Both of my kids attended Narek Cultural Foundation, and I truly can't say enough wonderful things about this daycare. My son is graduating next week, and it's bittersweet to leave a place that has become like family to us. Every teacher my children had throughout the years was loving, caring, patient, and genuinely invested in their growth. They are hardworking, kind, respectful women who helped shape my children's character and became a part of our family's journey. My kids absolutely adore all of their teachers. What I appreciate most is that Narek doesn't just teach academics--they instill Armenian language, culture, family values, kindness, respect, and love. One of the things that truly sets Narek apart is everything they do beyond the classroom. The extracurricular activities, holiday celebrations and special events they organize throughout the year have created some of our family's most cherished memories. Their year-end graduation recital is absolutely incredible and reflects the immense amount of work, dedication, creativity, and love that goes into everything they do. It's something you have to see to truly appreciate. As for some of the negative reviews, no school can please everyone. My daughter also attends the Saturday Armenian school. Yes, there is weekly homework, but if it's done a little each day, it's very manageable. And yes, the school is structured and disciplined--but that's exactly what allows them to accomplish so much in just three hours each week. When my daughter started her school she was two years old is Miss. Liannas class. She was soooo happy to go to school everyday not once did she cry when dropping her off. We were very happy when she was in Liannas class you could tell she loved our daughter and our daughter loved her. She was wonderful at sending videos of our daughter playing, dancing and singing. She would inform us if our daughter had eaten, napped or whatever the case may have been. Then, after 6 months, without letting us (the parents) know, they switched her over to the class next door. When asked why? They said that she is in a different age group now, shes is in the older class. We thought it was weird but didnt think to much of it. The classroom they switched her to the teachers were extremely cold, didnt acknowledge the parent when we were dropping her off and over all just not pleasant. This automatically threw me off. My child was still very happy so we didnt think too much of it, as long as she was happy. In no way shape or form was she like her previous teacher; she never texted pics of our daughter, she never informed us if our daughter ate or slept, NOTHING. When we would ask during pick up of she slept or ate or if she had a good day today, her response in Armenian was... "yah, why?" As if i was asking something sooooo strange or foreign. When we first toured the school, we toured with the "director" who had been there for 30 years. Which was a lie because i went to school in that same building when it was called a completely different school. However, she was still very nice to us before signing my child up. As soon as we signed up, she became pretty rude. Wouldnt acknowledge our child at drop off if she saw her, DEFINITELY wouldnt even look in the direction of the parents either. When dropping the tuition off, i would knock on her door while it was open, she wouldnt even bother to turn around until the second knock or me saying something. I would hand her the tuition, no thank you no nothing. Not a word. She would turn right back around and do what she was doing. Very rude and dismissive lady. After a while, my wife and I really had enough of it all and took our child elsewhere. The parking to drop off the children is horrible. ( although that is not the fault of any staff member) the parking is a roundabout so you are suppose to drop off your child, then leave right away. These inconsiderate parents would park at the edge of the driveway, then have full blown conversations with other parents as if there are no cars waiting. It was a nightmare experience. I wouldnt recommend this "school" The only positive thing about that school was Miss Lianna and Miss Naira. They were so so wonderful. Other than that, nothing. read more

This is horrible school. My child was going Armenian Language classes at Narek. All they do giving homework.Teachers were very rude and fake. Director only care about her monthly money. She was in front of children arguing that I didn't pay the tuition, when she find out that I pay it she was trying to say that was her teacher's mistake. I pull my child out when she was 7 th grade. Teacher was making my child to call and ask for the rent. I asked them so many times not to do that, but they keep doing it. I don't want to even give them one star. read more

I graduated Narek Armenian School three years ago. Being born and raised in America has made it a bit tough on our parents. I'm glad to say that I'm very thankful my parents made the choice of signing me up at this Armenian School. Not only did I learn to read, write etc. but I was also able to connect with new friends. Throughout the eight years, I made numerous memories which I will always cherish. I'm grateful for all my teachers who pushed me to the best of my limits. (Special thanks to Tikin Barseghyan and Tikin Avagyan) I'm proud that even though I was born and raised in America I know so much about my culture and its history. I'm a current graduate of Narek Cultural Foundation. I started when in 2nd grade and attended for around 8 years. I had an amazing experience and loved the overall community. Narek helped me connect with my Armenian peers and enriched my life by teaching me more about my culture and history. Narek is where I first learned how to read and write Armenian, skills I eventually used to acquire my bilingual certificate for Armenian. The teachers are all incredibly smart, patient, and nice, and will do anything they can to help you advance. Shoutout to Tikin Avagyan and Tikin Barseghyan for being some of the best teachers I've ever had. Growing up, my parents wanted me to speak fluent Armenian, and learn how to read & write in Armenian as well. They eventually found this school and enrolled me. Know that this was YEARS ago, and I honestly don't know if anything's improved, but I highly doubt it. First off, it's a Saturday only school. There are a few problems with this school and their teaching ways. Problems with school: small campus - there were a lot of student when I went to school here, and it was always crowded. Parking/dropping kids off/picking kids up problems - there was, almost every Saturday, a fight with the parents due to picking up and dropping off their children. It get very crowded and the parents get very angry and the fact that the staff isn't doing a good job of handling the situation right, believe me, i'm a witness lmao. Now onto the teacher problems. The teachers there had a horrible habit of yelling at the student when we wouldn't fully understand something or be able to write a sentence or word or even a letter in fact without help. They would think after explaining or showing someone only ONCE, we would be able to fully pick up on it. The teachers also had a horrible way of introducing us to new material, we wouldn't have any education at all about something, and they would get mad at us for not being able to properly work well with it when they first introduce it to us. Their constant yelling and frustration with the children did nothing but push us away from wanting to learn. Keep in mind, my first year at this school was about 10-11 years ago, and I stayed there for a good 3 years until I explained to my parents by detail what was wrong about this school. They might have changed some things up, i honestly don't know, but here's just a little review of what was happening when I went to school there. read more

So i personally went to this terrible place when i was in the third grade (i'm now a college freshman) but oh lord i came across this yelp page so let me write a review. saying that i HATED this place is an understatement. keep in mind i was a really obedient, quiet and hard worker as a child and i was actually excited to go to this school as my cousin was actually going there as well. but my teacher was just horrible. She was cold and rude all the time. i'm not talking strict, i'm talking downright psychotic. i remember one time we were correcting a test and she said "for every answer you get wrong call yourself a stupid idiot 3 times" and that was my first year so i was getting a lot wrong. so much so that i couldn't even keep up with saying the phrase and i started sobbing. to which she proceeded to get mad at me in front of the class. i don't remember much else (i probably blocked it out of my memory) but i remember we had a snack time and they'd give us free snack which was my only food source while i was there. but one day they started randomly charging for the food and didn't give me anything(i didn't have money on me as 3rd grader lmao). i made myself throw up on multiple ocassions so i could go home. surprised i don't have bulimia tbh. read more

They make everyday of my kid special by taking really good care of his and always sending pictures to my cell of different activities. In addition, they constantly organize different events, really amazing entertainment program for kids. They also make educational science projects and many educational activities. I signed up my daughter in fall 2016. I was really excited. She is trilingual: French, Russian and English. She is a quarter Armenian. We came one first day of school and it was hell. Even though we registered in summer we were lost on welcome day because the school lost the check I wrote for $100. It would not be theist time. That speaks to ancient processes. Parents gathered outside in an area which did not have enough visibility nor hearing. Soviet style 5 hour class by class welcome without any organization or clarity. Hot under the sun, sweating non stop, kids and parents stood what felt like forever. Note that's the welcome and then the kids have a 3 hour class, imagine how 6 year olds feel after. What I did not mention was the parking hell or cars parked all over. You would have thought the school sends an email with how and what before to recommend parking around or elsewhere. So after standing in a hot mess, we were directed to a class with 5 year olds. For another hour poor kids sat with sour faces listening to another Soviet style lecture for the parents. Then finally parents left. Kids stayed. Not at one moment was the administration or the teachers thinking of kids experience. Some kids were bored to death, some cried and clang to parents. There were no games, no fun to soften up the new environment. I decided to hang out outside this time around, half an hour later my daughter was moved to another class. Remember they lost her paper work. I watched more kids zig zag around as some others moved classes which left me super puzzled at how much the school was ready for the year. We spent 2 month going to Narek. Payments are accepted in envelops passed through kids, not very secure. The school looses these. Communication with teachers is manual, no email. All the updates are published in Armenian so English speakers and others are not welcomed. I have verbal but not written Armenian from the little I picked up growing up but it was very clear the school is not international. It's only for already speaking Armenian families and kids. My daughter was scared in class and she is not scared of anything. Her teacher called her by last name and she was so discomforted by the dictatorial atmosphere she never bothered to correct her. Every weekend after class I would ask her what they did and what they learned. There were never any games, she never played or learned the names of the students, the was 0 progress. The teacher only spoke in Armenian even though she New she had no Armenian and could speak Russian to her. The teacher made zero effort to engage and make it fun. The teacher stood by the desk like a robot read and wrote letters. Is that really how you teach kids who come on Saturday for 3 hours after going all week to the school? I was so excited to have found a school outside of church and religion but this depressive and oppressive style of academics was not how language learning should be in 2016. When a friend of mine told em rumors about kindergarten problems that circulated in the Narek community I plugged my daughter out of there. read more
