This is a Kroger. I've been visiting the Houston area for over a decade, and I've seen a few of these. As grocery stores in Texas go, it's solid: Clean and bright and the staff seemed pretty on top of things. They had just about everything we were looking for (including the chili crisp that our Texas fam had never tried) and a decent selection of ribs. Their Easter section was a little picked over, but overall not bad. The produce was solid enough, the checkout lady was super nice, and I love that they have Boars Head meat at the deli counter. Be aware though, if you don't specifically ask them to slice your turkey or ham or whatever thin, you're going to get the thickest cold cuts you've ever had. Or, the thickest cold cuts I've ever had. Maybe that's how you all do it down here, but you're doing it wrong, just like how you pronounce the name of your city. It's HOW-STON. read more

After the refresh, the store has gone downhill in a big way. Kroger is 5 mins from us but it's so bad we would rather drive 20 mins to an HEB. It's amazing Kroger corporate hasn't stepped in to replace current management. Service is horrible, all the longtime staff who were great have been replaced by self checkouts that are constantly malfunctioning.its normal to have one or no checkout lanes staffed The doors on the freezers, and refrigerators are all broken and do not stay closed causing heavy condensation on the food and frost in the freezers. I'm sure the constantly changing temps isn't good for the food. You can find expired food in every department like dairy, baking goods, canned goods, meat, etc. Restocking is always slow so you may not find what you came there for. Rats pop up often, and if you look for them you can find traps. The one thing that is ok is the isles with sport drinks, soda, juice, wine and beer. read more

Customer service agent Amanda should not be interacting with customers. She acts like she is put out every time we've talked to her. She rolls her eyes, and snaps back snarky comments. If you don't like your job go somewhere else. I called the corporate office and when they called to talk to her, she told them there was no one there by that name. don't shop sesbrook kroger:bad meat, out of sale items on friday morning(2days after sale begins) no one to help you in isles but watch out for personsl shoppers they will run over you. as a senior i do not appreciate the attitudes & excuses they have for mot wanting to do their jobs. the management well i was taught not to say anything if it wasn't nice. i miss this store being so friendly & a place i used to enjoy hoing to. i'm done so done with this store. please do better for the few people that can't shop anywhere else. read more

This is a review of the Kroger store located at 1905 El Mar Ln Seabrook, TX 77586. This store recently underwent a partial remodel. Although the store looks better, the quality of food is not. I bought a pack of chicken from Kroger that was marked "Manager's Special". Typically, these specials are provided for food items that will expire on the same day as the special. However, when I got home and peeled back the "Manager's Special" sticker that was covering the expiration date, I saw that the expiration date of the meat had come and gone. It is a dangerous practice to sell expired meat, knowingly concealing the expiration date...especially on chicken. Doing something like this could make the consumer deathly ill. Therefore, I implore this store to stop these dangerous and unhealthy practices. This will be my last time ever buying meat from this store, because now, I don't trust the package date on any of the meat, "Manager's Special" or not. read more

There is a definite managerial problem at this store. Every time I've gone in lately, brands have changed, out of stock on basic items, never have cigarettes, food goes bad really fast. Can't find regular brads you bought the week befor. Talked with several employees and it all points to management. It seems lately the brand are aiming at a particular minority and this is a very diverse community. We can go down the road to LaPort and find everything Kroger corporate need to get a grip on this. Decided to try their click list pick up again and extremely disappointed. Been waiting over 30 minutes for my order and there's only one other car waiting. I tried calling the store and instead of being put on hold they hung up. Beyond frustrated!! I should have gone to HEB!! read more

This is my usual kroger. I like it because I know where everything is, and it is not one of those GIANT stores that are easy to get lost in. They are remodeling now for a much needed update on the inside of the store. I hate the self check-outs and after 11pm on weekdays, all they have is self-check out. so get there before that. They are open late (6am-1am everyday), which is really convenient. Their pharmacy is expedient, but only open 9am-9pm M-F, 9am-7pm Sat and 9am-4pm Sun. Their produce isn't the greatest, but it's not terrible, either. Arlan's has better produce, no question. sometimes things will ring up wrong, and i have to wait in line at customer service to get my money back, which is annoying. although i think that is a blanket kroger thing, not something unique to this store. *tip: register your kroger card on their website. you can load digital coupons to your card there! read more

Horrendous experience all because of your manager Nathan. He checked out my groceries and directed me to customer service counter for a toll pass. I expressed how long the line was and he indicated it should go quick. Once he was done checking out the customers, he casually looks at his watch and ignores all the customers waiting in the line. He could have a been a "go getter" team leader and help his team but pretty sure he just took a donut break. After waiting for 20 minutes in the line, I was informed that they DO NOT sell toll passes. What a waste of time!!! Managers should be knowledgeable and lead by example. This guy is just an overpaid cashier in my eyes. Not a true leader/manager. Will NEVER come to this Kroger again. I will have my groceries delivered via shipt app from HEB. read more

The deli department has redeemed themselves! After the fiasco of the first time (they never printed our platter order), we decided to try again. I ordered online, and asked them to confirm when they received via a phone call. When they did and assured me it would be ready when we needed it, that was a great sign! I also called that morning just to be sure, and they assured me it would be ready. Sure enough, when I got there, it was all ready to go! I ordered a wrap platter, a cheese platter and a fruit platter. And man, these were a hit at work! Everyone loved the wraps (we got a mixture of meets and cheese and tortillas) and the cheese and fruit made a nice compliment as well. I ordered again last week, and got the requested phone confirmation, and although they forgot the tortilla variety, and just used white ones, it was still a hit! I just got bags of "healthy" chips and everything was only $45. You just can't beat that! We've also ordered a cake here, and it was done correctly, and ready on time, as well. I didn't have any, but I heard it was great! I will definitely use their deli/bakery department again. I will just make sure I get a confirmation phone call along with the e-mail! read more

PHARMACY As a new pharmacy customer, I called in a transfer for a script from another pharmacy on a Tuesday. The young man helping me said it would be completed in 1 hour. I stopped by the next day to pick it up, and was told they were out of stock and had to order it and it would be in "sometime Friday". I asked if they usually contact their customer to let them know the meds were out of stock. Pharmacist said yes, but my phone number was not in the file. That's strange, because I had to give my number twice to the young man, and he repeated it back to me. She took my number and said they would call me. This is SATURDAY NIGHT and I just received a recording that my script is ready. In reading other reviews, I concur about the lack of service/communication. I will be transferring the script elsewhere for future refills since I don't want any further issues and certainly don't want the headache of having to micromanage my med from here out. This is my friendly neighborhood Kroger. It's your typical grocery store... you know, they have food and toiletries. I find most products I need, but not necessarily cheaper than other places. The cashiers have always been friendly. The produce is not that great. In fact, the red onions are TERRIBLE every time I need one. I call M to pick one up elsewhere on his way home. There are tiny gnats/flies buzzing around the red onions and some of the other produce. I have brought them home! Ugh! Other than that, their meat selection is good, and they have a nice selection of everything else. read more

I try hard to avoid this Kroger as much as possible. The first time I went I was really disappointed in the produce. Much of it was way past its prime and in the process of going bad. The lettuce and zucchini I wanted to buy were wilted and there wasn't much fresh produce at all. That night I went was Saturday and although Saturday nights tend to be very busy, there was only one cashier. He seemed to be having a hard time processing a customer's purchase so I waited over 30 minutes before someone came to the next lane to check me out. I've gone there one to two more times because I was picking up something from Walgreens. One time went well, the other went terribly because the young cashiers were talking and/or playing on their phones. When I was using the first checkout to buy some veggies, I couldn't find one on the computer. I pressed the "help" button and the cashier asked me what I needed and yelled the code across the counter. She didn't bother to come by and help. Needs some adjustments and better staff. read more

This store was filthy today. Rotten & old fruit and vegetables. Cilantro was wilted and surely contained lots of bacteria from the rotting leaves. In the dairy counter by the fresh fruits and vegetables milk was all over the shelves and spoiled. Also I am sure the fire department would be concerned over the lack of required space between isles and displays = you can't even get back to the butter or eggs without hitting a community coffee display. It's a decent grocery store, but really nothing special. Prices can be decent with a Kroger card, but lots of things are cheaper elsewhere. They've recently been remodeling the whole store, so the inside is at least looking a little newer/nicer these days. Breakdown of quality/prices for a few things: Meat (pork, beef, etc) - I've found the meat at Kroger is generally good quality and reasonably priced (some of the thick cut pork chops that I've gotten have been especially good). I've even found some harder-to-find items like ground lamb and buffalo. Poultry - The chicken is pretty low quality (beware of a lot that have up to 15% chicken broth added) and overpriced compared to HEB or Arlans at like $3.50/lb. They have a large selection of Jennie-O ground turkey products, which is nice when trying to eat healthier. Breakfast Cereal - Decent prices and wide selection. Beer and Wine - Decent selection of some craft brews, but not as good as HEB's selection. Wine selection and prices are good in a pinch on a Sunday when Spec's is closed. Pantry Items - Kroger's pretty good for these as they have a wide selection and the prices are usually competitive with stores like Walmart. Produce - I've always been "meh" on Kroger's produce...a lot of times, it's hit or miss on freshness and quality. Keep an eye out for "Manager's Specials" on things like salad mix if you need something for that night only and want to save a few bucks (and don't care if it's not at peak freshness). Overall though, I try to avoid getting most produce at Kroger if possible. Bakery Items - the few times that I've gotten the fresh bread, I've been decently impressed. Nothing too special, but good for grocery store bread. Specialty items (cheeses, hummus, etc) - OK selection, but pretty high prices compared to some other stores in the area. Dairy - Good prices on Kroger milk (on sale a lot of times) and good dates. I found that they have split the Greek yogurt between both the dairy area and the produce area now, with different brands in different spots (Fage, for example, is located in the produce area). Definitely confusing!! A few weeks ago, I traded in a propane tank at this Kroger since they had a pretty low price on it. When I paid for it at the register, the girl told me somebody would meet me outside to take my old one and give me the new one. Well, I waited outside for over 5 minutes and nobody came out. I eventually had to go back inside to get someone to come out, and when they finally did, it took another 5 minutes of digging through the cages to actually pull out a full tank (it seemed like almost all of them were empty). This was pretty frustrating... This Kroger is pretty convenient to me and mostly gets the job done for a lot of groceries, but it definitely has a lot of room for improvement. read more

This store has gone so far down hill. I can not justify shopping here when I can save 60-80$/wk at Walmart and HEB. Even though it's within walking distance I choose to travel a couple miles to avoid the headaches, by that I mean flys on produce, strange smells in certain isles. (For fun you should kneel down and look at what's on the floor under the isles.) now they've started blaring specials over the P.A. Like they're doing a sham-wow commercial spoof. At least last year you could get a decent prices through their coupon circulars, but even that has ended. I wish corporate would do a little work here and bring this place in line with their competition. If it were not for their meat department I would never be back. The Share your Christmas committee would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the exemplary help we received from some of the Kroger employees. The employees assisted us in ringing up and loading multiple baskets of groceries for some of the less fortunate children in Seabrook. The employees provide excellent customer service. They were helpful and patient while we finished getting all the groceries. They were efficient and not only served us well but thought ahead on how best to process several baskets loaded with items in a way that did not block or slow down other customers. Clearly it is employees like these that make this Seabrook Kroger an amazing store. read more

Disgusting bakery. Last year I encountered gnats and other insects in their donut display case and in their bolillo display case next to meats. This happened over multiple weeks. The capper came when I discovered dead insects inside the bagged bolillos. I brought this to the attention of store management several times. I contacted county health inspectors for assistance. The bakery removed all those items before the inspectors arrived. Fast forward to TODAY. I witnessed a dead insect on its back in the bolillo display case, others flying around. I told the deli worker that assured me the bakery would be told for disposal. I came back hours later because I forgot several items. To my astonishment, the contaminated bolillos were still in the bins! As I walked to the backside of the store and glanced the bagged bolillos on clearance, my heart nearly stopped. In a bag of about 8-10 rolls, bagged IN STORE, I saw a live insect walking around the inside of the tied bag, another dead one crushed on the side of a roll. Where the hell is the quality control. I noted this to a worker who wanted to take the bag. I replied no, I'm takes a photo and video before confronting today's store manager. This guy was a relative new hire and red-faced when I showed him the contents. This is still happening at the Seabrook Kroger Store. Again, disgusting!!!! I even have this as a video clip. I have shopped at this kroger for about 3 years now and always had a great experience. I usually come in later anywhere from 9pm to close. I always use the self checkout and usually there was a very nice young lady working with brown curly hair and glasses. She was ALWAYS so helpful and never seemed to be annoyed if there were elderly people that needed help or if I accidentally rang something up twice. She was more than happy to help and ALWAYS close by. I don't know where she went but I wish she would come back. The new night person COREY, he is so very rude if you need assistance he has no problem showing his annoyance by sighing loudly, rolling his eyes, and grunting. I am floored that he does this to customers right to their face. I have worked customer service many years and I have to say I have sighed and rolled my eyes before too IN THE BREAKROOM! Not only does he blatantly show his disdain for anyone who tears him away from his phone, which he has out everytime I have ever seen him, his appearance is very unprofessional. I would bet my house that kroger store employees are not allowed to be on their phone on the floor. He appears disheveled shirt no where near tucked in. He basically looks like he rolls out of bed kicked a pile of laundry and put on whatever work shirt flew out of the pile. His attitude is absolutely unacceptable for customer service. I really hope this review somehow reaches upper management at this store. No customer should EVER have to stand there waiting for help unnoticed for a long period of time then when you are finally noticed (mind you I and others just stood there patiently waiting) you are treated as if you have ruined this man's night because he has to check your ID or void an item off or give you the correct change. I have lived a lot of places around the U.S. and have shopped at a lot of Kroger stores and other grocery store chains. This is by the far the worst grocery store, I have ever encountered. Their produce is horrible and now they have begun to engage in deceitful advertising practices. Over the past few weeks, I have caught several cash register mistakes vs. the advertised price. We have been shopping at this place since 1988. Recently, I have been noticing lot of mistakes in terms of price check outs at the counter. For example, an item (vegetables or fruits, etc) listed for sale are charged at the original price at the counter. This happened to me several times. I go to the customer counter and complain about it and they say it is a mistake. Normally, if this sort of thing happens on Wednesday or Thursday,(sale starts on Wednesday) I can rationalize saying that may be the check out counters are not programmed with the right prices. If this happens on a Sunday or Monday, there is something really wrong with the system. This seems to be systemic problem. You better watch out at the check out counter. Even if they over charge 50 cents per visit, it is lot of money. read more
