Ordered Lunch Special #5, chose burger and tomato salad. Burger is a BURGER, meaty, cheesy, garlic aioli all over the place, delicious. The tomato salad is even better than burger, pieces of tomato, cucumber, red and green bell pepper all coated with balsamic vinegarette was cool, fresh, and delicious. Ordered cheese slice to go, solid Detroit slice, tangy red sauce, thick fluffy dough, crispy caramelized cheesy corners. Large selection of 30 beers. The food was stellar as always. The service was great. What was not great was the fries came out and about 5 minutes later the wings came out (my order) and 10 minutes after that the pizza came out (my boyfriends order). He had to watch me eat (or I let me food get cold) and then I had to watch him eat. Always better to have all the food come out at the same time. Just not a great experience with the food timing but I stil love this place

The…read morespace is super cool, kind of a retro lounge feel with a split setup where you can either sit down to eat or hang out and play games. Easy spot to spend more time than you planned, especially with the older games like Tony Hawk Pro Skater and Mario Kart. The workers and or owners were super laid back and super helpful. We ran through a few burgers and they all delivered. Good smash style, crispy edges, solid flavor. Nothing felt basic, each one had something a little different going on. The Oyama was also my favorite just because of the texture, had a nice crunch that made it stand out. The real surprise for me was the wings. Came during happy hour and the $1 wings are honestly one of the best deals I've seen. They came out hot, super plump, and actually had flavor not just sauce. That alone makes it worth coming back. Overall great vibe, good food, and solid value. I'd definitely run it back, especially for the wings!!

You order at the window and then they bring the food out to you. They also have water available that you can refill yourself. There is a room where you can play video games while waiting or when you're done. They also have books and physical media (movies and music). There are some merchandise for sale as well. We ordered yuzu lemon pepper wings, horchata bites, oyama burger, and diego burger. Fair prices and good size portions. They have restrooms in the back. Overall, this is about a 4 to me. It's worth checking out if you're in the area. -yuzu lemon pepper wings 5 - these were very tasty, no complaints. The lemon was not overpowering at all. I also liked that the wings were very meaty. -horchata bites 3.5 - they were not bad. Since they were called horchata bites, I wanted more of that horchata flavor to hit my taste buds. -oyama burger 5 - I only had a bite of this since my girlfriend ordered this. I actually prefer this over the diego burger. -diego burger 3.5 - this one was okay. I had plenty of sauce on mine, but I felt like the burger was overshadowed by the arugula. The burger should be the star of the show but I had too much arugula. It masked the flavor of the burger.

We ordered: -ham and cheese pimento breakfast sandwich -fried green tomato and bacon breakfast sandwich -beignets The biscuits were perfectly fluffy. They didn't fall apart either. I liked both sandwiches. I preferred the fried green tomato one because of the texture. But I was also happy to have the pimento cheese. It's very rare to see pimento cheese anything in San Diego. The beignets were nice too. Could have been slightly more fluffy, but I think that's just how they are when they are smaller in size. I'm definitely bookmarking this place the next time I have a craving for a breakfast sandwich!

How I found it to review was through they key words "southern" and "righteous," and not so much "rise." Apart from the food, this place - Rise Southern Biscuits and Righteous Chicken - is sort of weird. Like anywhere else anymore, very little human interaction occurs. You order at a kiosk and then the food is prepared for you, and then your name is called. There is this one section of a wall that is apparently for people who might have placed their order and will come in to pick it up - it has these square windows that look like bank safe deposit boxes that you unlock to get your items. (A relative from the tri-state NYC area once sent me a photo of these sorts of things in Manhattan diners in Midtown where you'd open up these windows to pull out a slice of pie.) Inside, the place is a bright orange. While chicken on biscuits is available, we ordered chicken on regular buns. My friend ordered a chicken sandwich on a bun with a patty that was fried and/or in a batter. I ordered a chicken sandwich on a bun that was grilled. Eating fried chicken or many Southern preparations of it isn't something I routinely do, nor would I want to. My sandwich tasted fine. I don't remember much about it, which is more good than bad. Prices are about right for this sort of set up and for it being San Diego. What little interaction I had with personnel was perfunctory. The metallic orange interior with funky cartoonish graphics is not conducive to hanging out, so eat and go. Rise Southern Biscuits and Righteous Chicken is just south of (the) (I) 8 and you pass right next to the SDSU campus as you head slightly south into Rolando (never knew the neighborhood would have a name like that, leading me to ask who this Roland(o) might have been). However, it is far enough south of the university that, in car-centric SoCal, a rare university student might walk that mile to come here. Since it's in a strip mall, there is parking out front.

Stopped in last night to celebrate my husband's birthday. Although Del's doesn't take reservations, we were able to snag a few tables right next to the kids play area. It was perfect since we had so many kids in our party. All the food was delicious -- from their baked beans, corn bread, onion rings, and to their barbecue selection. We ordered the 12 party meal plus some appetizers for the kids such as the Mac & cheese and chicken tenders. Everyone was commenting on how good everything was. Honestly, this has become one of our favorite barbecue spots! Their bbq sauce is also really good, it had the right amount of sweetness and slight tang without being too thick. Would definitely recommend to anyone who just wants to watch the game by themselves or bring a large party. Thank you Del's for making it a memorable night!

The gentleman who made our burgers asked us if we enjoyed our meal before we left. He also mentioned that they make homemade pozole and menudo for breakfast on the weekends.
