With the leaves beginning to fall, I felt called to order an autumnal baked good: a maple-glazed apple cider donut. The maple frosting sharply cut through the cake donut, adding an evenly distributed Vermont-flare to each bite. The donut was clearly made this morning with care and precision, icing still soft and the donut still fluffy. The head baker at Kru certainly knows their profession well. The iced coffee was delicious, with the vanilla syrup blending smoothly alongside the coffee. The texture is delightfully silky. I was energized after drinking half of the large size. read more

I love Kru coffee! We came on a Sunday morning in the summer around 9 am and there was no line. The cutest, most comfortable spot to get caffeinated, chill, get some work done, meet up with friends, etc. They hit all the stops from their superb ambiance to just having great coffee and food. I love how big the space is. They have tons of seating-couches, booths, tables, and more. Awesome decor. Great vibes. Nice music. They make their baked goods in house, the scone I got was delicious. Just how a scone should taste-crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. My dad really liked the breakfast sandwich he got, he said the ingredients tasted really high quality and that the nitro cold brew was the best he'd ever had. Employees were very friendly. Stopped here on our last day after struggling to decide where to grab a coffee due to many places being closed for Labor Day. We were very pleased with the choice, as the coffee was VERY good. The wait was a tad longer than I would have liked, but not unreasonable. The overall place was very clean and fresh looking, with a fun layout and numerous seating options to both relax or get some work done. The overall vibe of the place was interesting - my initial reaction was that it seemed like they combined the Apple Store and Abercrombie, but then decided to make it a coffee place. The music lightened up a bit a moment later, but the image stayed stuck in my head regardless. I'm still not sure if that's good or bad, but it seemed like a good place where you could somehow both relax and be productive. read more

I visited Burlington for this first time and was introduced to this coffee spot by my hosts! The interior of Kru is so aesthetically pleasing and modern, so at first glance there's already a positive feeling. The ambiance reminds me of a hip spot that one can relax with friends, family and acquaintances over a snack and beverages, and perhaps get some quick work done. I have tried the Lotta Colada tea (tastes like pina colada with some lingering lavender flavor), Nutella latte, Godfather, and Nitro Brew coffees and they all tasted amazing! There are also sandwiches and a variety of pastries in the store. The staff was always very nice and also made sure that they were patient with me; I even asked about their personal recommendations when I felt stuck on multiple options and they never hesitated to assist me even when the shop seemed busy. Kru has an amazing atmosphere and tons of seating, although during its busiest hours it gets filled up fast. Their honey lavender latte is good, although it lacks much taste of the lavender which makes for a somewhat dry coffee. Their pastries are perfect; I highly recommend the blurberry lemon muffin. If you're prepared to wait in line, Kru is great! The line was long, but it went by pretty fast. Ordering was quick and easy and the wait was only few minutes. I got a chai latte, it wasn't as sweet as I would like it to be but they do have a station with milk and sugar so that was perfect for me. After my family left Burlington, the first place I went to was (of course) a coffee shop. Kru Coffee is spacious, bright, and airy with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and service was quick and friendly. This is definitely somewhere you can study or get work done on your laptop. The menu was quirky and innovative; I got a normal latte and Cardi Bee Latte, both with almond milk (milk substitutions are reasonable at a $0.75 surcharge) and loved both. The normal latte had a good amount of foam, and the honey and cardamom flavored the Cardi Bee Latte distinctly. The sprinkled cardamom over the foam just elevated the Cardi Bee even further. From the space to the coffee, Kru has for sure made a regular out of me. What a wonderful introduction to the Burlington coffee scene! read more

The donuts.... Wow!!! May have found my new favorite apple cider donut in Vermont. Freshness, flavor, cooked to perfection. However, the "sage against the machine" latte I had was quite disappointing- it was supposed to be espresso, sage, orange zest and brown sugar. I parked at Pearl Street right outside the coffee shop. Didn't have change for the meter so I went in and asked if they could break a $1 bill for me as it was the only cash I had. They told me they couldn't do it even though they were in the drawer already. Told them I wanted to pay the meter and then come back in and get a coffee as I saw the meter man right around the corner but because I was using the card they could still not make me change. Then the owner proceeded to get on my review and tell me there's a bank across the street ... Talk about rude. The drinks here are very tasty. I got a cappuccino and enjoyed it! The service was fast and friendly. I do wish they would serve "for here" drinks in dishes rather than paper to-go cups. There are many seating options like low-lying couches, bar window seating, and tables. Some areas have outlets, some don't. My husband, brother-in-law and I wanted to sit and work on our computers for a while, but it was busy and we couldn't find a table with an outlet. The biggest turn off for us was that the music was really loud and not a good coffee shop vibe - they had artists like Ariana Grande, Rihanna, etc blasting over the speakers. Every little detail about this place is really really special, from their kru dogs photo wall to their mosaic "KRU" panel on-top of their counter. The wallpaper, the DETAILS. Everything combines to give you an energized yet cozy feel. Everyone is very professional and the service is very fast. OK now to the coffee. Holy shit. If you're not going to try the maple whole milk latte with cinnamon, you might as well go to Dunkin' Donuts. Also the nitro cold brew has an unbelievable toasted flavor with a sweet fresh. There is no bitterness whatsoever in this coffee. This coffee is brewed perfection. You will not regret coming here.
