The store was clean and well lit& they were stocking items as we shopped. One of the things that caught my eye was the produce department. They have fruits I've never even heard of. I love lychee and they have it. I did end up with a prickly pear which I've heard of but never had. Meijer is the only place I can find turkey sweet Italian sausage without spending an arm and a leg. They also had the unsweetened organic banana milk I was looking for. The bakery is actually nicer then other grocery stores and the cakes looked really good. What caught me up was the donut case which is definitely nicer then others. You can find everything from home goods to pet supplies, clothing and everything else in between including a pharmacy . They also like kroger do the rewards card program. I got red and green bell peppers today for a 1.00 a piece can't complain about that. Its also the only grocery store I can find the dark chocolate milky way. They were 7 for 7 today.

Funny enough, we have MORE fun shopping at Aldi, talking to other patrons and then figuring out what our bill would have been elsewhere. Let me just say - we are saving between 40-60% off our previous grocery bill. It's truly shocking. It's more fun than the Target Dollar Spot! We still have the occasional Costco run, but even some of our Costco staples are cheaper at Aldi! Now, if only I can remember a quarter and all my reusable bags!

She's particularly fond of German cookies so every Christmas season I go and buy her a bunch of German cookies. They also had frozen apple strudel which I probably should have gotten. They have the Kringle too. They have beef schnitzel but I was looking for pork which I didn't see unfortunately. I did end up with some cooca dusted truffles and dark chocolate covered marshmallows as well. In the Aldi's "find" isle they had some really nice gifting ideas. Such as a fairly thick blanket but it wasn't what I was looking for. The sled candles were super cute as well.

Lexington finally has an IGA. Not that IGAs are well known or a preferred grocer, but they're…read morecommon in more rural areas. Honestly, I'm surprised they opened one here. After all, Lexington has been rough on grocery stores. You know, after the short run of Luckys and Fresh Tyme. I guess we prefer to eat out over grocery shopping. This is a small neighborhood grocery. When you see it, from the corner or Citation Blvd and Leestown Road, it looks like an oversized gas station. There is a Shell station attached to it, but it's bigger than it appears at first glance. There's also a Which Wich location inside, which will also have a drive thru, but it's not open now. They have a pretty big selection of beer, in the Beer Cave cooler. Right now, they're running buy one get one free specials on the rotisserie chickens, chicken salad made from rotisserie chicken, and fresh cut fruit. The sale/specials signs are displayed outside, near the entrance. I love that feature, because it means we don't have to grab an ad to see what's on sale. I hope they keep that feature. The chicken salad was fantastic! It will definitely be one of my staple items. The soft serve ice cream machine is also a welcomed feature, especially since the neighborhood McDonalds' soft serve machine is never working. That's besides the pint though, I know. The checkout process is weird. The don't have checkout lanes, it's one big check out counter, with several cashiers. There's no real start of a line, or any indication where to wait for the next available cashier. When I was there, no one was in line, so I stood in the middle, away from the counter and the cashier called for me. I asked her what the line process is, but she didn't have an answer. I guess we will eventually figure it out.

Inside I would be greeted many times by the friendly employees from different departments each trip I was there because they are so friendly and so care about you! The environment is will kept clean and organized! The sub was always a plus for the quality and the value! Sometimes I would choose BOGO items for the great deal! It's a joy to shopping at this Publix!

This is the newest Dollar General Store in Winchester, KY. It is kind of located on the other side…read moreof downtown on the way to Irvine. It is the perfect location for those times you don't want to go across town to pick up salt or something quick. In that case, it is really handy location. The store itself is usually fairly clean, but the isles are a bit tight and compact. The staff here seem friendly, but don't talk to much at all to the shoppers that stay into shop. I have only bought light bulbs and disinfectant here the few times I have stopped in. This store like other Dollar General Stores they carry a wide variety of items from clothing items, lawn/garden, can goods, dairy, just to name a few. Stop in and take a look around or run here when you don't want to run to the other side of town. it is really handy.
