1st. I am tired of getting harassed by the Spectrum people every time I walk in. Spectrum doesn't come to my house and I just want to get my groceries. 2nd - my digital coupons did not come off. I had to go to customer service ( who was very nice and very helpful) to get that taken care of. 3rd - DO NOT have items that are not the price that are on the sign next to the sign. This location is convenient and there is plenty of parking. I am not a fan of Kroger and that will not change. I have gone here a few times when I needed am ingredient, but that is it. The inside is clean and tends to be well stocked, but personally I believe it is overpriced. Some of the employees are friendly, but not all of them. The Starbucks employees act like they resent their jobs and aren't friendly. The only time they actually speak to you is when you are ordering and they act like you are bothering them. The drive thru pharmacy dumbfounds me daily and although I have never used it, I still drive by it daily and there is at least one line wrapped around the building sometimes two. Seeing this guarantees I wouldn't ever use the pharmacy here. In general I simply don't understand why this location is so bad and that management doesn't see it and fix it. read more

Lots of love for my local Kroger! They keep the store nice and clean, have great fresh and organic selections, and I have never had any issues with the pharmacy. I will go to this Kroger over others in the area, even if it's out of the way from my route. They are active in participating with community events and during the summer will have staff grilling out ribs, to purchase of course;) They do it right for all the holidays and I can always find something special for my wife and kids here. Even on super busy days the staff is great about keeping the lines short, helping folks check out, and making sure the store looks acceptable. There is a little clinic, pharmacy, jewelry store, clothing section, home improvement area, deli, great fresh cuts of steak and other options, a Starbucks, huge cheese selection, lots of organic options, and a little spot to get $5 meals and family meals to eat right there. Overall, I like going to this Kroger over most all its competitors. The only thing stoping me from 5* are young employees complaining about their job and talking to each other instead of having positive interactions with the customer. This has recently become something I'm noticing only because I usually self check out and have had to go to registers more because of larger grocery count. (My kids want to eat more the bigger they get, go figure ‍). I don't find this issue to be true for all employees, the majority are accommodating and have walked me across the store to help me find things. I hope this is something that will resolve soon for me to move it back to a 5* review :) read more

If you are thinking of using Kroger as your pharmacy; consider this... When our regular major chain pharmacy ceased operations in our area, we moved all our family prescriptions to the Kroger Pharmacy in Independence, KY. After putting up with ongoing prescription fulfillment issues for years now, today was the last straw! When their automated Rx refill by phone system failed to provide the correct information, I stayed on the line to speak with a pharmacy technician. Unfortunately, instead of listening, the technician kept interrupting by telling me what I already knew, as opposed to waiting to hear the problem. Finally, out of frustration I asked her to "Please just stop interrupting me and listen to the problem!" So, she hung up. Apparently, this pharmacy would rather allow the wrong prescriptions to be filled by their automated system, than to listen to a customer explain the issue in an effort to head off a costly prescription medication error. read more

My complaint is regarding price labeling... almost 100% of the time when I shop in Independence, KY store, there are NO prices on the counter breads, the fresh ones... baguettes, specialty loafs, etc. No prices, no purchase... I go elsewhere. This has also been happening the last few months in the packaged vegetable wall of lettuce, etc. Again, no prices, no purchase. And try to find someone to get a price! Even more a challenge... Although I did get help one day from someone in fresh seafood on un-priced items in a bunker. It seems the problem is spreading here now. Please, PLEASE do BETTER! I love the store, but am giving nearby stores more attention. read more

BEWARE using Kroger Independence pharmacy. My daughter was only given HALF of her prescription last Sunday. When I talked to them about it today Ashley the pharmacist blamed it on the techs 'not being educated' (her words) and being able to read dosing info - EVEN THOUGH - I told them we always get 2 bottles and not 1 of the medication. YES - even a pharmacist double checked this last Sunday when I asked about it a second time! Now my daughter is so sick she can't get off the couch and is missing way more school than she should be. They apologized. And apology when any medication filled incorrectly can be DEADLY. But don't worry - they said they would talk to the tech who released this! UNACCEPTABLE! I will be taking this up the chain. Seems like they are all uneducated and CLEARLY uneducated people shouldn't be dishing out meds. Oh and she blamed me for not calling on Friday to clear this up....so sorry I was dealing with 2 kids that had the worst stomach bug I've ever seen and didn't realize I had to do their job too. read more

On the best days, staff is friendly and attentive, the place is clean and generally family friendly. On the bad day the place can look like a mess, especially the Starbucks seating area which was so dirty one day I hardly wanted to take a seat. read more

We like shopping at the grocery part of this store but the pharmacy is THE WORST! They never answer the phone, the wait time is excruciatingly long, & most of the staff are rude & incompetent. Independence Kroger wake up & fix your pharmacy or you will lose customers. I think everyone in the pharmacy should be replaced with people who actually work & care about their jobs. The horrible pharmacy has turned what would have been a pleasant shopping experience into a nightmare you never want to repeat! read more

I'm a huge Publix fan but being in Kentucky that had to change. Kroger is top notch and I think Publix could take some pointers. Definitely in love with being able to test different cheeses being a huge cheese lover and even more in love with the salad bar. read more

The Kroger in Independence, Ky. is great. Employees are always friendly and helpful. Product is always in ample supply and easy to be found. This Kroger was a great step-up to the previous version as now there is the availability of a lot better produce and fruits, a sushi bar, olive and cheese bar, and some other offerings. At one point, it was the largest within the tri-state area but that has now changed. Knowing that the Oakley store now has craft beer taps, makes me think, how about some Kentucky love. Great employees here as well which are willing to help and the craft beer selection has been improving. read more

It's new and large. From what I hear, it's one of the better ones in the area. The Starbucks inside is a little lackluster though, I hope they make improvements on that. They didn't know what I ordered, and partly is probably because we are from Seattle and call drinks and some food different things than here, I have come to find out. Anyway, it's our go-to place, but I hope they upgrade and maintain the pre-made hot foods and cold foods soon. It was really unappetizing to look at. The Independence Kroger Marketplace is my choice of supermarkets in the area. Their excellent staff always goes out of the way to get what you need. Their deli, butcher, and bakery centers are the best of the area's Kroger Marketplaces. The cheese counter always has fresh samples out. Michelle in the butcher shop has samples of their in-house prepared specialties for taste testing as well. read more

I do not appreciate while I am in the Kroger at Independence-Store#475--- to pick up a few items in the morning; The Alarm Announcement goes off as to say: "Security- Camera's Please scan aisle C", when I get to checkout, I ask the store associate which aisle is aisle C? The associate showed me that it was the aisle you just left, I thought hummm--- that same announcement came on as soon as I was on an aisle my last visit in the morning at this Kroger store, As I shared with the store Manager: Chris, I do not care if the announcements are Logistics, systematic, or automatic, I do Not Appreciate going into a Kroger store, and being made to feel as though I have been mistaken for someone else, it is unacceptable; and I will not stop complaining until they change their security logistics, I know many relatives and friends who live in the area who would gladly take their business elsewhere if this continues. First let me say this just a review of the pharmacy at this Kroger. I went to pick up prescriptions for my wife that the doctor submitted early that morning. I wait in the drive thru line for about 20 minutes. I finally get to the window and the technician says she'll be with me in a couple of minutes and proceeds to work on the stack of paper prescriptions the customer in front of me dropped off. Finally she asks for the prescription info. She says they only have 1 ready because the other is a maintenance prescription which I have no idea what that even means because the doctor called theses in earlier in the morning because my wife was injured and in pain. She then tells me to go to the back of the drive thru line and they would get it filled. I told her that wasn't right and I wasn't going to the back of the line and I would just wait there. She went and got the pharmacist and I asked him if he could just go get the prescription and he said he wouldn't do that. He said either I moved or he was going to call the police on me. I asked why and said all I wanted was my wife's prescriptions. He then again he would call the police on me if I didn't either go to the end of the drive thru line or come inside. So I said I would come in so I could also talk to the store manager about this. By the time I parked and walked inside, probably only about 90 seconds he already had the prescription ready. So in the amount of time they spent giving me grief he could have filled it in the first place. The manager gave me some lip service and said that wasn't the store policy by any means and she would speak to the head store manager about it and then talk to the pharmacist and his manager about it. My children and I came to our local Kroger that we've shopped at for the last nine years. I told my oldest two who are 10 and 11 that they could walk to Starbucks together to get them coffee drinks. On the way back they were harassed and followed but a female associate from one end of the store to other who tried to tell them to go to customer service to get a mask. They told her they don't talk to strangers and they needed to find their mom. She followed them to me where she told us that we needed to wear masks to shop. I then told her we are medically exempt where then she kept harassing me and my children. She was not wearing her mask over her mouth or nose as she tried to impose the mask order. We told her at that point that we were leaving Kroger. This was the Kroger on Declaration Dr. in Independence. There was dozens of customers not wearing masks in the store and my children and I were singled out. I don't feel comfortable shopping at this location anymore. It's a shame because it's been our favorite Kroger for almost a decade. read more

Just like any large retail store, they aren't perfect by any means, but this is by far my favorite Kroger to shop! They really need a lot more staff (from what I hear, they keep hiring but people don't show up to work for training) so maybe corporate should boost starting pay. The employees they do have are amazing and have become like family in a lot of instances, as I usually shop most of their "markets" each week. Also, they actually listen to your suggestions! I've asked them to order more of items before (once heavy cream, once protein shakes) because I noticed that from week to week they would run out despite getting trucks all the time, and both times they increased the ordering amount. It's still hard to find these items sometimes, but there is usually at least one item there and you can tell when they get trucks that they've doubled how much they order. Also, there was a different variety of a snack food (lentil crisps and pea crisps) that a friend found at a different Kroger. I mentioned it to the produce manager, and sure enough, the product started to be carried two weeks later! read more
