I still think that they should do a better job of advertising that they treat a wide range of conditions at this facility, not just cancer. I usually go to the Parham Rd location, but the past couple of appointments have been at this location with a nurse practitioner. I gotta say, I like this location so much more! It's more modern, not as stuffy (the other one is so hot!), and the staff seems more friendly. I'm usually in and out in a decent amount of time and I LOVE that they give me the option to do a finger prick instead of a vein draw for my blood tests. As someone who has so. much. anxiety about giving blood, having to do it so often has really been a personal test. Only having to get a finger prick makes the entire experience much easier on my spirit. If it's not too late, I might just switch to this location as my main one for the remainder of the pregnancy.

Well, besides their requirement that you have to have cancer, this is a great place to go. I have…read moreonly had cancer once but the service is absolutely outstanding. The staff is either a team of angels or were trained by Chick Fil A. They are kind to every single person...even the ones who are surely a pain. My personal treatments were not bad, so to me it is like visiting a spa. They will bring you a warm blanket that feels like heaven and will bring snacks and treats per your request. I feel very spoiled here. The staff is meticulous about the medical details and genuinely seem to care about every single person. Some people can be jerks but they handle them with caring words and kindness. My nurses were Jean and Jenn and I would highly recommend them though everyone here is excellent at this. They are very special people and they will forever be remembered. Dr. Vanlandingham is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful with her advice. While I hope you never need to go to VCI, I hope you will remember it for you or someone you know ever is faced with a C diagnosis.

Start this with I'm alive and their medicine is why. That being said on the day of my…read morereconstruction after I had healed from DMX . I went I. For surgery I had a port but that could not be used for the surgery. I had two working veins left and explained that to the nurse. Unbeknownst to me she brought in a student to put in my sedation line with other medicine in my arm. Well the long and short the student went in and out the other side of my vein and was pumping medication into my arm and basically blew out the vein so that it can no longer be used two years later. But had I known it was a student she wouldn't have been doing it anyway because I only had two veins and I was not your typical patient. So I should have been informed before that happened. But then once they did get it in a different vein the surgeon came in to tell me that they did not have the right size implants for both of my boobs and that I would either have to choose to except that they would not be the same size and he could do the surgery or we would have to stop by where you were at and I would have to wait for another surgeon do you the surgery because he was leaving and going to another university. This was a quality check and should have been done prior to my surgery and they should have known this prior to me even being brought into the hospital for Surgery and there was NO excuse for this lack of quality control. None of this came up prior to this point because I was desperate to get the implants at this point and because I had done much research on the surgeon to have it done because he was a special micro surgeon which is not your typical surgeon I agreed to go ahead and do this without the right size. Because otherwise I would have to wait six months to a year to have my reconstruction. So basically after going through cancer treatment radiation and a trial that granite did save my life and I give kudos for that. I was left with being embarrassed to have my top off or being see in a Tee Shirt because the boobs were so uneven and now I have to wait to have that changed and have to go through another surgery . While again having to research another person that could do the surgery. The Surgeon that did the surgery left me with a good healing result but really none of this should have occurred. You can say this it was my fault for agreeing to the surgery initially but if you consider that I had just been through radiation , chemotherapy , a trial drug and all sorts of crazy reactions to medication . I was hooked up to an IV and in the bay getting ready for the actual surgery with my entire family waiting when I was asked without knowing all of this was coming .I made a quick decision which I shouldn't have had to make. Now that being considered the doctors I had were TERRIFIC most of the nurses were TERRIFIC but as you can tell my experience was not stellar and definitely not what I expected at all from a medical institute that is so respected. The hospital was more into what was convenient for them with little consideration given to what was convenient for the patient. You can imagine so I was a little disappointed and angry . That all said without this medical institute I would not have had the opportunity for the trial drug that saved me so all things considered I have to say I came out on the positive. I would like to see their committees on patient advocation WORK towards being more considerate of the patient and what they're going through because clearly they have a great Deficit in that area. Just remember nothing is perfect . I am giving the three stars as it is medicine after all .
