My daughter recently had her last day at Petite School House after spending over two wonderful years with their incredible team, and I cannot express how grateful I am for the love, care, and support they have provided our family. As a first-time mom, I had many concerns about transitioning my daughter into a preschool program, but the Petite team quickly reassured me and made the experience such a positive one. From the very beginning, every staff member was warm, welcoming, and genuinely invested in the children. One of the things that stood out most was that every teacher knew my daughter by name, even those who were not her direct teachers, which truly showed how connected and caring the entire team is. Ms. Salmeena and Ms. Marilyn have built such a special program. Their dedication, leadership, and attention to detail are evident in everything they do, from the thoughtful planning to the incredible support they provide to both teachers and families. I cannot say enough positive things about our experience at Petite. The impact this team has had on my daughter's growth, confidence, and development has meant so much to our family. I can't say enough wonderful things about Petite. My son started at Petite the moment he turned 2, and it was the best decision we could have made. I've had two boys attend Petite School House, so I had been with the school for at least 4 years. Although I live in Sherman Oaks, I was willing to commute because I absolutely love Petite School, and the staff. They are the perfect blend of caring, safe, thoughtful, and child-centered. Both my sons learned a lot and were always excited to go to school. The facility is not only very clean, but beautiful, and everything is done thoughtfully and with the kids in mind. One of my sons had some dietary restrictions, and my ability to work with the kitchen staff was so helpful. They were always warm and welcoming, and more than ready to support my son with whatever he needed. Shout out to Salmeena for being an amazing Director--her warmth and kindness made dropping off the boys a joy. Shout out to Ms. Janelle who was one of my son's teachers, and was such a great influence for him - firm but always kind, and willing to engage with parents in service of the kids. I echo everyone's rave reviews of Petite School House. My son attended from 2.5-5 years old, when he entered kindergarten. Like other reviewers, he preferred multiple foods offered at Petite over my cooking (!) and many days at pickup asked if he could stay and play longer. The teachers made such warm environments for the children to thrive in. And office management are lovely became true friends. All of the activities, field trips, special class electives, even swim lessons -- everything provided here is with such care and love for the students. Petite School House was truly a godsend for our family. Both my kids went there, and I can honestly say it's the kind of place you wish they could stay in all the way through college! My oldest (now 8) attended from ages 3-5, and my youngest just finished at age 4 before we transitioned her to her brother's school, mainly for the convenience of one drop-off (any parent gets it!). If it weren't for that, she'd still be there in a heartbeat. The teachers are absolutely incredible, attentive, nurturing, and genuinely invested in every child. The care and love they show every day made it so easy to trust them completely. Not once did I ever worry about my kids while they were there. The food is fantastic too -- my daughter made sure to remind me daily that she only liked Petite's food, not mine! Back in 2021, when the world was still navigating the uncertainty of COVID, I found myself in a tough spot trying to find a pre-school for my 2.5-year-old son. As a first-time mom, I was nervous, and after visiting several schools, I wasn't confident in any of them. That is until I checked out Petite School House, based on a recommendation from an old friend. I am SO glad I did! The school itself was spotless, and in 2021, cleanliness was a huge priority for me. There was also plenty of space for the kids to play, and my son was immediately in awe of the playgrounds. But what truly set Petite School House apart was the director, Ms. Salmeena. From the very first phone call, her kind, nurturing voice instantly made me feel at ease. She was polite, calming, and genuinely seemed to care about answering all my questions. When I toured the facility, I was blown away by how well she knew every child by name. She could easily tell you each child's personality, their strengths, and even their family dynamics. At first, I wondered how she was able to do this, but over the three years my son attended, it became clear--Ms. Salmeena truly takes the time to get to know each child and their family. Her personalized approach made me feel incredibly confident that my son was in excellent hands. The other teachers at Petite School House were just as wonderful, always encouraging my son to come out of his shell, try new things, and grow in his own way. Finding the best preschool and early-education environment for our son felt daunting when I started looking after the pandemic. I started my search online and narrowed the list to 6 schools to visit in person. Petite School House was the last school I toured and it was an immediate "YES"! The classrooms were set up and decorated with care, the separate play yards were developmentally appropriate, and the staff was incredibly warm and welcoming. I appreciated that we were encouraged to bring our son for a classroom visit before he started attending to help him (and us) acclimate and feel comfortable. Our son attended Petite for 2 years, including 2 summer camps. He looked forward to attending school with kind teachers, fun learning opportunities, outdoor play, and class friends. He also loved the extra-curricular classes offered through outside companies. During his tenure, we happily signed our son up for gymnastics, science, hip-hop dance, soccer, and ninja/martial arts. It was wonderful to see him explore different interests while he was at school! I dropped our son off at Petite without any concerns or reservations. It was always very clear to me that he was going to be in a nurturing and inclusive place, where his health and safety were priorities, and the staff was committed to the enrichment of all the students. There are so many wonderful things I want to scream from the hills of California about petite school house, but I'll start here. My son started going here when he was 2 back in 2017, my daughter now attends. Without a doubt this is the best gem I came across driving down Roscoe. The teachers and staff are fantastic. Salmeena the school director is just a beautiful human inside and out. My kids are picky eaters so I send them with lunch but they have the best lunch options. The campus is safe and clean, the toys are regularly disinfected which I love! Summer camps are amazing here as well, with field trips and events weekly. I know so many families that have attended petite, my son is still friends with a lot of those students today. Seriously the best Pre-School in the area. The entire staff is so amazing. All teachers, the Director, office staff, everyone there makes a point to get to know your child regardless of what class your kid is in. I feel like I am dropping off my son with family there. I sent my daughter here years ago, she is 14 now and always talked about how much she loved it there. So when it was time to find a place for my son about a year ago - this was our top pick. We looked at other Pre-Schools closer to our house and agreed that Petite was the only place we felt safe and comfortable leaving our son all day knowing he will be learning and playing. My son's teachers and Salmeena the Director are so great about communicating with us. They offer fun extracurricular activities on site like Soccer and Ninja classes that my son just loves. It to mention one of the only Pre-Schools with an onsite kitchen and staff that serve healthy and according to my son 'so delicious' meals. They help with potty training which is a huge help. My kids attended this pre-school and it was the best experience! When my first son was ready to start pre-school at 2 years old, we toured about 10 different places around the valley and this was clearly the perfect fit for us. I liked that the school was small and the ratios were good. The teachers and staff are all so friendly and helpful. The healthy, well-balanced meals and snacks they offer included with tuition were a huge bonus as well! The arts and crafts the kids would bring home were so adorable, and were proudly displayed around the walls of our home. The events on campus (Halloween Parades, Mother's Day and Father's Day parties, Holiday Performances) made me tear up with pride every time! All of my kids flourished at this school and left knowing their letters, numbers, shapes, colors, etc. My kids have made long-lasting friendships with other kids from the school, and we've maintained close family friendships with their parents as well! The School Director, Mrs. Salmeena, plays a big part in the school's success. Not only is she available to help with whatever the parents need, she is often out in the yard interacting with the kids. My son started here as soon as he turned 2 years old and then took a break a couple weeks later as they closed down for a short while when Covid quarantine began. Once the school reopened, the school implemented a lot of strict rules to keep everyone safe. It's been over 6 months since he restarted and he has remained safe and healthy. Their sanitation procedures are top notch and I feel very comfortable sending him there. I researched and visited at least 15 other daycares/preschools in the area and once I visited Petite, I knew this school was the one I wanted. My son had never attended daycare before so he was not used to teachers and taking naps at schools, but after a week or so of crying everyday at dropoff, he started walking into the class on his own with a smile. Petite runs like a school so I am happy to know that even at just 2 years old he was learning the alphabet, doing all kinds of creative projects I/d never do if he was at home and, most importantly, learning how to behave well with other kids. They handled my son, who had a lot of behavioral problems, so well. They wrote me detailed daily notes every day until his behavior generally improved. They also helped so immensely with potty training--I cannot thank them enough for that! The educators at Petite was the top reason why I decided to send him here. They are always super engaging and very caring for kids who require a little more tender loving care. I do not have enough words to thank the teachers who are there for these kids everyday. My son always mentions his teachers, Miss Yasmin and Miss Glenda, and tells me he loves them. The director, Miss Salmeena, is the most kind and most approachable person I have met. She really handled herself well during the confusion when Covid started to close down businesses back in March. Aside from this, the other pros at Petite are the meals provided. They provide breakfast, lunch and a 3pm snack everyday for the kids and the menu is always appetizing! Out of all the schools I visited, they take the least days off for holidays, which is a godsend for working parents. Their hours are a teeny shorter now (7:30 - 5:30pm) than pre-Covid (6:30 - 6pm) but it is better than anything else out there and definitely beats regular school hours. Although there are a lot of things that are limited due to the pandemic, they still make sure the kids remain as unaffected as possible. They do fun holiday parties and keep parents informed of daily classroom activities. They also started to use an online program so that parents are informed of how much their kids ate, napped, etc. So helpful to know! I hope to keep my child enrolled in here as long as we can. As our time at Petite School House draws to an end, it seems only fitting to write this review. My daughter enrolled at 2 1/2 and has been there almost 2 years. She has had some amazing teachers that have helped her grow in many ways - Ms Maricela, Ms Jennifer, Ms Rosa and Ms Yessenia to name a few. Every staff member knows your kid by name and addresses them with a smile every day. The place is clean and all equipment in working order. They take illnesses very seriously and are very good about disinfecting play equipment and common areas. The administration staff is great and Ms Salmeena is so organized and communicates well with all parents. Safety was probably my biggest concern with choosing a daycare for my daughter and I always felt she was safe at Petite. You use a key fob to enter the campus, every staff member knows the kids and parents, you sign your kid in and out daily and there are security cameras. Another bonus are the extracurricular enrichment programs they offer. Overall we made the right choice sending our daughter here. read more

Our deep love for this school and how well they have and do take care of our two children is out of this world. We trust them, know that they are safe until 6pm, well feed, watched and respected brings such ease to our family. Mrs. Salmina (principle) is extremely easy to communicate with and creates an amazing program that not only teaches academics but encourages creativity and kindness. I love that they call everyone "friends" and works with families for what is right for each child. I highly recommend this school for children and feel strongly that they are prepared for kindergarten when they leave. My son has been attending Petite School House for the last 3 years. I can honestly say they have been the most amazing 3 years for him and us. Detailed breakdown by categories listed below. Open play areas: The school is a perfect size, the yard is clean and maintained daily. The sand pits are fun and the play sets are cleaned and well maintained. We loved the pool when kids had swim time prior to the pandemic. Classrooms: Are bright and airy, with restrooms adjacent for kids to use. Classrooms have age appropriate toys, books to read and circle time areas. Restrooms are kept very clean. The school has excellent teachers who are loving, attentive, respectful and great with the kids. Ms.Salmeena the school director is amazing, very loving caring and helpful. She is great with kids and has a great approach if any kids are having a tough time. They practice eye level contact in chatting with kids if there's been an event. The school owner and teachers have done a great job in selecting the right curriculum for all level of classes. They had French and Spanish being taught, music teacher was also part of the weekly schedule. Over and above they had some paid extra enrichment classes available like Science and Gymnastics available. Food: Ms.Maria has been making fresh meals for the kids everyday. The school has a great clean meal program. They don't allow kids to have unnecessary sugars which keeps them healthy and focused at school. Breakfast and snacks are also provided with heathy choices. This school is AMAZING! I did a lot of research and looking around before I found this gem ! I will speak for the toddler room. The teachers MS. E and Ms A were extremely caring, patient and always greater my child and everyone in the class and treated the children with love and lots of hugs ! Sometimes I would stay longer for drop offs and I never felt hostile and after a month my child was waving good bye and happy to be there! He would come home and sing the songs and tell me about his day. He always came home in a good mood and with clean clothes. The directors are amazing as well, always smiling and positive energy . The classrooms are clean and organized. We sadly moved out of the State and my two year old still talks about his teachers and classmates . How we miss the Picasso classroom. I am beyond grateful for having found this adorable school with the nicest staff and teachers! My 4 year old son is high-functioning autistic and while I had some fears that we would be turned away or that he would not follow a structured environment after being out of school for 9 months (due to COVID closures), my heart and mind are now completely at ease. Mrs. Salmeena (director) is THE sweetest woman you will ever meet and she genuinely loves kids - you can feel it and see it in her interactions. My son's teachers, Mrs. Victoria and Ms. Mayra are absolutely incredible with my son and all the other kids in class. They are patient, accepting, encouraging and communicate with me about his progress in meaningful ways. They understand his strengths and weaknesses and are patient and loving. The center itself adheres to the Reggio Emilia approach, which I love because it puts the child first. I couldn't imagine my 4 year old in a small desk and chair form6 hours a day like other preschools! While I cannot speak to the school's ability to offer care to any child on the spectrum, as it is not equipped with behavioral or language therapy modals, I will say that my child has been thriving here so far. The IEP my son had only offered him a program for 4 hours a day, but this doesn't work for me, as I'm working 9 hours a day... I can't imagine a better school than PETITE SCHOOL HOUSE. My son is 3 1/2 and has been there for over a year . My daughter just started in the Picasso class when she turned 2 in September. The teachers are on top of everything and they know the kids so well. Ms Salmeena the director of the School is the kindest and most caring preschool director you will ever meet. She is on top of everything , so busy but she stills takes the time to talk and listen to each kid stoping by her door to say buy, ask a question or get a good job sticker. The school have Spanish and French classes as of 3 year old which is amazing as well. At my son's last school, he suffered from a multitude of injuries in a very short amount of time due to negligent teachers (A review for another time). He's been at the Petite School House since January and hasn't had a SINGLE INCIDENT REPORT. No unexplained falls, cuts, bruises, or going home hungry (again, a review for another time). One of the very first things I noticed is HOW the teachers monitor the yard. They stand usually on opposite ends, ensuring maximum coverage for the kids. They interact with them; while still maintaining an eye on the others. I was so impressed with this. He's in the Picasso room and Miss Krista is everything you would ever hope for in a preschool teacher. I have seen this woman singlehandedly comfort 3 crying children-successfully- at one time. She's loving, attentive, and knows each of the children's individual likes/dislikes/quirks. The new addition to the Picasso room, Mrs Andrea, is also fantastic. When I pick my son up, she always makes a point of telling me what kind of day he had WITHOUT ME ASKING; including little specific tidbits about something he did or enjoyed. If they have a concern with anything they see in him (most recently it was his lack of eating the school food) they bring it up immediately and discuss a course of action. And speaking of food, because they know how children are, if a child doesn't want what is offered that day (because, well, they're children-what they liked last week may be 1000 times different 2 days later) they have other options-extra fruit or veggies or snack. Miss Martiza and Miss Salmeena are kind, professional, quick to respond to any concerns (and properly address them), and seem to actively interact with staff and parents in a respectful, professional way. If this school was south of the boulevard it would probably be double the price. I am BEYOND happy I moved my son here and can't recommend this place enough. read more

My family feels so so lucky to have found Petite, it is absolutely amazing. It's sort of the Goldilocks of private daycare/preschool; perfect size, pretty academic while also tons of fun, options for structured learning but a ton of flexibility and individual attention for kiddos who need that. Our son has been at their 2-year old class and now their preschool class, and we are planning to send our baby daughter there when it's time :) The school director, teachers, and staff are very professional, caring, and communicative. They are so great with telling us about any challenges, and working together with us to support our son. My daughter has been coming to Petite School House for almost a year and started after turning 3 years old. I wanted to wait on a review until she had been there for enough time. She started off as a shy, quiet little girl and now she is much more social, has friends, and knows the names of all the kids in her class. She was originally very attached to Ms. Lucy and didn't socialize much with other kids but she slowly broke out of her shell. She also loves Ms. Eva and Ms. Tatti. At home, she always wants to play "school" and has my wife act as Ms. Eva or Ms. Tatti. Salmeena, the Assistant Director, is super sweet and friendly. It's no wonder why all the kids love her. The Director, Maritza, is also helpful with any requests. They seem to know all the kids by name which is really great. The playground is always clean. Every morning when I drop off my daughter, there is someone making sure it's clean. We love that they make food in house. My daughter is a picky eater, but I think seeing other kids eat has helped her. Now she asks for green pasta and bean burritos like the school food at home. She's also gotten better with her writing and tracing. And she colors within the lines now! She's learned the days of the week, months of the year and many more things. Her vocabulary is growing and growing. We love that they have Spanish and French classes. In fact, we'd probably want more of them! Right now my daughter comes home and says, "Do you know how to say XXX en español?" and she's singing a song in french for the Holiday Show. Our story with Petit goes back 4 years. My son started in their daycare program at the age of 2. He's now 6, and about to finish kindergarten. That speaks volumes in itself. Every teacher he has had has been kind, gentle yet firm, good at communicating and my son has adored all of them. It's clean, secure (fob system & security cameras in each classroom) and literally everything I could of asked for in a school. I wish they had grade 1 & up!! Ms. Salmeena... you're the best. Whoa! Finally a school in LA that delivers everything a parent is looking for. Great, clean, and a big updated facility. Wonderful staff, homemade food made in house, and an amazing curriculum. My two children attend this school and I cant say enough great things about the school. 5 stars from this mommy. read more
