I was repeatedly told "you're on contract" "If your child gets sick we will take a note from the doctor" so our children have to get Covid-19 before they will take it serious. I am not so sure that I want to send my son to a place that does not have his health and safety as a top priority. I asked what happens when we die then who's paying this contract? I also asked to speak with the owner of the company, at first told there was no way I could. Then was told to call back tomorrow. Adults are one thing OUR CHILDREN are different. We are to do our best to protect them and this should be a place that is on the same page! The schools close but this place knows more than the whole district? They should be respectful of the sensitivity of this situation and have a plan! They should want all the kids to return without getting sick not wait and see.

Exercise extreme caution before signing anything. Like any business that sells you a workout plan,…read moreyou are just as accountable for attending the classes as they are holding up their end of the deal. However, I experienced a breakdown on their end immediately. The private lesson that I was given as my first free lesson was very encouraging. I was excited about losing that extra 20 pounds and was preyed upon by these sales people. Immediately following this lesson I was put in a sales office with the owner. He told me FOR THE FIRST TIME that this lesson wasn't really free. Keep in mind that I was already done with the lesson at this point. The deal was that if I didn't sign up for their high pressure legally contracted lesson plan that I NOW HAD YO PAY OVER $100 FOR MY "FREE" LESSON! I was uncomfortable with their sales approach of essentially tricking people in to signing up or paying for that lesson... but they got me... I signed on the dotted line. In this meeting I was promised over $500 worth of equipment included as part of what I signed up for... I received a T-shirt... which they asked me to pay for at first and then was told that I needed to spend literally hundreds of more dollars on essential equipment that came from them. I was ignored and taken away from the group when I mentioned that "I signed up for the package where my equipment was included." The instructor tried to separate me and give me a pair of gloves to "shut me up." The reason I wrote this review is because of one thing. I was paying them over $150 per month to work out there. I told them that I did not feel I was given what was promised and the classes are NOTHING like your "free" private lesson on the first day. I had paid on time in full for 4 months and sent them an email. I asked about terminating my contract because I didn't feel they were holding up their end and requested to sit down with them. Immediately I was met with a legal letter telling me that I was lazy and wanted out because I'm of low moral character. The letter went on to say that they were threatening legal action. I was blown away, I asked for a meeting to discuss something and had never missed a payment and that's what I got. This business clearly wasn't for me and I should have never signed up for something I was this uncomfortable with, but I was motivated by trying to improve my body. All I will say is please don't sign anything until you have went to a few of the regular scheduled classes and have 100% of the information about what they will expect you to purchase from them once you are a member. Don't let your feelings about your body cloud your judgment about this business. I would recommend declining the "free" lesson and paying for a few GROUP sessions before ever signing anything. I was trapped by a contract to workout somewhere that I was uncomfortable with taught by people who I was very uncomfortable with.

On my first day, I was welcomed by one of the instructors, Jonathan. He could probably tell that I was intimidated (I am female) and overwhelmed, so he took me aside and taught me a few moves and told me about all the "regulars" who come in to class. I originally signed up only for the kickboxing, but discovered I also like Brazilian Ju Jitsu, and all the other classes they have to offer. LaMont Taylor is a great instructor, positive, and motivational. Oftentimes when I come to class it's like getting a private lesson. This place is not like 9-Round or Iron Fit. You will actually learn moves, technique, and have the opportunity to spar with classmates & instructors. Whereas, at the other gyms, you get an intense workout by only punching a bag and training like a boxer. Everyone has different preferences, but I enjoy learning more of the self-defense at Headbangers KBA. 13/10 I highly recommend!

However, i liked every single class. I have been taking kickboxing classes for a year through Groupon just to try different locations and classes and this is one of the kickboxing class I would recommend. Unfortunately, it's little too far from where I live. they do mix classes with children and adults, which I did not expect, but nothing wrong with that concept. All of them have been training longer than we have for sure. The instructors like to do some random 1:1 sessions during our workout which I liked. Having that short 1:1 session just to see what you can improve was a plus! I would definitely recommend this place for some great kickboxing class. Also they call their kickboxing, muy tai.

If you're looking for a fitness club that you can slip in and out without being known and without being pushed, then this probably isn't for you. But if you want to actually reach your fitness goals and get in shape, then I'd look into Thrive. The best part about Thrive is the community! There's a Crossfit class (obviously), but there's also a class called "ThriveLite" which is a 45-min class that utilizes less weights and more cardio. And for the bodybuilders, there's a weightlifting club. The structure of the gym is class-based. This means that when you come, you'll be working out with other people of various skill levels. This also means you'll have a coach who explains every movement and pushes you and the other Thrivers in the class to do more than you think you're capable of. It's like getting all the benefit of a personal trainer without the awkward "Just work out while I stand here and stare at you" from some personal trainers. You also get an online profile where you track your progress from each workout so you can measure your progress. It's worth it.

Previously, my husband had paid the owner/instructor to get his black belt which was around 3000. Give or take. Once he paid the money the owner/instructor shut down and left the area. My husband texted and called him over and over with no response. While he was still trying to reach him, he opened up a studio on the Southside. He never refunded my husbands money or trained h. When we walked in, he remembered my husband, yet he avoid saying to much to him but focused talking to me. My kids enjoyed the classes but only one of them got a uniform, the other a t-shirt, with a promise of getting him a uniform. After they told me it would be 6 weeks before he got a uniform (which the class was over in 4 weeks) we made a point to order one off of Amazon. He felt embarrassed about coming without a uniform. so I purchased one on Amazon, so he wasn't so very embarrassed each time he went. Every time we showed up we were pressured to sign up for a full year at a cost of 3000. Per child, however if I paid the full 6000. Our entire family could come. They were in the middle of remodeling but also felt it was always dirty and not even close on following the board of health rules or the Covid basic guidelines. No sanitizer, the parents were sent to a group of (broken down) theater chairs and we were sitting side by side, no seats were closed on them to maintain the 6 feet guidelines. Children not enrolled in class ran lose in the seats coughing and nose running. Another child about 8-10 was pushing a child approximately 12-18 months around in a stroller in front of the bleachers, letting the baby in and out of the stroller, the youngest would then randomly go to people and want to be held. The kids took their shoes off at the door and walked on the mats that had clearly not been cleaned in forever. From looking at the feet of the instructors, there was fungus on a lot of toes. It's sad they couldn't offer a better facility. For what was offered I wouldn't pay the special rate of 48.00 per person for 4 weeks. We may not have paid the 3000. Per child but if it had been cleaned and then was offered a monthly class, we would have probably paid it. But the disarray of the place along with past experience with the owner and high pressure to purchase a year membership gave us a bad taste in our mouth. We will be searching for another facility.
