Both were terrible. They spent so much time expecting you to do the problems or write essays while they sat there on their phones for like 60 minutes. The last 15 minutes were spent reviewing and giving me advice. Jenny spent more time being my therapist than teaching me the material and made me watch YouTube videos instead of just drawing it out and explaining it to me. She should've assigned that as homework and then gone over it afterward. I know more about her entire life story moving from a different country and dropping pre-med than I do about AP Biology. I also later found out that the head director there, Jane, scammed my parents for more money. Right before I submitted my college essays, she asked my parents for hundreds of dollars to help pay the tutors since they supposedly weren't doing well economically. My parents couldn't say no because my college essays were on the line. What disgusting behavior to put parents through, especially when they were already paying thousands for tutoring sessions. I'm livid because I only found out two years later. As for James, he probably spent 90% of the time on his phone and 10% helping me write my college essays. I have evidence as well. He was so unwelcoming and would get annoyed with me if I didn't understand the advice he gave me. I would dread going to his sessions and feel extremely uncomfortable the entire time because he would just sit in front of me behind a glass frame, glancing up from his phone from time to time while I typed away on my laptop. I would never be able to ask follow-up questions because I would be met with so much attitude.

My child not only gets homework done on time, but also receives the extra support and encouragement needed to understand the material better. The environment is safe, organized, and very positive. I really appreciate how they balance homework help with fun activities, so the kids stay motivated and happy after a long school day. I highly recommend The Homework Corner to any parent looking for a reliable, supportive, and educational after-school program for their child!

Which for us 80's and 90's generation of parents is a completely foreign concept! Plus they host fun activities like movie nights and other cool events that actually make the kids look forward to going to the center to see their friends and favorite tutors (And give parents a few evening hours of respite for a much needed date night!). This place is VERY understated and probably could be charging quadruple what they do. A lot of places have good staff but I think what sets this place apart is the company culture, which is no small factor when your kid is trying to thread the needle through all of the little details that matter in the application process (and those little things do matter if your dream is one of the top schools). The staff members all work as a team, surrounding your kid with an army of people who not only know what they're doing, (you can get that at a lot of places) but who ACTUALLY CARE and personally go above and beyond to see them succeed. They almost feel like extended family, an army of support. You can pay someone to help your kid out with applications, but you can't pay Somone to actually care! That is the difference with Elite. I don't know what or how they go about hiring people or what they do to foster that type of culture but the benefits of it go to your kid and in our case the results speak for themselves. Sure my kid is smart, has near perfect grades and test scores but so do thousands of other kids with near identical profiles. Elite helped my kid stand out from the crowd. If your kids attend the La Crescenta school they pick your kids up from school and bring them back to one of there locations depending on what grade your child is now. Wish i knew of this place when my daughter was in K, she could have gotten a jump start like my son did before he attended K. They employ young tutors that have just finished high school so whatever is being thought in text books if fresh for the tutors to remember how to do the work and teach your child. La Crescenta schools are very tough, all the kids are attending some kind of after school program to meet and exceed expectations of the teachers. If you were like myself and works all day and then has to come home and go over home work with your kids then i would suggest you go with Yail. They help in group and one on one environments to make sure your child knows the work and gets their homework done without ever getting frustrated like i would get trying to help my child understand.
