My family and I recently visited Krogers on Booneville. In Bryan, Tx. And an associate by the name of Shirley an older Caucasian lady was working the self check. My son which is 23 showed her his ID to purchase some beer. She refused to sell it to him due to my 22 year old niece was with him. She said it is the law for both people to show their Id when purchasing. But right after that I went to the store to purchase it with my ID. She refused to sell it to me cause they were with me. But three Students walked up with beer and wine coolers. She only asked one to show his ID and the other two didn't. But yet they purchased the stuff and went on . The manager on duty said all parties had to show id. But we go in there all the time and no one has ever ask my son or niece to show their id when I purchase beer. So I think there is some racism some where with this lady Shirley. And shortly after that my sister went in and purchased it. She did not ID her at all. She said she assume you are of age. read more

Free wifi that reaches the parking lot and something delicious for lunch. I took a couple of work meetings from a shady spot in the parking area and then popped in to the store to see what I might have today. The store is quite large and the parking lot is large. Clean and tidy, with empty cart corrals and no loose trash. The interior of the store is well lit and well organized. Lots of associates rushing about or tending their work areas with no line at the checkout area. Walking through the deli, I picked out one of yesterday's rotisserie chickens that is now served cold and at half price. A full chicken for $4? You bet! Some cheese to go with it and now I have a keto-friendly lunch with leftovers for dinner. Kroger bought the Harris-Teeter chain a couple of years ago so my VIC number works and I earned a couple fuel points on today's purchase. I came out to my car and there were more birds there than... well no, there's no comparison that's accurate to illustrate how many frigging birds there were. Hands down worst grocery store have ever been in my life! Went pickup my prescriptions that were suppose have been ready days ago and they still were not filled. 15 days post open heart surgery these meds are essential in my recovery. When questioned about the delays no one would help and later was called told they would not fill my medications at all. Facing recovery now with no medications till Monday at earliest! what great store! read more

The day before Christmas Eve are you crazy to go to Krogers. It was very busy people being themselves rude and selfish. Saw a non-handicap person parked in a handicap spot just cause he needed dog food. Lady tried to run me and husband down just because she was impatient. Okay you get what I'm saying..... it was a bad idea to go to Krogers today. Picked up all our items we needed and went to check out. WOW there we cashiers waiting for people to come to their station. Husband picked a cashier and as soon as he started putting our groceries on the belt she looked with a smile "how are you today? " Her and I carried on a wonderful conversation while she scanned our items. It this young lady was amazing and it made our trip to Krogers fantastic after all. Her name is India and if you are ever in Krogers and she is a cashier I suggest go to her lane. Thank you India for such a wonderful ending to a terrible beginning. I've been a Kroger customer for decades. I've used the pick-up service many times, and have always been pleased. Today, though, I received my first delivery order and the experience was awful. I expected there to be items that would need to be substituted. What I wasn't expecting was there to be ZERO COMMUNICATION during the entire transaction. Okay, I did get 18 text messages (no joke -- 1 message for each item that needed to be substituted, but no mention of what the shopper was choosing to replace the item with!) The shopper didn't even knock on the door when she had finished dropping the items off outside my apartment! The whole thing would have easily been fixed with a simple phone call so I could approve substitutions. But instead, I received and was charged for over $40 worth of items that I can't use, including $20 of cat food my cat won't eat! The other thing I didn't get: a receipt! Not even the most basic communication you should always get in a grocery store, proof of purchase! So I have no way to take things back either. Be forewarned on the delivery service. This store is so screwed up and the manager doesn't care either. The customer service guy Brandon talks to you like some kid . This store screws everyone over buy marking things on sale and then says oh it's only a certain kind even when the crappy little sign says it's on sale. I will drive all the way across town before I ever step into another Kroger again . I will be taking all my over priced groceries that they got me on back in the morning. This Kroger Signature anchors the shopping center at Boonville Rd. & Hwy. 6, just south of the Premiere theaters. It is laid out very similarly to the Rock Prairie Kroger Signature store. when I arrived I grabbed a shopping cart, but soon thought I'd only buy a couple items. Then I spotted something I'd been seeking for a week and a half. Pepsi Throwback, made with real sugar: Its slated to be on distributed until June 15. Well its not Kroger's fault that this Pepsi just plain sucks. As for the rest of the store, they have a decent meat dept., although its combined with a pathetic attempt at a seafood dept., a pretty good beer cooler, but lame selection in the soup aisle, and fewer hot sauces than the Rock Prairie Kroger. Also, they have fewer coffee brands than other stores in the area. Their produce dept. is nearly identical to toe R.P. Kroger, and is about equivalent to Albertsons', but looks nicer. All in all a decent store, but not as good as any of the local H-E-B locations. Not really worth driving out of the way for. read more

I don't know what is happening at this Kroger store on Boonville or who the manager is there, but this place leaves a lot to be desired. I have found many outdated items on the shelves in this store and know not to just pick up something and putting it in my cart without looking at the experation date. The selection of products is not great either and the vegetable section is very poor and limited in veriety and often veggies are past their prime. Food is not cheap and I expect top notch produce when ever I need to buy some. I used to spend a lot of money in this place but I no longer do so, I prefer HEB now because they have a great selection of everything, including produce and fruit, plus all their produce is fresh. read more

The senior citizen discount was stopped due to a lack of enforcement resulting in those that would normally not qualify for the discount getting it, and now 9 times out of 10 I get to bag my own groceries if I want to get through the line in a reasonable manner. When I have not bagged my own groceries I am usually met with a less than pleasant cashier. It has become an increasingly bad experience, each time building upon the previous visit. I am to the point that I will gladly choose other grocery stores especially since Krogers seems to think about the dollar and not about the customer who brings in that dollar read more

I used to shop here exclusively because it's close to my home. Now I only stop if I need something that I forgot at H-E-B. Produce is ALWAYS horrible. Selection is meh, and the prices actually are terrible compared to H-E-B. Also the people aren't nearly as friendly. Definitely have had issues trying to deal with employees there. We shopped at the Southwest Parkway location since we moved here because it was walking distance from our apartment, but since it closed we either drive to Boonville/Bryan or to Rock Prairie location. I like the selection here, especially the Simple Truth Organic brand. Also, employees are usually friendly & helpful. My only complaint is that many items ring up higher than advertised, requiring a long wait in line at customer service desk to get refund. Although lately it seems there have been less problems with that so maybe they are working on improving. Managers have been helpful in the past. read more

I prefer this place over HEB. That being said where are all the cashiers? Why do I have to wait for ten minutes in line at 11pm at night or 3pm or whatever time I come in. Also, not everyone wants to use self checkout. Especially when there is no one there to help when it doesn't work. read more

This Kroger serves as a nice counterpoint to the big Bryan HEB, and in many ways offers a better shopping experience. The two have a similar clientele; tired, depressed looking, beaten-down downscale folks seem to comprise the majority. Don't come here if you are depressed...the tired, haggard, downcast faces of other customers won't help. The store is also mobbed during prime working hours, implying that unemployed poors form a very large part of the customer base here. But on to the good. Unlike the Bryan HEB, the store is nicely laid out, bright, and less "Walmarty." The store just plain looks nice, compared to HEB. The seafood section has improved, and the meats section is nicely laid out. Produce section is very good, and the prepared foods section seems just a little more appealig than the HEB one. One thing that really stood out for me was the large amount of frozen, and dried/canned foods or entire meals for healthy lifestyle people. In fact there is an entire freezer section of this that is pretty damn big, and quite a few aisles devoted to healthy food items. This is the thing that may draw me back here more regularly. Wine and beer selection is good...easily the equal of the Bryan HEB, though not the two College Station ones. read more

Shopping here for all my grocery needs is a breeze. I usually go when the lines are short, so it's always easy to get out. Cashiers and courtesy clerks have always been very nice. Everything seems to be well organized and stocked. Very well run store. read more

I live less than 3 minutes from this location! I regularly go to another chain, but just needed a few things and the weather was bad so thought I would try again...first of all the parking lot gives me anxiety-- it is not designed well at all! Then you enter the store, they do have a variety of things, kind of pricey, but again I was there for just a couple of quick things. Once to the check out I waited in line forever....they cashier was checking people out and on her phone at the same time---going soooooo very slow. Then it was my turn, I was surprised that I had someone to bag my groceries this time...(a plus since my order this time as SO much smaller than last, where I had to not only bag my own groceries but catch them as they were tossed to me by the checker). My checker and sacker must have been best buds- they were carrying on a conversation as if no one else was there, stopping to show each other pictures on their phone ect... I was two seconds to walking off and just leaving my order. When the cashier was done checking she turned to me and said how you gonna pay? I clearly had my debit card and had already entered my pin-- it was clearly on her.. I just pointed to my card and she said--"well you coulda said somethin'." She put my receipt in one of my bags--whew the experience is now over! So to say the least, I will not be returning to this chain. EVER! read more

If you are looking for the perfect store to purchase your groceries the Rock Prairie road Kroger is the best in town. They have some of the best people working there I have seen in a long time. So I hardly ever get the chance to go Krogering since San Antonio has only HEB's and Austin has only HEB's and Randalls but I figured why not come here during my short CS trip to get a few snacks and gas. This is definitely an awesome grocery store better than about 95% of the HEB's I have ever been to in SA and ATX and on par with the excellence that is Randalls. Although I have to give the overall edge to Randalls. I can't live without Safeway Select Ice Cream!! I had a Kroger club card from when I was in Dallas so I didn't need to get one. Like Randalls they have excellent gas rewards but unlike Randalls you cannot stack your rewards and they only rollover for one month while Randalls Power Pump Rewards rollover for about 3 and a half month periods. Either way it's always nice to have another option to get gas and groceries then the tyrant that is Wal-Mart and WEB, or excuse me HEB. Also I saw that CS still has an Albertsons, man am I jealous of the selection of stores here! Damn SA with HEB and their monopoly there. So all in all Kroger better then HEB and Wal-Mart, but just right under the greatness that is Randalls. read more

I've been shopping at this Kroger for one year. The staff is friendly and the prices are cheaper when comparing to HEB. I wouldn't get your meat selection here but everything else seems great. For additional saving I recommend the Kroger card! It has great discounts on gas. read more

My family has been in the grocery business in years past and it pains me to see baskets strewn all over the four corners of the Kroger center. I know the expense of each basket is in the hundreds and in recent weeks I've called to report a basket at the Austin's Colony entrance on Boonville. Just today I stopped management to report it still being there. I know the loss will eventually show up on the price paid at the store. Patrons please take the time and return the baskets to the collection areas. read more

We were thrilled when a new supermarket opened on the north side of Bryan since we live in Calvert. Now no need to travel all the way into "town" for groceries. Until the past weekend, we were very happy with the quality of the produce and meat. Friday we purchased salmon and drove the 20 miles back to Calvert only to discover the next day when we planned to cook it, that it was spoiled--very fishy smelling. If we lived closer, we would have returned it, but we just froze it and threw it in the trash on garbage day! Very disappointed. read more

this is sad. apparently this retailer thinks they can violate all the consumer protection laws because of political turmoil. there are meats without weight labels, but a flat price. there is pork that has been "enhanced" with preservatives without being labelled. there are fruit and vegetable bins without prices. products are placed on shelves without prices. and that's just the start. read more

Hands down the worst pharmacy I have ever been to. I leave my doctors office and head straight there to wait on my prescription and to check to see that the coupons I have work. Nathan, the pharmacy tech who was wearing an extremely wrinkled shirt checked on the computer to verify. He told me that they do work and that it will take approximately 30 minutes to fill both scripts. While im waiting, im watching another pharmacy tech chewing his food while assisting another customer. The pharmacist is also eating, while filling customers prescriptions. An hour later he tells me that my medicine is on back order and that it is a normal occurrence. I do not understand how difficult it is to check before asking me to wait, especially being that it is a "normal occurrence." Nathan had also just finished doing an order for which they waited till the last minute, from what I over heard. So it frustrated me to no end when he told me that he could order the meds "tomorrow" and they will get in a week from now. The lack of organisation and the unprofessional behavior from all of the staff working today is completely unacceptable. read more

I would give this store FIVE stars if it wasn't for the supervisors/management. I shop at this store frequently, from 2-3 times a week, and I like this store. But, I have witnessed far too many times the supervisors treatment of their employees and customers. One individual, Deadra(?), which is supposed to be a supervisor, talks to the employees as if they were trash and I've seen her standing there with her cell phone texting. (Does management really think that this looks professional for a supervisor to constantly do her 'personal' business in front of customers?) She has been my checker a few times and has stopped in the middle to answer a text. REALLY? Once, one of the checkers (she may have been in training, really sweet person) asked her a question about a product (the customer asked the checker). She SNAPPED at the checker, "WELL how should I know?" and mumbled something. I was AMAZED at the tone in her voice and she was my checker . It was awful and a SUPERVISOR? She obviously has to have some friend there that HAS to take care of her for HER not to lose her job. I am suprised that there haven't been complaints about her from employees. read more

When I went to this store, I was not expecting much out of the staff. Most of them seemed disinterested in their jobs, and this and the lack of selection throughout the store put me in just an awful mood. I was also experiencing a heavy amount of diarrhear at the time, and this weighed heavy on my mind (and in my shorts). I was hurrying to get out when I stopped by the pharmacy to pick out some diarrhear medicine, and make the excellent choice of asking the pharmacy for help....and boy let me tell you, the staff there might be the nicest, best looking pharmacy staff in these greater United States. In fact the pharmacist there was so good looking and knowledgeable, I almost passed out (in my diarrhea shorts, mind you). The staff kept calling him JB-40 and The Results, for some reason...But I didn't mind because he was just so darned handsome. I will be back for sure, and hopefully The Results will be in... read more
