The owners and staff have dedicated many years to this school, making a lasting difference in the lives of children across generations, and it truly shows in everything they do. My son gained so much from an early age--learning how to color, hold a pencil correctly, write his name, and even begin addition and subtraction. The summer camps are excellent, the dance classes are fun and engaging, and the holiday celebrations beautifully reflect diversity and respect for all cultures. The environment is warm, welcoming, and inclusive, which made us feel comfortable from the very beginning. While we are sad to be leaving Montessori, we are also very proud that our son is ready for his next step. We are grateful for everything this school has given him and highly recommend House of Children to other families

Before I give a glowing and deeply heartfelt review of the experience our family has had at…read moreMontessori House of Children with both of our boys, I want to share a broader thought, because context matters, especially when parents are making one of the most important decisions of their lives. I think it is fundamentally unfair when a school receives a one-star review based purely on a parent's expectation of what they think an accredited Montessori environment should be, particularly when that opinion comes from a misunderstanding, limited exposure, or without ever actually attending or engaging with the school. Montessori education is nuanced, intentional, and often misunderstood when viewed through a traditional lens. What troubles me most is how quickly some people run to leave damaging reviews without first asking questions, seeking clarity, or having a conversation with the school. Educators and administrators put their entire lives into the well-being of these children and the integrity of their program. Parents rely on real, lived experiences when deciding to place their children in someone else's care, and highly subjective or reactionary reviews do not serve that trust or decision-making process. I truly believe that if something feels off, the first step should be to pause, gather information, and talk with the school. If, after genuine effort and understanding, you still feel strongly, then by all means leave a review. But perspective matters. And if you take a moment to look at some of the most extreme one-star profiles, you will often notice a pattern. Volatility, absolutes, and very little middle ground. Life, and education, rarely works that way. Now onto what actually matters. Our older son graduated from Montessori House of Children and is now thriving in first grade. Our younger son is about to graduate this year. Over the years, we have watched both boys grow not just academically, but emotionally, socially, and independently. This school helped shape who they are as learners and as people. The teachers are patient, intentional, and deeply invested. The environment fosters confidence, curiosity, responsibility, and respect. These are core Montessori principles that are clearly lived, not just advertised. Our children felt safe, seen, challenged, and supported. We will always be grateful for the foundation Montessori House of Children gave our family. It is not just a school. It is a community that genuinely cares about children and their development. I recommend it without hesitation to parents seeking a thoughtful, authentic Montessori experience.

Our son Anakin is…read morea pandemic baby, and our previous daycare wasn't as kind about his separation anxiety and needing to adjust him not having his dad and I with him. We started looking for a new daycare, and OLM was already established well on Google search as well as newsworthy with their website showcasing the diverse lessons, hardworking staff and their transparent communication with the children's grown ups on all happenings and their schedule. The tuition is fair, you're paying for safety so the kids aren't leaving the property or even worse, the wrong grown up because there's a code to the gate door and finger print that gets registered. They're strict about pick up and drop off including with people not on the paperwork, so it's greatly appreciated. You're paying for the teacher's experience and time, paying for supplies and awesome snacks, and are accommodating with making sure you are aware of any changes. We paid A LOT more at our previous daycare, and Anakin wasn't getting the help he needed so safe to say this daycare is of great value! Since Anakin has been in daycare, he's had A LOT of improvement on his independence, making friends, learning new skills (they do lessons incorporating Arabic and Spanish too, it's so rad!) and being confident in all his learning milestones. Miss Joseline, Hajra and their team of such patient, kind and supportive teachers are brilliant in every way! They use an App posting photos of the kids each day (and is quite secure, so your kids photos aren't public) as well as their mealtimes, what they ate (they have great snack time and try to accommodate/encourage picky eaters - like my kid), potty time and lesson schedules! They're also very helpful in reporting cleanings, incidents, fun activities (a dentist came today to teach the kids about dental health and the littles came home with a dental bag!). My husband and I do a lot of volunteer charity work, and the daycare asks families to help with just a few hours a year with activities to help keep the kids stimulated and even learn about their cultures and customs! We had a lot of fun with teaching the ways of the Force, and even about Dia de Los Muertos last year. The kids and teachers had a lot of fun learning and seeing how we celebrate and enjoy our favorite things. Grown ups should ALWAYS be involved in their child's education, and showing up any way we can means so much. Every month, a child is selected for their little Donor and the teachers donate a part of their wages to a charity of that child's choice! It's really inclusive and fun to see how much of a difference it makes to have kids who actually look forward to attending school. We love you OLM!

Now, four years later, he is graduating as a Blossom, their equivalent of Transitional Kindergarten. Among his graduating class, he is the longest attending student and the very first child to start as a Seedlet and complete all four years of the program from beginning to end. We proudly refer to him as a founding member and a LIFER! Watching our child grow alongside his cohort of classmates over these past four years has been such a special experience for our family, and for all of the families who have been part of this journey together. Mariya, the administrator, not only has the professional background and expertise, but more importantly the personality, talent, passion, and true calling to make this establishment the magical place that it is. She has an incredible ability to build diverse, beautifully balanced classroom communities, and her continued investment in both talent and professional development for the staff truly sets Harmon Oaks apart in meaningful and developmentally impactful ways. One of the things that immediately stood out to us, and completely put us at ease as first-time parents enrolling our child in a nursery program, was how thoughtful and intentional their onboarding process is. Instead of introducing many children at once, they bring them in one at a time so each child has the opportunity to build trust, bond with the teachers, and adjust to the environment in a calm and supported way before another child joins. That level of care made a tremendous difference in our son's transition into preschool. He bonded with his teachers very quickly, and we truly believe that strong foundation shaped how secure, confident, and excited he felt coming to school every single day. Harmon Oaks has created something truly special with their Reggio-inspired, STEM-focused approach. The environment encourages curiosity, creativity, collaboration, problem solving, and independence in ways that feel natural and joyful for children. Over the years, we have watched our son grow academically, socially, and emotionally through hands-on learning experiences that genuinely sparked his love of learning. Our son is graduating from preschool already equipped with foundational reading and writing skills, a deep sense of mathematical thinking, problem solving abilities, a love for experimenting and discovery, basic sign language, class etiquette, self regulation, and genuine respect for both friends and teachers. But most importantly, he is graduating with a true love for learning and a strong sense of belonging within a collaborative classroom community. That, to us, is the greatest gift a school can give a child. The teachers and staff have been extraordinary throughout every stage, from Seedlets to Sprouts to Bloomers and now Blossoms. They are warm, attentive, patient, and deeply invested in each child's development. It always felt like our son was truly known, understood, and cared for as an individual. As parents, there is nothing more meaningful than knowing your child feels safe, loved, challenged, and excited to learn. Harmon Oaks NoHo West gave our family that and so much more. We are endlessly grateful for the role they played in our son's early childhood, and we could not recommend them more highly. PS: I just asked my son if he wanted me to include anything extra in my review and he said "You forgot to name all the teachers I love! Ms. Amy, Ms. Emily, Ms. Joy, Ms. Mariana, Ms. Reyna, Ms. Anahit, Coach Pancake, Ms. Mariya has also been my teacher in every class and she is so proud of me. I am going to go back to read books for them when I am in kindergarten!"

I had two kids at Mary Alice over the past 6 years…read more Our oldest started during the pandemic, when you had to drop off your little one at the door and a staff member would take their little hand and toddle them off to class. The friendly woman who usually greeted us was Lily, the front desk person at the time. We grew to really trust Lily and she has since become this center's director! Amanda, the director when we started, is now regional director. I cannot say enough good things about them. They orchestrate a complicated environment involving small children, teachers, and parents in a kind and professional way. Lily still takes a moment to say hi at morning dropoff. Her right hand is Priscilla, who was a long time teacher at the school and is incredibly competent. She and Lily manage everything and plan adorable events like Pre-K graduation, Halloween parades, Mothers and Fathers day events, and Christmas recitals. There's a core of amazing teachers here-dedicated folks who have been at the center for years and seem to have endless patience with the kids. As is typical in childcare, there is some turnover outside that core group. There's a strong community at the school, and during our time we were lucky enough to have amazing parents who ran the Boosters organization. The MAOC Boosters is all volunteer and raises extra money for the school, buying new toys, enrichment classes, and equipment, as well as teacher appreciation. Most fun for my family were events like Easter parties, treasure hunts, St. Patrick's Day parties, movie theater rentals... the list goes on. They're great friendship building opportunities for the kids and adults. We've made many family friends at the school over the years. The Boosters is run by volunteers, so I really can't thank them enough. There are five classrooms by age at MOAC and each has their own vibe. Our youngest went through every classroom starting from infants. They're all great. Discovery preschool was always my favorite-a magical time where their little personalities start to really shine, with especially great teachers. Preschool was always a little crazy for us, I think because of the stage of development. Then PreK was great and we had the same three teachers for both kids. I feel like the children started to really learn things in PreK like they're in school. Ms. Emma ran Learning Adventures, an optional extra where she'd pull kids out in a small group to work on letters and words. I think it really made a difference and my kids loved Ms Emma! Here are the cons: Everything everyone has ever told you is true... when you start daycare- anywhere- you and your kid are going to get sick. A LOT in the beginning. Lily and the team will send e-mails updating you on whatever hideous ailment is floating around your kid's classroom. Keep your own kid home when they're sick and trust other parents are doing the same. I promise it slowly gets better. Second con: it's expensive. We spent an arm and a leg over these last six years, several of those years paying for two kids at the same time. The cost slowly decreases depending on the classroom, and starting in Discovery you can do fewer days per week, which are cheaper still. But you're going to want to put that lake house on hold. Also, you'll get a notice of tuition increase every year. Since we started, it's been anywhere from 3-4% per year so factor that in as well. I want to address some negative reviews still floating around online from before we even started at the school. We've been on the waitlist ourselves. The reality is that demand for good daycare is high and outweighs supply. There is also sibling preference for admission (which I completely support). I've seen more than one reviewer allude to the idea that the center is for big shot studio execs or something. I mean, it IS Burbank, CA so there are quite a few people in the entertainment industry but I was still freelance when we started here. One commentator even talked about all the nice cars at drop off (I guess they never saw my 2003 Subaru out there!) In reality, there's a mix of people from different backgrounds and professions. It's not just for the elite. Friendly suggestion for the school: I wish there was a better way to meet new teachers before dropoff. On a couple occasions, an e-mail announced a new person in the classroom. But at dropoff, familiar staff might be busy, leading to an awkward moment introducing yourself while simultaneously peeling a clingy child off of you to give them to this new person you just met. I bet there's a smoother way to do this! Lastly, I just want to thank Lily, Priscilla, Amanda, Emma, Naira, Yara, Marisa, Michele, Patty, Jasmine, Jailene, Jonde, Breanna, Shyan... there's too many people to name from over the years. Just, thank you to the staff. You have my eternal gratitude for helping us raise these children through such a busy, fun, hard, happy, difficult, but beautiful time in our lives.
