    Quality eggs
    Millette T.

For a long while, I didn't like this Kroger (as I feel about most of them). It usually feels like their lighting and interior is trying to be home-like, but reminds me of homes that I haven't experienced as clean enough for food storage to the public. That lighting. That interior. The lighting is better here. On most recent trip, I very warily popped in because I needed eggs and it's on my way home after visiting my brother. Half of what I haven't liked is the clientele. They look like the Galveston kind, but they're here. Somehow. They scare me because they have a look of years of drug and alcohol wear and tear. Addict life. All I could guess is they're from apartments nearby. Guessing 50s-60s+. But they could be... 35-40+. I've noticed the addict life won't show, then it suddenly accelerates their physical being a decade or so more. This last trip, I didn't see any of them. The organic section is just above average. The selection of basics are solid, the items are actually fresh and have a fullness. The store-prepared, cook-at-home meals looked good and was vast, perhaps for the medical crowd that seems to dwell in this neighborhood. The sushi section looked primarily for non-sushi eaters, to me. The breads look middle class America, corporate quality. Not really tempting, but larger selection than expected in a major chain. Maybe if they pay for skilled training and pay more to keep the skilled workers, it would improve. The kitchen wares are two aisles, and look like a fair quality selection. Those were tempting. The beer selection looked good! Maybe because of the white addict worn shoppers I've seen. The seasonal section always has squishmallows. I know because this brother has three little ones with a Taiwanese mom raised in the tradition of no human hugs. My brother says a lot about his in-laws no hugs. But, the three kids were raised with bay-bays (daily blankets. Not know how to spell it. That's how they pronounce it) with an allowed transition to toy animals. It is very sweet. I remember wondering about the meat and dairy sections when the pandemic first started, because it looked pretty vast, just empty. But I didn't venture there on this trip.

This is the third time I've bought protein that was spoiled, from this location. The ground sirloin looked perfectly red on the outside but the inside was completely gray. The same thing happened with a package of ground chuck I previously purchased at this location. The salmon looked fine, wasn't slimy, and didn't smell while it was raw. But as it cooked, it smelled weird. I finished cooking it and (reluctantly) tried it, and it tasted just as weird as it smelled. I tossed both in the trash and called for a refund, which I can't get until I go back into the store

I trust their standards, especially when I'm trying to avoid unnecessary additives and preservatives. I'm a very loyal customer to their bakery, especially for special occasions like birthdays. Their Chantilly cake is hands down the best cake I've ever tried, and it's what I always come back for when celebrating. The bakery alone keeps me coming back, and I always rely on them for cakes. I also love their bread. It does expire faster, but that's actually a good thing since it has minimal ingredients. I just pop it in the freezer and take it out when needed and it tastes exactly the same. The quality is great, and the bread is pretty affordable for how clean the ingredient list is. The ambience is great and honestly one of my favorite parts of shopping here. The store feels clean, calm, and enjoyable to walk through, which makes the experience better overall. Service can be okay. Most of the time it's fine, but occasionally the cashiers near the beverage area can come off a bit rude. It's not a huge issue and hasn't stopped me from shopping here. Yes, it can be expensive if you grab the wrong items, but the 365 brand is usually much more affordable and still great quality. Overall, I really love shopping here and keep coming back for the quality, bakery, and atmosphere.

There just is nothing so overwhelming that the price per pound should be as high as it is. Salad bar items are 11.99 a pound. Olive bar, I would expect to be higher but not 11.99 as well. I completely understand and it's very well known that because of its organic food selections and quality that Whole Foods does selectively market to a higher economic demographic that is less price sensitive. However, I am in that upper demographic and I'm getting distracted by getting a salad and some olives and walking out of the store with a $35 bill. At this price, I can just eat at a restaurant, and a decent one at that.

So we went and it indeed had everything. The longest line was for Grill City. In all honesty, I feel like Grill City is a bit overhyped. The kare kare didn't taste like my father-in-law's. He makes the best kare kare. But you can't beat home cooking. Too bad my FIL is in CA. The liempo was good, but how can you really mess up grilled pork belly? However, I did like Sizzle. Their bangus sisig on a grilled platter was so delicious! I was jealous of my husband's pick. I also really loved the items at Valerio. Reminds me of Panorama City in CA. Everything here was light and bright and it smelled clean. Would I come back? Only if I'm in town. Next time I'll bring a big cooler.

I have been going to Keemat Grocers since 1988 when it was on Settler's Way and Hwy 6. I bought products for the upcoming Lakshmi puja, but I dropped the bag on the floor and it touched my feet. I wanted to exchange four items ( a coconut , paan, bel leaves, and 2 suparies), and this staff initially wouldn't exchange the items and said so rudely and said to just wash them. I told him no and he very rudely asked me to get the items. I was shocked with his rudeness as if I was trying to get things for free. I would appeal to Bengalis in Sugar Land not to support Keemat grocers unless they train their staff to be polite and cordial.
