Wanting to visit the store next door for ramen, but the line outside was too long for -2c weather. I just walked in without checking up on yelp first. I ordered a large sashimi platter and a few yakitori. The sashimi for 25€ I expected better or more types than 4 kinda of fish plus two shrimps. The platter came too quick for me to be suspicious that it was semi ready and was not prepared per order which defeats the chief's choice description. The yakitori, well, were also taste like premade. Chicken skin if made fresh would have been hot, crispy. Shitaki mushrooms were a bit dry. All in all, this was an ok choice given the circumstances. read more

I thought I'd found the world's greatest sushi in San Francisco, but Kuchi (how cute is that name?) definitely is of the same high standard. And price-wise it's incredibly good value too. 80c edamame beans anyone? And they come in a giant portion, in a proper wooden box! If you're taking a non-seafood lover here there are some excellent options such as stir-fries and noodle soups - our resident sushi averter welcomed the crispy duck soup which came with greens and pasta. All the sushi we ordered came on a giant platter... salmon skin rolls, California rolls, some of that sweet tofu stuff which wraps around rice, raw tuna... it was excellent. The pickled ginger and wasabi was generous and there was seemingly unlimited soy sauce you could help yourself too. The drinks were great too, my Japanese beer really hit the spot and not the wallet so much. The long benches give it that great communal feel, and there were no qualms about boxing up that which remained due to our eyes being bigger than our bellies. This Kushi restaurant is not so easy to find. If you going there by bike of car. It can easily miss it. So pay good attention on the street. The location is ok. Close to the park. So it was really relaxing and quite place. The place itself is quite big. Beside the table inside, there is also a garten, which offered tables as well. I actually got to this place because of I was in the mood for some noodle soups. My ordered was ok. I was expecting something more. The soup itself was really light. the sushi seem quite nice and tasty. But I was already full. Didn't really try them out. Maybe next time I come back just to try them out. The price was alright. Service is quite friendly. The thing is, I have tried some other Japanese restaurant which the food tasted better for me in Berlin. And Kushi isn't really close to me. If I am near by and really hungry for some Japanese kitchen. If you coming for the Ramen restaurant which just near by. For your information, they won't open till 18:00. most people who come here make reservations so when i arrived around 5 pm it was empty but every table was already reserved. nevertheless i could stay; if you don't make a reservation, make sure to come here before 7pm. i ordered some sushi rolls (3.50 for 6 salmon maki, 3.00 for cucumber maki, some special rolls for 9.00) and sencha (2.00). the quality and taste was good, not extraordinary, but it's worth coming here for their special rolls. i didn't take take a picture of the menu but they are very creative when it comes to said sushi rolls. I like the place just because I go there 4 years and I know every person working there. Being vegan it's not so easy to judge Japanese cuisine, but avocado rolls the place serves are top notch! The thing I can appreciate is friendly faces meeting me there every time I visit, serving my foods and comforting me. It's not so common for restaurants to keep their staff working for years. The backyard is very nice, so try to get a table out there if possible. I am not impressed by the service, our order was forgotten and we had to ask again. In contrast to many earlier comments, they did serve us tap water sans attitude, but they did explain that it was policy to serve tap water on a one to one basis with ordered beverages. While a tad odd, it is my belief that it is the right of any business to conduct it's business habits as desired, although with transparency. The food was good (excellent seaweed soup, good rolls), decor/ambience great, prices okay, service so-so (the server seemed annoyed when I asked to exchange the mineral water for tap water...which apparently isn't allowed). A restaurant that doesn't want to serve tap water, even to guests that order a lot of food and drinks. and are sick and need to take pills!!! Such a shame, as the food is actually good. But because of their NO TAP WATER POLICY and the waiter's ATTITUDE - I am NOT coming back again. We were 4 people and ordered a LOT of FOOD, a bottle of WINE and an extra small bottle of SAKE. Then I asked for TAB WATER (since I was sick and had to take pills). The waiter says ok and comes back with a bottle of mineral water! I told him I ordered tap water explicitly and he explains me in a super rude way that they only give 1 glass water per guest and I already had mine!! Now seriously??? It is not a matter of the 2 Euro mineral water price, because I can really afford it. It is a matter of principal, that a restaurant wants to charge you extra even if you are a good guest who just ordered food and drinks for 30 Euro. Bad decision of the management to try to save on tap water! Ruined the night (how come I have to beg for water when I need to take pills??!) and I wont come back even though I am always spending good money there. read more

Interior is pretty cool, the rolls were ok. A good place to have Asian cuisine, prices are not the lowest.

I had lunch here yesterday. I liked their menu, the outdoor seating, a good crowd (very media-type in my opinion) and the decor. Easy to find, centrally located and at lunch, it seemed like tables were pretty easy to come by. Wasn't as full as I expected from all the reviews here.maybe a different story at night. The food was really goodI had the sushi mix off the lunch menu. Everything was fresh and tasty and the price was right. Liked that it came with a Miso soup as part of the combo. Only gripe is that service was really sketchy. Considering that not much was going on, they were really slow and at the same time unattentive. This was quite disappointing as were it really full, this would have been much worse. read more

Dogs owners be aware of rats drinking there from dogs cup! I truly love Kutchi in Charlottenburg and since living on Rosenthaler Platz wanted to try lunch on my day off at Kutchi Mitte. The food was good but right after I finished I realized next to my table there is a huge rat drinking water out of dogs cup. I was paralized, rats are not my fav animals and especially when they run next to my table!!! I asked my waiter but she didn't seem to be worrying :-( will definitely avoid this place!!! and dogs owners be aware!!! read more

There are no ramen here. I don't know why it turns up on a search for ramen in Berlin. The sushi is ok, but small, elongated and hard to work. They charge 3.5 euros for a couple slices of ginger in tepid water. They call it ginger tea but it's 3 cents of ginger and hot water and taseless. read more

I wasn't "Wowed" by Kuchi, but it's next door annex, the Ramen joint "Next to" is pretty amazing. Open from 6pm to Midnight it serves up excellent noodle bar fare. All house made from the stocks to the noodles. I walked by many a time in the afternoon while they were prepping inside. When they happened to open the door one day as I walked by, and the aroma washed over me, I knew I had to check this place out. Four dinners later and I still can't get enough. I didn't know I could find one of the best ramen houses I've ever been to in Berlin. Sit at the bar and feel the heat as the chefs put together these great dishes. We tried 3 different versions, the tonkotsu, shoyu, and the wantan. They were all amazing. Definitely going back. read more

This is a small restaurant with some very good Sushi. We had a tasting menu with some sashimi, maki and sushi. The sashimi were of a good size and had a good texture. The maki had a good amount of fish in it. Not these cheap types where they put only rice in with just a little bit of fish inside. Prices are a bit higher, but Sushi is always more expensive as your regular dinner. Overall I did enjoy it, I will certainly go back. read more
