Trust, compassion, acceptance, kindness, support... these are just a few words that describe the…read morequalities that Linda, Bob and staff nurture at The Neilson Academy. What is most important is that they accept each student as an individual and develop a curriculum that carefully strengthen core levels of learning. This in turn develops a more self confident child. Elliott had a very challenging time in the public school system before finding The Neilson Academy. With in six months Elliott has developed consistent work habits, he has learned an inner responsibility toward him self and a greater respect for others. The Neilson Academy creates a safe nurturing environment for this type of development. Elliott has a stronger sense of himself and understanding on how to realize his dreams of being an actor. The Neilson Academy embraces each child and their unique individual potential. As a parent I felt completely safe about dropping him off everyday, I as a parent felt supported knowing that Elliott was loved and honored, with compassionate direction. Elliott is a more confident and determined child, which has much to do with the stewarding of this special school and staff. With Gratitude, Elizabeth Moore

First, when we had arrived to the address, i was not sure if it was the right place; for it being the house not a commercial building. Dear parent, don't be mislead by the number of reviews they have, this little kingdom of knowledge is such a gem, your child will benefit from learning here in so many ways. I'm excited and my baby is willing to come back to visit Mrs. Linda. I trust my daughter, if she liked the person and the energy of the house, we're in the right place!

My son did get the help he needed for his 6th grade advanced math struggles and final testing.Their professionalism isn't questionable. What got me disappointed is the impressive greediness, excessive ambition, a slight inflexibility. I asked for a meeting/consultation to get feedback from my son's tutor, to determine if he was in the right math program at school. I asked for a brief 5 to 10 minutes. They suggested that it wasn't enough time to talk so they suggested 30 minutes, I said ok. Then one of the owners said they would charge me $ 30 for the 30 minutes because it was the tutors time. I suggested this was overboard with their policy when I only need 5-10 minutes. They replied that they have charged $100 for consultation. It sounded to me like a law firm more than a tutor center. The sensation I was left with was that the chance they get to milk money from me they will do it. They are also willing to burn a long term client for $30 dollars. Their payment policy is not open or inviting for a long term business relationship. They give you $10 discount if you pay 5 classes in advance ( $65 x hr). If not you pay $75 the hour and in advance as well. In today's market, flexibility and keeping up with market trends is key to making business fresh and alive. So if you as a parents are seeking for a quick alternative for your child to get through exams and finals, go for this tutoring center, but it is a quick fix. If you are seeking for a long term tutoring with client accommodation go somewhere else even if other tutoring places are more expensive. For long term and regular tutoring as an option it is best to have flexibility in payment processing. They don't have Venmo, PayPal, etc. they write your credit card number on a paper and keep it on file.We are already struggling, juggling life to help our children be their best, to complicate with tutoring hassles when there are lots of tutoring options. Director Christina Jun and her family were all very active at the Burbank location back in the day. I have always remembered her strong and loving leadership fondly throughout the years. I always wondered what happened after I graduated from high school since I moved away to Berkeley. I started going there since the 3rd or 4th grade. I was going through a rough childhood and being supported by a single mother, but everyone there always made me felt included and appreciated. Top Learning Center nurtured my work ethic and endless curiosity. I got 3 years ahead in math thanks to everything I learned at Top Learning Center. Although I did end up changing my career trajectory due to a fun job opportunity in college and didn't stay in STEM, I still got into my dream school, which changed my life forever and for the better. I will always be grateful to Top Learning Center for that. I don't think I ever got to say a formal thank you or goodbye because of how busy I got in high school. As a parent, your natural reaction is to look over the subject matter as well as trying to remember what was taught when you were going to school at about the same age. You ask your child what and /or how they were taught. You realize that you either don't remember alot or that what you know is not what they are teaching today. You try to contact the teacher and explain your childs situation, but they can't/don't help. This is where C2 can be an asset for you and your child. C2 is not based a program where your child is given a book and timed on how quickly they can answer the questions. Maggie the director, will tailor a study program specifically for your child. It can be in the specific subject matter, multiple subjects, or just general tutoring. With all of the after school events, appointments, and practices, your tutoring schedule can vary day by day and week by week. C2 also has extra materials to not only help your child to be proficient, but to help them be excellent. My kids have stated numerous times about how the C2 tutors have helped them understand the subject matter and wished their teachers at school could have explained it that way to help them understand. Maggie and her staff will get to know your child and match them with the appropriate tutor. She will also help with selecting courses for school, and later, with college selection that is most appropriate based on how well your child has done, and their personality. C2 also offers an extensive ACT/SAT test prep program and has helped my kids with their college applications. So, you will be offered a number of hours to purchase. The more hours you purchase, the lesser the cost per hour. It may seem alot, but if you have looked into getting a good tutor, you will see that the C2 hours are very competitive. Just go talk to Maggie and see what C2 is about and what it has to offer, and I believe you will find value in what is presented. C2 is more than just tutoring. Maggie can be a crucial partner in helping you and your child navigate this complex education journey. My kid's current results: 1) Graduated from a US Military Academy and is attending grad school. 2) Attending a private college and is applying to grad school. 3) Attending a University of California school.
