Broccoli cheese soup - A disposable plastic container contains broccoli cheese soup, which has a yellow color with small green broccoli pieces visible throughout. A metal spoon is partially submerged in the soup, resting inside the container. The container is placed on a wooden table, with a bowl of what appears to be dumplings or similar food in the background. The setting suggests a casual dining environment.

This place does a bang up job! The staff are very attentive and caring. It's not huge inside, so might have a wait for seating. The broasted chicken was very tasty, it was nice that we were able to buy just a piece. I was able to get a cut of prime rib, just perfect for me. It was so tasty, and it comes with salad bar, potato, dessert and roll. Very very good. Side note, get there early, as they sell out pretty quickly. The Mac n Cheese was my least favorite item, it was blah, not much taste. The broccoli cheese soup was okay, but it tasted very much like frozen, not homemade, but I did not very source. The Carolina fries are tasty! It was a good helping, plenty for a few people. The wings were very good, smoked as well. Parking is tricky due to area downtown. The prices are a tad higher but you get big portions and the food is very good. Definitely will be back!

This was my very first time to experience Kula's. I have been wanting to check this place out for awhile now! I heard that the prime rib specials and the barbecue Saturdays were the days to make it out to Kula's, but I came out on a Thursday night to have dinner with a wonderful friend! Let me tell you, the food at Kula's was incredible! We started out with naked smoked chicken wings! Naked is the way to go! Then, get sauces to try out on the side. I think these smoked chicken wings can easily be eaten without any sauce, but trying out different sauces can be quite fun! Heck! These wings are so good that next time, I'm ordering smoked chicken wings as my entree and as for my side, broasted potatoes is the way to go! And don't forget the side of sour cream & chives to dip them in!! I must also give their pork tenderloin sandwich some kudos as well. If you are expecting a flat, pounded out, crispy breaded pork tenderloin, you might be disappointed. This pork tenderloin was thick and juicy, probably breaded in a seasoned egg and flour mixture. It wasn't what I was expecting, but it sure was delicious! I loved it! My friend ordered the broasted chicken for her entree and she couldn't stop raving about how great the broasted chicken tasted! She ate every last bite! And by the way she was licking her fingers, I will have to order broasted chicken to go next time! Tonight I was stuffed! I felt like a Thanksgiving Turkey on the table Thanksgiving day! I give out lots of props to the owners and cooks behind the scene for their generous and tasty efforts! Kyla's is more than just tasty bar food! It is an amazing, incredible family-type steakhouse pizza style restaurant that everyone should take their family out to eat to I at least once a week!!! It's that good! If you haven't gotten in your car yet, what's the hold up? And if you need a friend to take out to eat with, I'm available!!

We just started a 16-piece chicken dinner - Fried chicken pieces are arranged on a black tray lined with black-and-white checkered paper, placed on a wooden table. The table also has a dark-colored drink with a straw, a pink squeeze bottle, salt and pepper shakers, and other food items in the background, indicating a casual dining setting.

Wow! They can do ribs and broasted chicken. Coming from the birthplace of Col. Sanders, we know exceptional chicken. The Kula's can do it. The service is exceptional, waitstaff superior, and will spend the time to make you feel at home. The crowd is mixed from locals to people driving from Waterloo and Cedar Rapids for dinner. The portions are generous and leftovers better yet. The best thing is that you won't break the bank.

Smoked wings!!!!! Best smoked wings I've had in a while. I love how they are thriving and reusing the old bowling alley to make their Downtown great! Very casual joint. Now they close the kitchen early then we expected so make sure to call and make sure. The owners came over and said hi. We were the last ones there so we invited our waitress to sit down and chat to. This is what small towns are great for we will return

Very unique dining establishment set in the rolling farmland of Jones County, Iowa…read more An old barn building has been transformed into a very trendy dining spot, with three levels. It is a rustic setting, but don't think the décor of Cracker Barrel, it is much nicer than that. Try the upper level outdoor deck for a ideal view of the Iowa agricultural heaven. The menu is varied, with something for everyone. Our party had four different entrees, with remarks like 'very good' and 'ok'. French Onion soup was pretty good for starters, made with swiss cheese, my preference is mozzarella, but still tasty. We shared the Pig Sty dessert, which was large enough for 4 to share. Specials on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday afternoons. Our server, Jordan, was excellent. Attentive, but not overbearing at all, willing to explain the menu, and give some info on the barn itself. He also answered our question about the upstairs, reservable, Lover's nook, which is quite unique. He also asked how our food was at the end of the meal, and...he actually asked what they could do to make a dish better. That is a plus. Will most likely return to try some of the other dishes, being as it is a very nice pastural drive. If the food can consistently match the atmosphere I could bump up the rating without question.

Full bar, big pours of wine and local beers. Relaxing atmosphere could see it getting loud during the busy times. We didn't save room for dessert but was highly recommended. Gluten free options on the menu even though we didn't need them. Small pond out back.

I really wanted to love this place but it was a big let down…read more First, we were there on a Friday, just before what is likely a very busy time. We sat at the bar. The servers were there, obviously waiting for customers to start arriving, and they were all congregating at the end of the bar, chatting it up. It was super unprofessional and pretty annoying. We were glad when the food came out quickly so we could just eat and leave. To be honest, I don't recall what my husband ordered. I got the pork tenderloin. The tenderloin was very tough and had zero flavor. Like, I don't think they even put salt in the coating, let alone any other seasonings. This is Iowa, if you can't make anything else at all, you should at least have a decent pork tenderloin. This was our second time trying the place. Both instances were equally underwhelming. I wanted this to be our "go to" place but sadly we won't return.

I went to the bathroom and heard the dish boy/cook using foul language stating he wasn't going to accommodate the request. He was super rude and sarcastically clapping at the game to make a point. We planned to all have dinner but left to a more accommodating restaurant. Any restaurant in town would be more accommodating and respectful than this place. We'll never return or spend a dime here again.
