Came her with 3 gf's after working out. We were just looking for a light snack, a drink and a place to chat. Kuhnhenn provided the perfect location for all 3. Out waitress could not have been more helpful as 2 of us were super indecisive on what beer we wanted. She gave us mini samples of several to help us narrow it down and we all ended up with something we liked. Then I ordered a personal pizza and they decided to split the giant pretzel. My pizza was cooked perfectly and was just the right size. The pretzel was giant! We all got a laugh at how big it really was. They really enjoyed it and said it was delish. Recently had the Barrel Aged 4th D 2022, categorized as an Old Ale I found this particular ale refreshing from the more common beer and ale types that I come across. The ale has a punch of 13% ABV if I remember correctly and sometimes nothing beats sitting down to a good, stiff alcoholic beverage and this ale more than qualifies for that. Flavor highlights for this absolutely wonderful ale is toffee, caramel and plums which kind of result in a jam like quality in a delightfully complex flavor profile. I could easily have this ale again, that much is for certain but preferably to share with somebody as I did with the bottle I had due to that ABV. read more

First, let me start off by saying I've been getting kegs for my home bar from Kuhnhenn's for several years now, and the staff have always been friendly and accommodating and the brews are always consistently high in quality. I had an old keg that had been sitting in my garage for a couple years, and they cleaned it for me, no charge. I'm a craft brew aficionado and a loyal customer. But, I just need to vent. I stopped by today to switch out a keg and nearly everything on the board (and the list was extensive) was either super high ABV (8% and up) or a session ale (3-4%) . My point is, simply having 22 beers on tap doesn't mean you have a well rounded selection. Second, I noticed a "Lucky Charms" flavored beer on tap. Really?! I think I saw a "Fruit Loops" beer as well. O.k. I understand brewers get bored, but they didn't have a standard pale ale, they didn't have an ESB on tap. Did a customer request that they make a Lucky Charms beer?! Does the world need a Jalapeno Mango Basil IPA? NO! Could you please just make good, solid English style ales and German lagers? This is such a great bar to go to when you want to go out, relax, and drink a beer with a friend. The vibe is very mellow and relaxing. Most people sit at the bar area, and I got to meet a lot of cool people. Kevin served us and he was on top of his game. He was taking time talking to each person, while running around and serving everyone. I was impressed with how fast he was, especially because he was doing it himself. It wasnt extremely busy, but the bar had a good amount of people. I found out from someone there that you can bring food in if youd like and that sometimes there are food trucks during nicer weather. Came here to try it out on a random Saturday with a friend. It sort of looked like a beer supply store or something with barrels and items outside. Inside still a bit cluttered and it was seat yourself. We sat at bar and there were a few seated and a few people at the bar. A game was on and it was pretty low key while people drank their beer. The beer was good. Staff was friendly and he would get a bit busy since it appeared it was just him. Had a flight. They have a lot of different styles. One thing - it just wasn't all that clean. If it had been, definitely would have been higher score wise. I don't live close by and probably won't endeavor to return because of the clutter and being dirty. read more

Like 3.5/5 but I will round up to 4 stars. I had never been to this Kuhnhenn location before, so I was a bit disappointed in the (lack of) food choices. We primarily came here today for the pierogies pop-up, but I was hoping to get some coconut chicken tenders and/or duck fat fries too, like the other location had. Like I mentioned, the food menu is pretty limited - we got one of the stadium-sized jumbo pretzels ($12), which was pretty good. My boyfriend got a 10-oz. pour of the DRIPA, one of their more popular beers. At the other Kuhnhenn location, I did a mead and wine flight once, so I asked if I could do that at this location ... our waiter said they don't normally do wine flights but he could make an exception and do half-pours. I tried the Peach Apricot Chardonnay, the Blueberry Pinot Noir, the Wild Berry Shiraz, and the Pomegranate Zinfandel, all of them were really good, although my favorite was the Chardonnay and my least favorite was the Zinfandel, which was kind of like a sparkling wine. It was only about $10 for four pours, too, which was a decent deal. From the pierogies pop-up, we got an order of the chef's choice (four of her choosing) as well as a kielbasa, and both were delicious. I'd go into more detail on these except Kuhnhenn doesn't normally have pierogies ... the pierogies were from Pietrzyk Pierogi, though. I would come back here again but probably just for a drink, as the food menu is so small - the other Kuhnhenn location is much better in that regard, and also has a larger mead list (this location only had one mead choice, which I did not try). A Friday afternoon after work seemed to be a good time to check out Kuhnhenn Brewery, one of Yelp's Cashback businesses. Good parking, very friendly, typical noise. Very glad to see that they offer custom flights, so I ordered a selection. They were out of a couple of offering, but it wasn't anything world-shaking. Found out that they were celebrating Oktoberfest that Friday and following Saturday, I'm glad to have gotten in when it wasn't very crowded. The flights hit the spot! Brought a friend since he's never been and never had a DRIPA (Double Rice IPA). We were enjoying our beers and were perusing the beer menu when I noticed that Pietryzyk Pierogi was going to be at Kuhnhenn's shortly. I've been dying to try their food. The bartender said they were just arriving to set up so we started deciding which beer would be next. They have a very wide variety so it's a tough choice. I went with a Loonie Kuhnie since I'm partial to pales ales. Not as strong as my first but a nice hoppy ale with a citrusy finish. My friend tried the Blueberry DRIPA. It really takes the fruit well. Time for Pierogi. Got a sampler of 4. All were very creative and non traditional. One made with Kuhnhenn's White Devil. All are excellent The fried bologna was just OK and the Cucumber in sour cream with dill is very good. Great beer and the rotating food trucks and pop ups make this a real winner. read more

Let me start by saying that I love this brewery. Great spirits. They try to have events with food but fail miserably. I have to go get paper towel from the bath room and wipe the tables. When they have an event, you are expected to wait in line at the bar and order beer and food. It's quicker to DoorDash. We try to support the events but it's rough. But if you want great beer, they are bar none the best in the area. Got the waitress to come and take our order once we got a table after 1.5 hours. Got here shortly after 5 and it 7:15. Really hungry and getting a buzz. No matter what the event or night of the week, service is lacking. I really feel bad for the waitstaff as you can see people in the back hanging out with friends. Clearly must be ownership and management. The stress shows on their faces out on the floor. Thinking or ordering food from DoorDash as I wait impatiently. Trying to keep support for the local business. Wait , a table that ordered 25 minutes before us just got their food. I see the light...nope it's gone. The house brew Dripa is really good. Nice and light with amazing kick back flavors. The Blueberry Dripa is what caught my attention for my second glass. Boy! It's something special.. You will like this! It's a must try! The blueberry comes right out leaving you wanting another glass. It's one of my new favorites. They offer their customers free popcorn while enjoying one of their fresh brew products. There's multiple seasonings and hot sauce to add on to your popcorn. They do not have a kitchen. However, this place offers specialty food trucks and vendors at certain times during business hours of the week. While during my visit the had pirogies available from a small food vendor. These were amazing!! Me and my boss had the pick four. Which the chief picks them randomly from the selection of offered pirogies on the menu. We had one or two of each types. They were very delicious and full of amazing flavors. We had the side items of fried bologna and cucumbers with onions. These were also amazing. One favorite item I liked from the vendor. This review is for the original Kuhnhenn on Chicago Road at Mound. I remember all the way back when this was a hardware store that sold brewing supplies and an auto repair shop. I'm glad that they have been able to expand and serve some of the best beer and wine in Macomb County. Just so you know they have a limited menu of pizza, pretzels and popcorn. But they are served by food trucks and pop-ups which are very good. Last night we had pierogies. They were delicious, I can't wait to go back and have a go with them again. I've been a fan of Kuhnhenn brewing for a long time. I recently visited the Warren location with a group of folks from work. The service was great and they accommodated a group of up to 10 people. Considering the recent conditions during the pandemic, I was pleased that this number of people in my group was acceptable. The brewery was very clean and the staff wore masks at all times. The beer was as good as always. It felt good to enjoy a few brews with some friends. We also felt as though Kuhnhenn provided a safe atmosphere to do so. We enjoyed Brian's company. He was great with recommendations on pizza, micro breweries and meaderies. On the beer side, they have something for everyone. I really enjoyed the DRIPA and the stout. 4.5 stars One of the greatest breweries ever coming from a Nova/SoCal gal!! I've definitely seen my share of breweries but the people here were friendly and will let you taste before. Their beers are great-- just kind of on the high end of alcohol content. They do have a BBQ food truck right outdoors if your'e hungry but come here after you've had dinner! They have some "snacks" but they are really just here for the beers. If you're just visiting, please check this place out! It looks like nothing but the beer taste is great and so are the staff! They have plenty of beer to choose from, but I am not sure why a flight of 4 beers is $19. It was changed recently from $13 (you'll know because it's handwritten in the menu). My guess is that they don't want customers ordering flights so that jacked up the price to an unreasonable amount. Therefore, I went for a couple of pints instead. I didn't much like the IPA I had, which is abnormal for me. I did really enjoy a porter though. I would've liked to try more of them though. There should really be an affordable option for trying a variety. Anyway, cool tap room where you can see the tanks through the window. There is a popcorn machine. They also have some wine and mead they make as well. They just started canning a couple of their beers. The ginormous pretzel was delicious with both mustard and with cheese. I wasn't sure what to expect before coming here. This place has a low-key web presence on the list of craft breweries in Michigan BUT the DRIPA did not disappoint. My boyfriend and I tasted the fluffer and DRIPA but as soon as we got a sip of the DRIPA, we knew we both wanted glasses of that. Ambiance was great, very open, good for groups, lots of TVs and my boyfriend's favorite part--Mario kart! Kuhnhenn has some solid great tasting beers! Unassuming atmosphere, industrial like building in Warren with high top long picnic like tables, and a large circular bar in the center with plenty of seating. They have a large parking lot with plenty of spaces. It can get pretty crowded here. It's really close to the GM tech center so lots of GM workers stop in after work. The beers are all listed on a large chalkboard and they also have menus. One of my fave beers here is the Kuhnieweizen, a German wheat beer with delicious banana flavor. I also really like the Creme Brûlée Java Stout, a dark beer with chocolate, caramel, and coffee flavors. The Loonie Kuhnie and Simcoe Silly are also pretty good. They also serve wines, ciders, and meads. They have a Pink Lemonade cider that is tasty. They offer pints, flights, and growlers. You can also ask for a sample of beer before buying a pint or growler. Their food menu is limited to pretzels, charcuterie boards, and pizzas. They also offer free popcorn. The last time I went, I ordered the giant pretzel. When they say "giant" they mean it. I thought the giant pretzel might be the size of my hand but it was more like the size of my face, lol. The pretzel was so large, it was served in a pizza box! It was super delicious and was shaped like a smiley face with cheese sauce for eyes! They also have food trucks and pop up events as well. I'm not sure about some of the other reviews on here, but this is one of my favorite breweries in the area. It's a brewery for people that like to drink beer. It's not a place to go grab a full meal, although they have a few things like pizza and pretzels. They have a couple lighter beers, but the majority are pretty high percentage. There are some complaints about pricing, but I wouldn't say it's anything too extreme. Plus, the growler prices are solid for all of the high percentage beers they have. As long as you like beer and come here to drink beer, you won't be disappointed. Their variety is best in the area and they have a lot of variations within each variety. Grab a Dripa or Blueberry Dripa and you'll be happy. read more

This micro brewery has a creative set of beers, often themed for an event. I have had a sausage, blueberry, crème brulee and strawberry beer to name a few. On a warm Sunday afternoon, it feels great to sit at the bar and throw back a few brews with the large doors open and a slight breeze. If you love an original, dark tasty brew, come to Kuhnhenns. If you are a Miller Lite fan, please go to a sports bar instead. The food is limited to pretzels and popcorn. They do allow you to bring in your own. The solstice parties are a must attend for any craft beer lover! It's like a frat party for adults. My only complaint is the service. Some days it's on. Some days I feel like the waitress is taking out her PMS rage on me. Once we were served an incorrect beer and the waitress said 'so'? Imagine that if after the events of Peter Pan, the Lost Boys grew up a little bit, and in their adventuring somehow found themselves in Warren, Michigan. After a great snowball fight, they would have opened the Kuhnhenn Brewery. Jon was nice enough to take me on the nickel tour. He told me about the original building and how they've slowly grown and expanded and taken over neighboring spaces. The place is freaking crazy in the back. You can see the organic way in which the brewery has grown over the years. Crazy equipment sourced from other industries, acquired in the moment, based on the fact that they can't crank the booze out fast enough to satisfy the relatively small but seriously dedicated fan base. This may be the best brewery ever. I wanted to see the mead production, but the guy wasn't there (he lives across the street), "We stay out of his area when he's not here." Jon explained to me, fair enough. Nice job on the mead, mysterious mead guy. They have terrific, non-pretentious attitudes. You know how cool people don't care about being cool? That's these guys. They make the best beer anywhere and they're really happy because they know they're having fun. They make so many different kinds of beer it's hard for me to even consider the menu. I just took whatever they gave me. It's really another world there. I don't know that they offer any kind of formal tour, but it's totally worth it if you can get somebody to show you around. Kuhnhenn Brewery... my very first taste of Michigan microbrew beer. And since then, it hasn't stopped. I've been going to Kuhnhenn for quite some time... easily back in to 08 when it was a small hole in the wall... and could barely fit 20 people in the establishment. I've stuck through it now that it has gotten much... much bigger. I'm proud of the place, and every time I go in there it is still an amazing time. The beer selection never disappoints... they have everything for the dark beer fans, light beer fans... and even a killer wine selection. Make sure to check Kuhnhenn out. Don't be surprised if they are busy... this is a sign of a great place. If you want a really good time, go during the week day when there isn't a huge mass of people there. Came in for the root beer. Left satisfied. I had heard they made their own root beer and I was nearby, so I came in. Their beer list is extensive and very interesting, but I was driving so I passed. Definitely worth a visit just for that sometime. It is, essentially, a big bar for people interested in good beer. Not just a random place to drink, they are very passionate about what they do and apparently very good at it. There's a small menu, typical bar food like pizza and pretzels. It's a wide open space with many tables and a big bar; lots of windows. It was very busy on a Friday night, and parking was tight. Very loud inside, with happy people having conversations. I asked for a root beer and got it swiftly. It was very good- tasted homemade in a good way. The menu mentions honey and vanilla and both were up front in the flavor, though overall it was herby and rooty instead of super sweet. I should have gotten a growler to go. read more
