We love K's! Our daughter has been going full-time for almost a year now. She started in the infant center and will be transitioning to pre-school very soon. We love Miss Norma, Miss Kay, and Mr. Ali! K's is a smaller day care center, which we have come to really appreciate. Our daughter (and really, all the children) get a lot of 1x1 attention from the teachers there. It's always nerve-wracking to bring your child into a new environment, but the team at K's was super supportive and actually really helpful in making sure our daughter transitioned to a new daycare environment in a way that made all of us, including her, feel comfortable. After only a few weeks, our daughter was right at home. They have structured "learning time" for infants, and our daughter typically comes home with a new art project almost every day which is so sweet. They have an AMAZING outdoor space - sand box, a ton of bikes, and a fantastic play structure for all the kids, so the kids get a lot of outdoor playtime which is something that was really important to us. Once they transition to pre-school, pre-K, they have a really great room for these older kids with a lot of space to learn/dance/share time/reading time/etc. Overall, Kay and her team are so fantastic. They truly care about each of the kids, know each child on a personal level, and have helped so much in advancing all the kids to the next "milestone" (quick side note - my daughter was 16 months when we started and WAS NOT WALKING - Kay promised within 1 month she would be...she was walking 3 weeks later). Very Rude! I just called to find out how much the infant program was and the man that answered the phone was very rude! At first I didn't understand what he was saying so I asked him to repeat and he yelled we don't give rates over the phone and hung up on me. WOW! I wonder how they treat the children that go there if they can't even have a civil conversation with someone. This place looks cute from the outside and is very close to my house. Very disappointed that they didn't even get past the phone! This is the first place out of 15 that I called today who would not give me their rate over the phone. My husband and I moved our two daughter's to K's in September 2011 when they were 3-years-old and 6-months-old. We moved them from A Special Place on Union because we were looking for more teacher stability, organization, structure, education and a more loving environment. We found all of that and more at K's. One thing I love about K's is the education. My oldest daughter, now 5, can read, write and is learning math. Their education program is wonderful and they also do a lot of art projects. My youngest daughter, now 2, is learning how to spell her name and trace letters & shapes. She's mastered the ABC's, can count to 25 and is even learning some Spanish. For the older children they have annual parent teacher conferences, which are extremely enlightening and helpful. Miss Kay and the teachers are always willing to discuss any concerns about the children, whatever they may be (i.e. social, education, illnesses, etc...). Another thing I love about K's is Mr. Ali. He is there in the morning when I drop the girls off and there when I pick them up. He is a calming presence and a wonderful "grandpa" figure for the children. One of my favorite things about K's is that Miss K and her staff make every holiday extra special. They decorate lavishly for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine's Day. They have parties for the children and throw wonderful Mother's Day and Father's Day socials where the kids gift their parents with truly special handmade gifts. Everyone has room to improve, so to offer an honest review, I feel I should mention my top two negatives, which are pretty minor. 1. I think their Christmas holiday is too long (2 weeks) especially considering we still need to pay for the entire month of December. It's hard taking that much time off of work or find alternative child care. 2. My 5-year-old still needs to lie down and be quiet during naptime. She dreads this every day. She doesn't nap at home anymore, so I wish there was another option for the older children (i.e. perhaps they could read quietly in a separate room during naptime). Bottom line is that my negatives are very minor compared to all of the positives I've mentioned and the positives I could add. I have seen my daughters blossom here. They are both very different. One is a shy, rule following "lady" and the other I used to describe as the "class bully". With the help of the K's family, both my girls are growing into happy, confident, respectful, and educated children. read more

Our son has been at KQCDC for a few years and he loved going. The love and care our son (and I) received from Ms Kay and her staff has been amazing. Their program opened his mind to the world around him, the Holiday celebrations and Birthday parties were above and beyond, and their broad academic curriculum helped making him ready for Kindergarten. We have had our baby here for the past few months. (She is now 7 months old). She loves the ladies who care for her. She used to have a little stranger anxiety with them but she adjusted well. We've had our daughter here since she was 3 months old (she is now nearly a year) and she loves it. We picked this place because they seemed very well organized and professional and had a nice emphasis on early learning. The place is relatively small and very well equipped, but mostly the staff genuinely seem to love the kids. The staff turnover also seems to be quite low, which I think is always a good sign. We'll definitely be keeping our daughter here for the foreseeable future. read more

Very very Rude!!!! I'm calling to make appointments and shop around for daycare for my 2 1/2 year old, and the lady who answered the phone was very unpleasant. I first asked how much they charge for child care and she responded with an I can't give that information out over the phone. When I Explained to her if its out of my price range I don't want to waste any of our time driving there and making an apt, she yelled at me and told me $50 a day and hung up!! I understand certain places have certain guidelines they have to follow but if you get that kind of anger out of someone asking you a question how do you think they act with the children?? I would most defiantly not send my son here, if it was $5 a day. read more

First, don't listen to the negative remark that was made about the man being rude over the phone! I have had my daughter at K's since she was an infant and would never dream of moving her. I have never had an issue with the owners or teachers in 3.5 years that we have been going there. The owners are involved everyday and over see all the kids and teachers. They go above and beyond for birthdays and especially holiday throwing a thansgiving feast and having santa clause pop in for christmas! My daughter loves to go to this school everyday and has never said she doesn't like anyone! I would recommend this daycare/pre-k to everyone and have done so with my close friends. I have become friends with a lot of the parents and we are all at the bday parties for our kids and most importantly, the kids love eachother and care for one another! read more

My two kids - now ages 6 and 4 - have both grown up at K's. My daughter started there when she was 5 months old - I dreaded going back to work and leaving her, and spent a lot of time touring schools before I finally picked K's. By the time my son came along 2 year later, I had NO hesitation sending him to K's. The infant room teachers were loving and nurturing, and as infants, both my kids grew up cuddled and cared for (which didn't make it any easier to leave them and go to work!). As my kids grew into toddlers and transitioned out of the infant room, I had so much fun watching all they learned from the great teachers at Miss K's. They'd come home able to count to 10 in Spanish or tell me the steps a caterpillar goes through to become a butterfly. All of the holidays are celebrated with gusto at Miss K's - and the kids just love it. Halloween, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas - and especially graduation. One thing that really distinguishes this center from others I've explored is the curriculum. Miss Honey (and before her, Miss Debbie) are WONDERFUL educators, and I am proud to say that my four-year-old can read the same books that my first-grader reads at school. And both of my kids came out of Miss K's LOVING to learn. They are proud to be "scientists", and they love math. Hooray! Ms K and Mr. Ali really do LOVE the children and it shows. To this day, my daughter (who is now in 1st grade) still begs to run into K's to say hi to Mr Ali and Miss K - and we will all be a little sad when my son graduates this summer to go to Kindergarten! read more

My daugher Maggie stayed here since she just come to the United States. She does not speak any English when she came. After 4 months here she is just blooming with all the words. By the way, we intentionally not to speak English at home as we want her to be bilingual and not lose her mother tongue. Kay and her husband was so nice and welcoming. I do not understand why there are people saying that they are rude-and aparently one person used three different ID to try to ruin her reputation. That person did not even tell why! This Center is the best we have ever experienced. We have moved 3 times in the past 3 years... AND we have had some wonderful daycares/preschools/etc for our children that we loved. HOWEVER Kay's Quality Child Development Center has outdone the others by a long shot. I did not know I could love/trust anyone like my own family AND they can give my children a wonderful education on top of it! My child's academics have improved so much, and she has developed so much interest in school. My 4 year old has always been a bit "shy" and reserved. Two months at this Center, and she is friends with everyone, and begs to stay! It warms my heart to hear my daughter say to Kay "I love you". If you are looking for a place that is nurturing, fun and educational, this is it! read more

Nightmare. Though you will find a number of good reviews on this child care, please note that during our attendance, Mrs. K solicited "a good yelp" from me repeatedly. I could never bring myself to write anything that would draw new families into this mess. My daughter attended this preschool and there were several incidents that were absolutely unacceptable. If you desire stability and structure for your child, this is not the place to go. K has frequent employee turnover and during a one year period that my daughter attended she had to adjust to 7 new teachers. In the rare event that a teacher actually stays long enough for the children to bond and attach to them, those teachers are forced to leave without notice to children and parents when they resign. You will never be given a chance for you or your child to say good bye when a teacher resigns. You will simply show up to a new teacher in the classroom without notification. This was very difficult for my daughter and for many other children at the center. K speaks to her employees in a way I would never want to be spoken to. K has on many occasions rushed me out the door and even stated once that she needs privacy at her business and can't have parents hanging around. This child care also has unacceptable business practices. Beware of the non refundable deposit. Upon registration you will be asked to pay your first month tuition as well as a deposit, equal to an additional 2 weeks of tuition. This deposit will only be returned to you if you give a written notice of resignation, so if you don't submit that prior to your child graduating or when you decide you have "had enough", your deposit will not be returned. The holiday schedule is posted all year, however when the holidays approach last minute changes will be made. There were 2 incidents where K called me and informed me that I had to pick up my daughter at noon because she decided to close early (my printed holiday schedule stated 4pm). She also reserves the right to change her hours of operation ANYTIME. My daughter was nearly turned away and greeted with "what are you doing here don't you see I'm not open yet". This was at 7:05, I asked for clarification and I was told that it's her business and she can change opening times anytime. I explained that is fine as long as she properly informs her families as well as change the time on her website for future clients. There was also an incident where her gardener was inappropriate with me and made me feel very uncomfortable. When I reported this to her she stated that there has been a similar complaint by a teacher and that she would terminate his employment. I was very appreciative that she put my comfort and safety as a priority and found a new gardener. Several months passed and much to my surprise she rehired the same Gardner because "he just does a better job". This made it very clear that safety is not the first priority. If her landscape is more important than the comfort and safety of your families and teachers and possibly the children than she is clearly in the wrong business. One last thing, my daughter was very withdrawn and "shy" while attending K's Quality. It turns out it was just insecurity, likely due to the constant negative energy at the center. Within one week of moving her to a different day care she was a confident little social butterfly. read more

When I had to return to work after my first baby was born, I was very apprehensive about putting my 4 month old daughter into daycare. K's Quality was one of many daycare centers that I visited. I chose K's Quality due to the comfort level I felt with the Owners, the good organization and the small size of the infant program they offered. I have not been dissapointed. My husband and I both feel that the Owners and the staff have given our daughter and us an amazing experience. My transition back to work has been very smooth because we know our daughter is happy and in excellent care. Our daughter has been at K's for 6 months now. We are relocating to Livermore, so I have to find a new daycare for my daughter and I can only hope that our future experiences with daycares result in such positive outcomes. read more

I sent my kids to Kay's for 3 years, and felt they were well prepared for Kindergarten after they graduated. There are a lot of things I like about the school. The teachers are experienced and give them lots of worksheets and art to do. They also provide lunch and snacks so you don't have to worry about meals. The school is very clean and the play yard has really nice equipment for young kids. Kay the director also is very hands on and knows exactly what is going on with the kids and makes sure everything is going as planned. She's also a great resource for discussing how to influence behavior and learning skills since she herself has advanced degrees in education and this is her passion. She also has great parties and decorates a great deal for Halloween, Christmas, Graduation, etc. which the kids loved. read more

How RUDE & MANNER-LESS can one person be!!! That too someone who runs a day care and is supposed to take care of babies and teach them!!! OMG... I cannot believe parents who send their kids here have not felt that... I read the review of other parent about not letting us know about the tuition on the phone. I thought that was strange but wanted to give them a chance as this place is on the same street as my older kid's school. I called & of course the same experience - NO info provided on the phone. OK fine I made an appointment for a particular day in the morning (although mornings are impossible for me b'coz of work) & she said afternoon times are not good as kids will be sleeping. I thought it was a valid point. I showed up at the exact time of my appt & she said there is nothing in the books showing that we had an appt!!! & then she remembered our conversation & said why don't you come by tomorrow afternoon (which was not possible before!!!) at 2:30. I was frustrated. But I said OK fine & came back next day afternoon at the time given by her. Now is the shocking part - SHE SAID SHE WAS TOO TIRED TO GIVE ME A TOUR!!!! & that she did not have a spot for my kids age anyway... WTF... why did she make me go there TWICE!!!! My son was at Kay's for his entire pre K experience lasting around 3-4 years from 2-6yrs of age. She was even certified and implemented a kindergarten class for parents timid about entering their babies into the 30 kid sized classrooms in our public school system. She offers a beautiful warm environment with a focus on a Piaget format of education. It is her belief that the early years are the most influential in molding a successful, healthy, and contributing person to society. She is hands on in every classroom and baby room and only hires experienced, loving, and well educated teachers. My sons teacher is now coincidentally one of his cub scout leaders and played a crucial role in helping him expand his social skills and develop proactive peer interaction (he is a very shy boy). Anybody thinking they might be rude probably stopped by without an appointment or came across as demanding. She can be firm but her focus is the children, always. K's Quality does not focus on income or quantity. She is invested in quality and will make the orientation experience an in depth discussion and tour detailing every aspect of her mission but I advise everyone to call ahead as it can be disruptive to the classes that she is so involved with. She places great emphasis on grace, manners, and education. A loving environment that will give your child the true gift of quality early education. read more

We have had our daughter at K's for over two years now and couldn't be happier. Our next baby is on the way and will go there also. The staff really does a great job of supporting both the social/ emotional growth of children as well as academic growth. Our daughter knows so much now because of K's! Also, in response to some other posts, very few day care/ private preschools give information over the phone. Additionally, because of matters of security, some schools are very specific about visitation times. I remember when we were looking we often had to fill out a form of personal information before we were even able to tour the school. I feel K's does an excellent job of making sure the children are safe all the time. And I have never felt that anyone is rude at K's Quality. read more

My daughter has been going to K's for 2 years and it's been an absolutely wonderful experience for our family. Every day is filled with a balance of play time and learning time. The curriculum is well designed and the kids get to work on age-appropriate science and math projects as well as getting lots of physical activity and play time. I'm positive that she'll be well beyond prepared for kindergarten. Her teacher is dedicated, knowledgable and so sweet.
