurbished Sonic Drive-In now called Kung Fu Baobao. You simply drive up. Use the QR code to order and pay. I have found when a menu has multiple languages it's got to be good. And it was. Delicious. Fresh. The Lotus Leaf Bun with Pork Belly is a must try. They give you samples of their homemade chili sauce for that perfect bite. The Pan Fried Bao with Beef was my mamacita's favorite.

Fantastic!!! The saucy pork and the pancake were amazing!!!! Will definitely go back!!!!

I tried a new bao spot and got the cha siu pork and mapo tofu fillings! The cha siu pork was my favorite. The filling was generous and was both sweet and savory. The mapo tofu was a unique filling, but it was a little salty. The bao buns re-steam really well at home, with a damp paper towel in microwave or in the steamer plate of your rice cooker/steamer. Prices were very reasonable.

Renovated a sonic so it's all curbside. No dumplings but has baobao buns and pancakes. I called the number and placed my order and changed it to a 20 count. It's cheaper than a regular food truck and I ordered a 8 ounce jar of chili oil for my home. next time I'm gonna try the pancakes and the lotus bun with the pork belly because those look really good. Highly recommend a 20 count with all four of the flavors that they have of baobao. Savory pork was my nieces favorite and the mapo tofu is my favorite. Make sure to drizzle some chili oil. It is more savory than spicy with all the seeds and peanuts in it. Highly recommend.

I arrived just as they closed. I did not expect to be waited on, or get anything at all. I certainly did not expect the beautiful lady to come out & let me order. I was honestly taking a photo of the menu, & was preparing to drive away. But, she said they had a little bit left. I said why not, right?!!! I had been trying to get over for some time. My doctor's appointment went over time. Don't they always. I digress. But, she said they still had the Hair left, & that's what I wanted. So, I ordered the saucy pork, pork, beef, & tofu. It was all around $32 & so worth it. Fed me for three days! Because one box "worth" did not make it home!! I tried the saucy pork right out of the parking lot. Them, proceeded to quickly consume two more. Those were so good. Fresh, hot & delicious. I'm a sucker for good a Bao, well, Kung Fu BaoBao has a loyal new customer. Once I got home I did try one of each of the others for dinner, & saved my favorite for the third day, & honestly it was still good. I reheated as she recommended, I pan fried them. The tofu bao was my absolute favorite. The flavor was so fresh. The beef is more of the typical meatball style, pork was the sliced meat style, the saucy one was a ground pork or sausage style. I liked them all. The beef the least, just personal preference with my texture issues.‍ Tofu will be my go-to bao! Its savory, nice gravy veggies with it. I look forward to returning & working my way through the menu. Incredible service, food & prices! New favorite place!!!

Drove up to the old sonic stall to try the bao here. You scan the qr code on the menu and order your food on there. There is no speaker or mic at the stall. Someone will come out of the place and bring you your food. The service wait was fine about 20 minutes but the food was fresh and really pretty tasty. My favorite was the saucy pork bao and tofu. The beef and pork bao could have used more filling.

The place is located inside an old sonic restaurant. They offer a menu that you can scan with the QR code or call to place an order. First time my order took a while. But soon after I just figured I order ahead just so I can pickup and go. When I do that my buns are still warm and tasty to eat.

I have tried all 4 flavors of steam bao buns. They are all good but saucy pork is my favorite. The bao bun is not very big. It is a little less than 3" in diameter and about 1" in height. The inside is not stuffed. The wrapper is very fluffy and soft. I recommend you purchase the 20 pieces Bao Box. That is the best value. You can freeze them and they reheat very well. I put it in the microwave for around 25 seconds. The order process is very simple and easy. They pack and label them separately.

I found this place on google map by mistake and decided to go check it out. It appears to be a Sonic converted into a Chinese style restaurant. Yes please! I called the number to see how it works. A very sweet lady answered and explained to me that I can order with her and when it is ready she will bring it out. I ordered the baos to go... anyways they do not have a sit down place. Around 10 minutes later she came out with the order with the friendliest smile! I drove off eating them in the car and burning myself... it was delicious! Absolutely delicious! I will definitely be back to try more things off the menu

It was the in between time of late lunch 2:30-3pm so we thought we would miss the Sunday afternoon church rush. The parking lot and restaurant was full but didn't let it scare us. Only had to wait 5 mins. Don't let the full restaurant fool you. The wait staff checks in often and moves tables very fast. Pro tip- you can hang outside and check out the koi fish in the pond to kill some time Sat down and drinks came out fast ordered dim sum which came out in the cute steam baskets first. Shrimp Shumai and pork bao buns were so good. My kids asked for seconds We also ordered the sweet and sour chicken, spicy eggplant/tofu, shrimp& broccoli and the combination fried rice. Everything was perfectly seasoned with the exception of the sweet and sour chicken. It was very bland. Next time I want to order the orange peel chicken instead. Looked good and now we know! So much food we'll have leftovers for a few days. Score!

My daughter and I cannot recommend this restaurant. It was better 15 years ago…read more It is too westernize now; meaning the food is more cater/made for western taste. When you walk in up to the restaurant, the view of ponds with large koi fish was very welcoming, however as soon as you open the door/walk in...it's a chaos of sports on tv and western music that will burst your burst your tranquility from the front of the restaurant. The restaurant was busy since it was lunch. We were seated right away. However it took the waitress a few before knowledge our small table. The waitress was in a hurry and look like she already had a bad day. She asked quickly what we would like the drink and we said water and hot tea but ask what type of tea they have? She mumble something I could not understand. So my daughter ask for green tea. We started off with appetizer as usual. Shrimp toast, chicken wrap, Asian bbq ribs then a cup of hot & sour soup. Main dish were Moo Shu Pork and Mongolian beef. Soup came out first...it was lukewarm. Cup was hot but soup was lukewarm. It was vinegary and salty. This is the first time I had seen/tasted imitation crab meat in a hot and sour soup. I'd flag the waitress down to let her know the soup was cold and if she can bring me another or warm it up for me. She gave me an annoying look and took the soup back to the kitchen. The Asian bbq ribs come out then the shrimp toast a few minutes later. The shrimp toast looks appealing. The shrimp were whole shrimp on top of bread, fried bread. It was ok...no real taste and a bit greasy. There were too much honey and chewy/tough for the Asian ribs. My soup comes back hot to touch... which means it was microwave...but not an issues; what was is ...it was still lukewarm soup. I try to finish it but couldn't. Soup needs to be hot; especially hot & sour soup. The chicken lettuce wrap was delivered. It was again salty; no real taste, except for the salt. A lot of mushrooms over powering the this dish. Keep in mind we had a small table and dishes are pilling up. It took a few before anyone came to pickup the plates. Half way through our appetizer, the waitress dropped off Togo boxes with a bag right after the chicken wrap was dropped off.... Staying it's for later. So we went ahead and packup the appetizers into the Togo boxes to make room. The main dishes came out about 10 minutes later. My daughter was very surprised by her Mongolian beef. It looks more like pepper steak then Mongolian beef. Most Mongolian beef are cook with green onions, yellow onion, garlic, sesame seeds and large slices of beef...some with a little sauce other dry so this is a the first for us to see a Mongolian beef looks like that. It was again too salty. There was more bell pepper than beef. The beef was slice small. The moo shu pork come out already wrap?? Which confuse me. Most of the time the thin rice pancake is on the side and moo shu pork is a little sweet and savory that comes with plum sauce so you can spread as little or lot of plum sauce into the rice pancake then top it off with moo shu pork. Since it was all roll up...it was very messy trying to pull it open to put the plum sauce. The dish lack favors...it had a char like taste. Usually moo shu pork is very flavorful and fill with flavorful juice from the ingredients like cabbages, bamboo, onion, mushrooms and eggs. There was no favor except a char taste. I have eaten here before a long time ago and it's definitely not the same taste/food and experience. We pack the food home so we can get a second opinion from other family members and the results were the same. I would never recommend for anyone looking for Asian cuisine. But if you like America/Asian cuisine/atmosphere then this is a place for you.

It's a little expensive, even for a weekend. You would expect more and better choices for the prices we paid. About $80 for two adults and a midget. They had your typical fare. The least favs-ribs(tough/dry and no flavor), steak(tough and under seasoned), steam buns(the filling just no), bourbon chicken(dry chicken and not enough sauce), and the consensus least fav were all the desserts. There was flying bugs, and everything was super dry and tasted old. I get it, what do expect for a Chinese buffet in San Antonio? Well I expect no flying insects in the desserts for the price I paid. Also, 75 % of the fruit we got was as tough as the steak. Oh, and the cold shrimp, either overcooked or thawed the wrong way. The shell was practically glued on. The positives-all the rice and noodle dishes were good to ok. The hot and sour soup was really good! The teriyaki chicken was actually good. The bigger sauced rib was good. The kimchi was some of the better we've had recently. The spring rolls with peanut were good. The two fish dishes we had(fried and not fried) were actually quite nice. All the breads were good. The waitress was very nice and attentive. Almost forgot, the bathrooms were kinda gross. They need to be kept clean. Will not come back again.

The buffet options are good, but their general tso's chicken is not the best (and I judge how good overall Chinese buffets on this lol). A surprise hit is the sautéed green beans, which are perfectly cooked and garlicky--just like how you'd find it traditionally cooked in Chinese cuisine. I also think they're deep fried (salt and pepper?) shrimp (next to the crawfish) is very delicious. Plates are cleared pretty quickly and the buffet space is kept orderly and decently clean.
