The Manager here handles complaints by having you speak to the one you are complaining about, be it in person or by phone ! The Bakery didn't want to work with me to engrave a simple sheet cake, I was told she was busy , she can't hold cakes, I'd have to come in there, etc, rude and disrespectful, I called the Manager , soon as I said the Bakery department, she transferred me to guess who ?? This is the 2nd time I had complained and the Manager called the person , who I had already been arguing with to come up and the Manager just walked away !!! Is this laziness ? Rudeness ? I must say this Kroger has a wonderful section of pre-packaged salads and lettuce. Fresh and of good quality. That is the main reason I come here. They also have a good selection of other items in this store. They don't have everything I need and I find myself going to other stores to get it but overall a good selection. It can and does get busy, just depends on time. read more

One of the nicer Kroger's in the area,, definitely a nice spot to shop in. Plenty of parking space and there's a gasoline station with the Kroger loyalty discounts. This is absolutely a really nice place to shop. HOWEVER!!! My recent visit was a bit of a cringe factor. Because not only did I see employees walking around with their face masks under their chini chin chin. One of them was a younger girl employee right when you enter and procure a cart. Another one was walking around by the dairy section. The third one was over by the U-scan, talking to the cashier right next to my machine. THAT WAS DEFINITELY WITHIN MY 6 FEET, IN MY ENCLOSED SPACE. Not a care in the world but his own "FREEDOM" possibly infecting me and maybe many others. He did help me find a price for the sriracha since it wasn't scanning. I talked to him, "Are you working right now?" "No, I'm on my break," he replied. With his mask under his chin, walking and talking all cool and stuff. "Can you fix your mask please." Which he immediately complied. I pay to shop here and hopefully be safe from the CORONA VIRUS, not to correct your employees. Aren't there managers for that? Not to mention quite a lot of them (EMPLOYEES) with their noses hanging out from the top of their masks. NO RESPECT! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!! If you post a sign that we should wear a face mask by the door I expect your employees to do the same. I even saw people walking around without face masks and not getting kicked out or have someone say something to them. If you're all about not caring about other people's health. Then please do attract that crowd. Other than that, I'd stay away from this place. Specially if their staff is VERY COMPLACENT about your chances of dying from the Corona Virus. DISGUSTING! I really love this Kroger but this is an issue. I was here about 2 days ago and as soon as i walked in with my daughter to get cart, a 2 MICE in a produce bag fell out of it. This is a serious health issue and if there is one there are many more which is a NOT okay with how many unsealed cracks and crevices there are especially in the meat area. Seems like a pretty nice store, we randomly stopped in here today. We were looking for dinner ingredients but we poked around a bit, too. This is a Kroger Marketplace store and it has everything from clothing to non-grocery goods to kind of niche items (like the pic of the living basil that I posted). Gotta go 4 stars on this place. Meijer still beats it with 5! I remember the Super K that was here because I used to shop it often. It was a hot mess, unorganized and disjointed. The food section was an after thought-you'd find abandoned carts in the aisles left by people who had given up. The produce and frozen areas were dirty and the other areas had expired food. Now that Kroger has turned this into a Marketplace, you can see how a little planning can make the same space seem so much more user friendly. The place has generous aisles and an easy on your knees floor. The layout, with fresh up front and beverages next to it makes it easier to shop. The manager's special area is right at the front and that is a great way to score some good deals. You don't have to go looking for them. The downsides, in the other areas of the store, are the prices. The clothing is drab and overpriced. Even with a 25% off coupon flyer in the section, you could tell that you could do better elsewhere. The toys and office supplies are more expensive than what I can get at Big Lots or Meijer. Whoever does the buying for the softlines needs help. All the color stories were dull( you can tell I was in retail management). I would still bebop between the two stores, flyers in hand, if I lived in the area. And this place makes the Eureka Rd. Kroger look like an eyesore. I would think that one would close soon-this is so much better than that one. Another problem was the staff-some of them seem inexperienced. The cashier I had was dismayed that I gave her a $100 bill at the start of her shift. An experienced trainer came over to reassure her that that was okay. They have a great selection compared to their neighbor across the street (Meijer). I went here and purchased quite a few things. Of the things I decided to purchase a, a whopping 80% of the items I bought were priced LOWER than Meijer and that was the everyday price (Kroger never used to be known for their pricing.) in addition, 16% of my items were priced the same as Meijer and 4% is unknown as I have never had to compare these items. Kroger also offers baggers which keep the lines moving nicely, and they they did a great job double bagging where necessary, separating the appropriate items, and placing the items back into my cart with care. (This is what Meijer USED to be). With superior selection, better pricing, and a full staff, this store has earned my business going forward. Update 4/19/19: your prices have seen increases all over the board. You're now priced HIGHER than Meijer across the street. Removing one star for this. read more

So excited to have this old Kmart location convert to a massive Kroger Market, Gas Station and beautiful Cafe with plenty of seating in and outside. Shopping 2 days in a row just WOWED by the selection of Booze, Clothing and Food Bar with Sushi, Chinese, Mexican and American meals all reasonably priced. Today's lunch a 2 pc Chicken with Mashed Taters, Green Beans ,Hot Roll along with free Sushi samples, outstanding flavor. I had a special order layered a dish with Crispy Wedge Fries then topped with Pollo, Barbacoa, Carnitas, Black Bean's, Pico de Gallo, Guacamole, Queso Cheese , Cilantro and Jalapeño OMG wowsa the meats simply perfection. Hey only 7 bucks you can get Burritos, Nachos or Big Mexican bowl of your choice. Love everything about this place the Kroger Cafe rules a must visit while shopping. read more

Do not apply for the credit card that offers an additional 55 cents off gas if you have 100 points. It is not worth the trouble. It does not work. Constantly asks for a pin or is simply not recognized. I am not the first person this has happened to. You can contact the company but be prepared, this will become a repeat action. I just love Kroger, from way back, before the Marketplace concept. Now, I just love it even more. Everything about it: The organic products available? The widest variety in any large corporation supermarket. The prices? Amazing discounts when you have their Kroger Plus Shopper's Card, and why not have one? it's quick and easy. Best of all... I live next door to their new location. I could not ask for anything more. Not to mention their Deli, their dining area, and let's not forget their Fish Fry feature, you just choose from their fresh seafood display which cuts you want right at that moment, they ask you how you would like to have them fried, their choices are Cajun, or Cornbread coating, just to mention a few, they will fry them for you on the spot, for no extra charge, and then you can go eat it at their dining area!!! I'm in heaven, they also have a Chipotle inspired menu, they call it "Mexican Street Food" at $7.00 (at the time of this review) with a wide variety of fixins'. I usually request their 'Bowl', a humongous container, in which I ask to load up with just about every item on display. They also have a regular American style deli, in which you can choose anything you'd like, and also their Pan-Asian section with fresh Sushi and Chinese food. This Kroger has the best parking lot ever. They have the largest parking spaces I've ever seen. I know, I know... this guy is talking about the parking spaces? LOL but actually this Kroger is the largest store in the company. It even has a clothing section, toy section and an expanded household good section in addition to aisle of great produce and products. I was never a Kroger fan but this one is my favorite and it's presence has made me more of a dedicated Kroger shopper over Meijer and Wally's mart. read more

They offered a sale on a product but didn't have it in stock. It was a buy 5 save $5 deal. They only had 4 items. I bought all 4, took a picture of the empty shelf and asked if they would honor the deal it allow substitutions. They would not. It took me eight minutes to track down an attendant to see if they had any additional in stock that just wasn't on the shelf. He came back after 15 seconds and said no they were completely out of stock and to just tell the register attendant who would help me out with the pricing. I went to the register and they wanted to charge me full price saying I didn't meet the minimum of five items. I explained to themdown independent to see if they had any additional in stock that just wasn't on the shelf. Kroger often plays an announcement saying, among other things, that their employees and vendors must wear masks. Yet every time I go into the store some employees are wearing their masks over their mouth only or have their mask down below their chin or have no mask on their face at all. If I can give a 0 star, I will. Terrible experience with Southgate Kroger. I got a recall notice on my recent receipt for frozen shrimps and went to return the package next morning. I didn't know the return center does not open until 8am. I heard somebody inside but no one want to come out for service. I took the package with me for shopping and came back for return. The service lady Cathy was having terrible attitude. First, she told me my package was not on the dates. Then why you print out the recall on my recent receipt? Then she told me that Kroger is not like Meijer, do not have customer's purchase history.--really, I can view the history when I logged in my online account. The whole process was terrible and she treated me like a piece of rag. Then I went to check out, the cashier Annette must be Cathy's good friend, giving me strong attitude. She acted like I owned her money or something. She also said the store credit I got is not even 10 minutes, not activated yet. At that point, I have decided never going to that store again. So much nicer than the old location on Eureka. It opened a week ago and was the most exciting thing to happen Downriver since Golden Corral opened! They were lined up at 5 in the morning for the 8am opening! The excitement has wore off somewhat and it is what it is, Kroger. My biggest disappointment is that I was hoping to see an organic section like the Gibraltar store has but there is not one. Still big improvement and much larger than old store. read more

It's a love/hate thing for me. The same produce guy from the Eureka store is there and he's the whip. Also, Gary, the friendly guy who always seems to get stuck out at the gas pumps. Pretty sure the same floral designer came because flowers are always outstanding. Somehow, a lot of the other more annoying cashiers came along. They feel compelled to call you "honey" and "sweetheart". I am neither one of those things and find their condescension repulsive. I'd rather go to self checkout. I would actually be fired for sexual harassment if I spoke to people at work the way they do. Now I thought with a store this size, we would see a whole lot more brands, but not so. The seafood counter is much nicer as is the deli counter, but cookies? Same old same old. How about some Fig Newmans? Same old endless bags of Lays potato chips and Better Mades, but what about everyone else? Same household cleaners, pet foods, etc. Now, they could have filled the aisles with more varieties, but instead, decided to now offer cheap clothing. I don't come to Kroger for clothing. My recommendations are: 1). Give produce, floral, and Gary a big fat raise, 2). Have a staff meeting about professionalism in the workplace. 3). I was really thinking this would be a expanded Kroger with Whole Foods thrown in with the mix which is badly needed in the Downriver area. NO. nothing expanded, limited organics selection, no hard to find ITEMS. Meanwhile I have no food to feed my children and $60 in NSF fees. When I call they have no compassion and I am given an 800 number to call.
