I have been to Dragonmede several times and have always really enjoyed myself here. I grew up down the street and lived near this brewery well into my late 20s. So it was a place that I frequented. I work nearby as well. I had this tagabrew from 2017, but I lost like 30 of them so decided to come back and collect this one. Eric the Red is one of my absolute favorite beers. They used to have trivia but I'm not sure now because like all breweries since covid, the hours are tight. It was their 25 year anniversary so I made sure I got a sticker. Always a very fun place. On the service drive for busy 696, alongside a number of small industrial suppliers and small workshops. Small parking area. Inside is a long dark taproom with a short bar on one wall. They have snack type pub food all the time and different food options at peak time. I had the Friday smoked beef and it was good. The staff is nice, and the beers are good. Dragonmead is a great brewery with a delicious selection of beer. The location isn't fantastic, in an industrial looking building off the freeway. However, it does have its own parking lot with plenty of spaces. It's dim-lit inside, lots of brick, long corridor setup with short square tables, and plentiful seating. Dragonmead is Medieval, Knight, Dragon themed, and there are some nods to this theme with gargoyle statues, a knight's chair and a large mural of a dragon and lady, and other knightly decorations throughout. There is a bar when you first enter and they also offer table service as well. My favorite time to go is on Thursday nights when the Loaded Die hosts game night from 5 pm - 10 pm. I usually grab a beer at the bar when I first come in and start a tab and head to the back to find a game to get in. They have a pretty decent game library to begin with on a shelf in the back and on Thursdays when they have game night the host has a very extensive game library, pretty much any game you can think of. They also offer a raffle where you get raffle tickets for each beer you purchase and just for rsvping. I've won Exploding Kittens and another game in the raffle before. The main attraction is of course the beer. My favorite is Final Absolution but there are so many good ones here. Lancelot's Cream Ale and Guinevere's Golden Belgian are also delicious. Sin Eater, a decadent dark subtly sweet malty Belgian Strong is another favorite. I also really like the Killer Bee, a Belgian Trippel with honey flavors. The Ring of Fire, has a subtly spicy heat with hot peppers. I also really enjoyed the Elderberry Raspberry Wit, not overly sweet. They have a nice offering of IPAs, Belgians, Wheat Ales, Fruit Beers, and some meads, ciders, and wines to fit a variety of preferences. You can order beer by the pint, flight, and growler. A flight comes with five beers. You can choose your own flight or sometimes they offer a special. The last time I came, they had a light and fruity flight for summer for $9 with a couple IPAs, an Apricot, Raspberry, and Belgian Wheat Ale. I created my own and the beers in the flight were a pretty large size. They also offer a small food menu with waffle fries, chili, loaded fries, barvarian pretzels, a few sandwiches and mac and cheese. The chili and loaded waffle fries are very good. I had the turkey and jack grilled sandwich and it was also very tasty. Love their soft warm Barvarian pretzel sticks with mustard, honey mustard, and cream cheese dips. The mac and cheese was small and a little runny so that was probably the only miss that I encountered on their food menu. On Wednesdays they have a special offering of potato and cheese pierogi served with mustard and sour cream and they were super delicious. Their food menu is smaller and mostly small bar bites as opposed to a full meal. They also sell merchandise such as t-shirts, dog tag necklaces, stickers and beer cap earrings. Service is always very good. Even if you originally order at the bar, the sever easily finds you in the crowded bar to give you your food or beer and checks on everyone several times and remembers each person to present them promptly with the correct check, even when very crowded. It's kind of impressive. Overall, delicious beer, decent bar food, good service and always fun on game nights. I'll be back soon. read more

Recently visited Dragonsmead brewery to mix things up from our usual stop ins. I highly recommend visiting this place. They had a TON of beer choices (that they brew themselves), ciders, and cocktails with locally distilled spirits. The interior is unique and definitely themed appropriately. The bartender is friendly and knowledgeable. The only gripe I have is the lack of food options, but that's not really an issue. They also have maybe TOO many beers on tap. Maybe focusing on a couple less and improving or coming up with new creations could be in the future. Other than that, this place is great and I will return. read more

Because of its decor inside, if Medieval Times (the dinner theater) were a brewery, it would be Dragonmead. Don't let the terrible location, the hit-or-miss service or the bad food keep you from here. We're lucky in Michigan to have quality breweries, and Dragonmead is a prime example. Their sampler flight is highway robbery. I hope no one who works there reads this and then jack up the cost. But I wouldn't complain. But five 6-ounce pours for $10.50? That's 30 ounces of beer! Of beer that all have a high percentage of alcohol! My friend and I split the samplers, and it was still more than enough. I only had a few sips of each one, and since I was driving it was enough for me! (Also a lightweight.) I'm not all-too-familiar with microbrews in general so I had a long time deciding, but that's the fun part. My favorites in order were: Final Absolution, Oatmeal Stout, Honey Brown, Russian Imperial Stout (which they only pour half because of the Bourbon Barrel) and Honey Porter. I love the little details here from writing down your drinks on a card so you know which beer is which to the little coasters. The food is basic bar bites that I'm assuming are all frozen reheats. I mean, the nachos are the exact same thing you get at sporting events or you know, in high school cafeterias, with the plastic tray with the warm cheese. But if you're drinking, you really don't care about the quality of food, right? Still, my cheeseburger was actually a double cheeseburger, the buns were right out of the fridge (warming it up would be nice) and ... I really do not want to know where the meat came from. Yikes. They also don't run your card if your bill is under $10. My friend and I split the bill and both used our cards (I know, I know), and they still ran it even though it was like, $9.75. Went in to try the February flight. It was fantastic. There were 5 different craft beers.Erik the red , strawberry rhubarb wheat, chocolate raspberry port, imperial stout,and juggernaut double red. All very good . The winner of all was the strawberry rhubarb wheat , it was not super fruity. Nice smooth beer and I was surprised how good chocolate raspberry port was , a nice smooth taste. I had a pulled pork sandwich off the limited menu. The sandwich had the pork, Mac and cheese melted cheese on a pretzel roll. The server was really friendly. Came in on a whim and tried the spring fling flight. We were not disappointed in the variety offered and also opted to make our own. They just added the Killer Bee (a honey ale) on 5/24, and I cannot get enough! The food menu is a little small but everything we tried left us wanting more. They offer a barrage of fantastic board games for entertainemt and if we were locals we would be here more frequently but will have to settle for visiting whenever we are in town. read more

I really want to like this place, but I feel like they make it hard. They didn't used to offer food in the past and they have for a bit now, but the food is just okay. Initially I had heard they were the cooks from Lazybones, but I much prefer Lazybones food. Also for the beer and mead, it is only okay. I have not found anything I would order again. And with regards to the service, it is always bad. Either you are ignored by the wait staff and bartenders or they are rude to you. They mostly only have tables of 4 and they have signs all over telling you not to move them that they will if you need additional seats. However, when you ask them to move them for you, they act like it is a huge inconvenience. If you are looking for a local brewery, I would much prefer Kuhnhenn's or Falling Down. read more

Extensive (award winning) beer list! My boyfriend and I went to Dragonmead for a euchre tournament on a Monday night. Other than the tournament, it was pretty dead. The staff was friendly and the beer was unique and brewed well. They have flights - choose 5 beers or get the flight of the month. They also have a happy hour ($5 pints) from 3-7pm on weekdays. I told myself I wasn't going to review this place but I now am ... I will say that I am going to try and make it a point to return, though, because I think it's probably more deserving of a 4-star rating vs. 3 stars. I came here this past Monday as part of a board game Meetup - apparently they host a board game night every Monday, and it's quite popular, as many people attended. What's also pretty nice is that the winner of EACH game played gets a free drink token, with I think a 1-2 token limit per person per Monday. I walked in and started playing a game with a few new people. The waitress showed up quickly, to take my order, but when I told her I mostly like sweet drinks, and asked if she had any suggestions, she didn't seem super enthused ... she recommended 1 or 2 beers and that was it. I decided to order the cherry mead instead, as I've only tried mead a few times and it's usually pretty good. At first it kind of tasted a bit like cough syrup, but I enjoyed it more as I drank more of it. It was hard to flag down the waitress for my check when I decided to leave, but another of the board games people said I could actually pay at the bar, so I finally was able to grab the check from her there. I had heard a lot of good things about Dragonmead and I was kind of "eh" about this initial experience. The food menu did look fantastic, so I'd like to come back here and order some food and maybe another drink or two. But for now, this venue gets 3 stars from me. read more

The hands down best beer at a Micro-brew you will find in the area, period. I've tried, Lord i've tried to find any other place that can match the amazing craft that these fine folks put together in this little tavern ensconced in a strip mall off the E-way next to a car repair shop. I just can't find better beer, and there are sooooooooooo many that there are a few I still haven't tried. Mind you, i've been coming here for a decade, only venturing out to sample what the others are up to and even though there are some hits out there, the misses outweigh them. But in the DragonMead, if you like a red, you'll like their red. You like a porter, have at it. Belgian style? All the way to 8 mile. There is no real food here, except on St Patrick's Day, then there is hella food here. Lazy Bones BBQ does a thing here on Tuesday, so if you want to eat when you come here, do it then. BTW, you can just call Lazy Bones or wherever else you like and they will bring food to you so you can eat at the bar, they don't mind. How cool is that? If you like to talk about beer, this is the place. If you like to drink beer, this is the place. If you want to act like you're at a regular bar, this is not, perhaps, your place. Conveniently located off of I-696 on 11 Mile, this is one of Warrens little gems. The decor throughout is appropriate considering the name of this Watering hole, from the wooden tables, the knights armor, the chainmail headpiece, to the broadsword displayed on the wall. This bar also has a modern touch with two LCD TV's. I came here because I wanted to try their mead (aka honey wine). Dragonmead is a microbrewery and they brew a lot of what they serve on site. They also have your major domestic as well as popular imports selection (they're still a bar after all), but most people go for the home brew and are regulars. My experience began with the Belgian Cyser Mead. A delicate mead, light and sweet with flavors of apple and honey. I was a little disappointed in this mead, I was expecting much more intensity in flavor and robustness. My next drink was the Cherry Mead. Now this was what meads all about! The flavor was rich and the finish was smooth and lasting. But be careful, at 12% abv, this stuff can get you wasted fast! While no kitchen was evident, they seemed to have teamed up with LazyBones Smokehouse, which serves an assortment of meats superbly complementing the medieval theme. From Chicken & Ribs to Sausage & Brisket, all your major protein groups are covered. I forgone the sauces to get the true flavours of their work, and the brisket was absolutely amazing! With a weekly menu featuring new concoctions in small batches, one will never get bored of this place. You'll be coming back for your old favorites and finding new ones. If you find a small batch brew you like be sure to let the staff know, if there is enough demand for it, it may just become a permanent item on the menu! My first 5 star review. Beers are very good. Final Absoultion is nothing short of wonderful! The Corktown Red is also very very good! Both are have great flavor, nice body, and are 99.9% of the time on the menu. Wine is tasty too. Only had it a few times, but what I had, I enjoyed. Food is limited, but they do allow you to bring in your own. Service..... :-/ Service is unfriendly most of the time. Great brew, always has been. Getting a little expensive but worth it. At least you don't have to pay for parking like you must in the downtown areas and some of the other micro brewing companies. So that they were out of my usual IPA brew, they recommend a brooks and Dragonmead NE style ipa turns out that I might have a new favorite. I feel like sometimes they focus on quantity over quality. The prices are can also be a bit steep for what you're getting. The sampler tray is a steal though. The service is usually pretty good, sometimes slower than it should be if they're busy, but the staff is always friendly. If it's on tap try the Ring of Fire. Unfortunately we did not consume one we liked. The only beer we enjoyed was the Strawberry Rhubarb Ale. Which was delicious. The 3 star rating reflects the service or lack there of. We had to hunt down a server multiple times and left because we could not get service. To the point we had to go to the bar to check out. I hope their new place has better service. read more

First thing I noticed was a musky smell. Weird. And cloth on the chairs? What the hell. All to better absorb the wet beer farts, my dear! I got a sampler card to fill in what I wanted, while another got a Sin Eater. I finished my card, and waitress didn't come to take it, despite the fact she took other peoples' glasses and served to others. She even walked in my direction. Eventually, I got the attention of another waitress, who took my card and got me my drinks. I drank them, I left. Simple enough. I wasn't here long enough to get a great idea of Dragonmead, but I got a decent one. There are plenty of varieties of beers to choose from. I have had about 10 different Dragonmead beers, and they've *mostly* been good or better. The five I had here were all very good ones that I'd recommend if they're available: Juggernaut, Copper Shield, Bourbon Barrel Russian Imperial Stout, Oatmeal Stout, and Sin Eater. The service is a joke, as I've established, and it makes me wonder just how bad it would be when the place is full. Stopped in for the first time on a pouring rain Saturday afternoon and the place was still busy, that's a good first sign. I've had many of their beers at festivals and other locations, but I wanted the source. I got a sampler of various beers (only $10.50 for five 6 oz glasses!). I tend to lean more towards porters and stouts but I broadened to include their Apricot Wheat and a German Weizenbock. The highlight of the sampler was the Bishop Bob's Holy Smoke. A Bamberg style Rauchbier that is made with smoked barley but a clean finish. Pair that with one of their sausage sandwiches and they fit better than two peas in a pod. I also got The Guido (chicken sausage with Parmesan cheese and grilled peppers), which served on a bun. It was overshadowed by the beer. The service was quick and they were very knowledgable about their beer, unfortunately that's not always a given going to a brewery. The location itself is not where you would expect, right off the service drive on 696 in a more industrial area. Lots of parking. The inside is seated like a typical restaurant with lots of space for larger groups. read more

Dragonsmead is one of my all time favorite spots. Great beer like its legendary Final Absolution or its evil brother Sin Eater and at least 20 others. The pub itself has dark wood, ambient lighting, decked out in armor and dragon decor and a few stained glass windows. Tip!
