This place was honestly gross. From the second I walked in, it felt dirty and outdated. The entrance doors were cloudy, like they haven't been cleaned in forever, and the floors were filthy -- they seriously need a deep clean. I wasn't even there for five minutes before I wanted to leave. Then at checkout, the cashier told me to put my groceries on the belt, but said it wasn't working and pointed to another spot. That area was so dirty I refused to put my food there. I told her it needed to be cleaned, and she didn't say a word. I ended up handing her my items just so I didn't have to touch it. That was it for me. I will never go back. I've already started going to Plum Market across the street, and it's a night-and-day difference. read more

I loaded Yelp just to be able to read and now write a review of the Maple and Lahser Kroger. We live 1/2 mile away, so, it's our "go to" grocery store. In short, it's a dump. Surly workers. Not all (Andy and Clark are great). Many times there are no cashiers. Carts are out in parking lot. Aisles and shelves are un stocked. Today (and for the past couple weeks), the dairy/milk section is closed and a few items have shifted over to the refrigerated beer section. The yogurts were almost completely out. What is going on? My biggest complaint is no cashiers and checking out my groceries while an employee watches me and then thanks me. Management, are you reading these reviews? This area deserves so much better at this corner. Go over to the Nino Salvaggio at Maple and Telegraph to see a well run store. It would not surprise me if this store is on the way out. We had to enter from the register side, we were yelled at twice by this woman outside "the other door", we were headed by the produce doors, we didn't realize she worked there until she yelled at us second time. The store looked like it was about to close, it wasn't even 10pm, they are open until midnight. The freezer, deli, cheese and produce areas were shut off, only left lighted up were the main aisle and overhead lights. At least we got all of the quick items we needed. read more

I hate to leave bad reviews but man, oh man. The full-time deli/prepared foods lady is such a nightmare. I've had to deal with her countless times for deli meat in the past and 100% of the time she turns her back after making eye contact. She pretends to be busy - most recently by folding and unfolding a rag for 4 solid minutes - until I say hello a few times. 50% of the time she tells me to check the pre-cut meats in the cooler before I "have her pulling out the same meat for no reason." Today I went in for some lunch from the prepared foods (chicken tenders) and she pulled the same crap but leveled up by literally leaving her work station all together. I asked a manager for help. Her response: "you can't wait for her to come back and help you?" I ended up getting a stale donut and left. read more

This is a mismanaged store period. There are many times not one lane is open and a full cart of groceries would have to go to U-scan ? The employees here have attitudes, a few times I've been in a cashier lane with the light off but employee standing and I ask "will this be open ?" I get a "you didn't tell me good morning" or some crap like that. They removed the cart returns several months ago and it was all downhill from there. Half the parking spaces are full of abandon carts. The produce is consistently limp and soggy. This store continues to get worse and worse. I went to pick up some dry goods for Thanksgiving, which is still a couple weeks away. There was no aluminum foil anywhere. No stuffing mix. A sparse selection of off-size Ziploc bags. Aisles are mislabeled - there's actually an aisle marked for "Foil" but not a roll can be found there or anywhere in the store. There are huge swaths of empty shelves. It's obvious this store is on the chopping block and they aren't even trying anymore, hoping to coast through the holidays to sell off what little they have on hand before shuttering it. This is a mistake: it's hurting their reputation as a chain. I left in disgust, unable to find anything on my list despite traversing all aisles, some more than once. I went to another Kroger location about 3 miles away - they had everything on hand, so it's not like there's some shortage of merchandise. Only a shortage of concern and pride. Will avoid forever. Well, I'm done with this store. From getting slow service at the seafood counter, asking me (I'm 60)to take off my mask instead of asking for ID (before vaccine were available) because I was buying wine, getting yelled at by a cashier when I handed her my Kroger card and my hand went to far past the plastic shield for her taste and so proceeded to yell, get your hand back behind the shield and "Geezus" at me. Well today I was checking out and a gentleman before me started putting his groceries on the conveyor belt. There were a couple of products that weren't moving because they were stuck on the metal part before the conveyor belt, so I pushed them forward and the cashier yells and says don't touch those. She thought I was shoving his stuff forward so I could put my groceries on the belt. I explained to her that a couple products were stuck and I was helping them along. Instead of saying oh or I'm sorry, she doubled down, so I told her she was being rude. When I got up to the counter she walk away and another cashier came over to ring my groceries. I'm going to do my shopping at Plum from now on. Plum is more expensive, but they give much better customer service. read more

If I could leave negative stars, I would! This is the third time I've been to the store I will never go back. There was a 20 person line just to check out. So you grocery shop and then have to wait for 30 minutes just to check out and pay. They have one cashier open and only two self checkouts. It makes no sense! Do not shop here. read more

I went to the Kroger on Maple and Lahser for a bottle of wine. I am 62 years old and have a compromised immune system. I am.considered high risk for covid-19. As a result I wear a mask and gloves. I supplied my ID. The manager of the store refused to sell me the wine if I did not remove my mask. I pointed out I did not want to risk it, I look over 21 and I showed my ID. They were extremely rude and clearly show no respect for aged customers at risk. read more

I have a positive and two negatives for this Kroger. The negative is just the other day I needed three balloons blown up by the person by the flowers. Well I got there and the woman filling the balloons was working on a very large super hero one, and she couldn't figure it out. Instead of being helped by someone else (via her calling someone or someone walking by), I was forced to wait at least ten minutes for my two minute item. My second negative is I do a lot of bottle returns, and the bins always say that they are full and I need to call for help. Luckily, one of the employees showed me how to continue going, but it's still frustrating because I end with twenty tickets. My positive is the man who works in the food serving area. I don't recall his name, but he works most days around 10am. He recognizes me and my friends every time we go in, he talks to us, asks us about sports and school, and he works quickly. He always wishes us a nice day/week, and he is overall a joy to see in the middle of day. I really appreciate an adult being so kind to a bunch of high schoolers, and it really brightens my day. I always want this Kroger to be better than it is. Don't get me wrong - the people are so nice!! I love the staff here. And they have a great wine selection that's better than a lot of Kroger's I've been too. But the store is always kind of dirty and under stocked. This place is a dump! The selves are empty. The floor is dirty. The check-out lanes are self serve but I pay the same price. The employees try but the odds are stacked against them. They just took out a couple of checkout lanes to add 6 more small self-checkout stations. So be aware if you're not keen on checking yourself out. Or if you're going to buy a lot of stuff. Shop there since 5 years about 3x/week at around 8 am out of convenience. Accepting higher prices but also staff that is not helpful or welcoming. I have been "educated", as I did self check with rolling eyes that the code for their bagels is printed into the bag. Yes, Iam a foreigner, but I can read! If I need Sandwich meat, I have to remember to start at this station first, because slicing 1 lb ever roast and 0.5 lb salami can take up to 20 min. ( yes, I did time it) Worse was when I was at the fish counter. The lady had the light on, organizing her fish and she completely ignored me. After a few minutes waiting I said "good morning" and her answer was "Iam not open yet!" Well thank you .. how am I to know that and wouldn't it be nicer to acknowledge the customer and tell them that you aren't ready yet? She took her time to adjusting every piece of fish and than she asked me what I wanted and told me to get y other shopping done and come back. Well... the fish counter is actually on the way out!!! The entire attitude of her made me so mad I almost went to customer service but than ... why wasting my time even more?! Also let's talk about all those random shopping carts that are all over the parking lot because they have no station for them. Sometimes it is so bad you can't even exit out of the glass doors because customers just leave their carts right where the red box machine is so they don't have to walk them back. Which actually is nice so they don't crash into the cars however the staff doesn't clean them up. Mark is nice and so so are a few other employees, but it is rare you will get a smile from anyone. It is close to my home so I'm there at least once a week. The store is ok but is a lot smaller than other Kroger stores and has a small selection of just about everything s your chives are limited. The workers are pretty friendly and ROSE in the bakery is AMAZING! She made the best cupcakes for my daughters 5th bday. read more

Holy rudeness. I can only speak of the 3 cashiers that were working this evening because I had no interaction with management, but it blows my mind that people that ignorant can hold a job. Newsflash: cashiers should be nice and generally respectful since their job is mostly customer service. These ladies weren't at all concerned with either of those things. The management needs to seriously rethink their front end staff. There are plenty of people out there that would love to have a job, they don't have to settle for bottom of the barrel. I live near this location so I am forced to come here out of convenience but it is absolutely ridiculous that they never have anything I need. It is always messy and out of stock. I went there trying to get my list done and out of the way only to find they did not have the most basic things I needed. Rice Krispies, peanut butter low fat, cans of coke, pepridge farm frozen dough. Out of a list of 20 items they did not have 6 of them. And the deli counter is always a mess. It's worth it to drive further because they just cannot get it together here. Really frustrating and wishing something better would replace them. read more

A nice store with not-so-nice employees. One exception, Ray, the manager I spoke with on the phone today, was helpful and extremely polite. I had a problem with the bakery department employee that made it seem like a burden to take my order for a cake, so I called to cancel the order and alert the manager. He was apologetic and it seemed sincere, which is why I gave two stars. An absolute nightmare of a store - unfortunately poorly managed, staffed with people who mean well but aren't able to do the basic jobs and have problems with executing the tasks. Stewart the manager is high incompetent - doesn't understand the customer - cant relate to his clientele and always makes excuses. Produce is far below average, comments about meat department are spot on - they care more about their process than the customer. Flower manager cant handle orders - just likes to move flowers in buckets and blow up balloons. Also - check your dates - Stewart loves to keep things in the store that go bad to make money. read more

I am not writing this review to upset anyone, we have great employees, I love them all, except a very few and that very few can ruin morale and the whole store seems to have a bad attitude. I worked for them for 8 months, I will miss the great workers they have. The very few that are hateful are just plain hateful, I think most of them worked at Farmer John's and were transferred when the store sold. I started working in the Floral Station for when Noor went on a maternity leave and when she got back my hours were cut to 10-12 hours which doesn't bother me a whole lot. Their are exactly 3 to maybe 4 employees, women only, I think the power went to their heads. They did not train me on the register so whenever I had a question I would have to call customer service which wasn't always there, so my line would stall. They would come up and fix the program but not show me how it was done. The male managers work just like the employees with a great attitude showing appreciation for the help that they get. I do not think Kroger gives the supervisors enough money to fully staff the store, but the others that think they are in charge are ruining the rest of the employees attitude and they still work hard but people work harder when they are cared about. Thank you for listening and please give a friendly nod to the baggers, cashiers an cart runners, they are pushed so hard and they need a job and it probably took them years to learn what they have. Bless their souls, work as hard as you can and then be treated badly by people that yell over the intercom, "Where are you" we need carts. Not say please can someone go and return some carts. The nicest Kroger in the area. They have a great organic produce section for reasonable prices. I always get excellent service when I go or call. For instance, I wanted some organic peaches and they did not have any. The man order them for me and they were there the next day. The parking lot is a mess, in terms of navigation (think Trader Joe's in Royal Oak) but other than that I this Kroger! If the parking lot was better, I would gladly give 5 stars! read more

Overall lay out of the store is nice, organized from what I saw and clean but the employees are another story...from the produce worker who glared at me because my cart was in his path, to the grocery worker who didn't think it necessary to move when I needed to reach an item he was blocking even after I said excuse me. But my real issue was during check out. I made my way to the cashier who was standing at the end of register (by the magazine racks) who appeared to be waiting for a customer. We made eye contact and I headed towards her but she just looked at me waiting gesturing me to her lane or further acknowledging me. So instead of awkwardly standing there I headed to the next open cashier, a woman named Lacretia who looked at me but said nothing. It wasn't until after my items were all on her belt and I asked her how SHE was doing that she finally spoke: "You know this is an EXPRESS line. 15 items or less". I politely told her that I didn't realize that or I wouldn't have went to her lane, to which she said nothing. It seems this whole store needs to purge itself of lazy workers with major attitude and actually look into real customer service.
