I don't usually write Yelp reviews, but I just had the best experience with Kim and KRM Auto in Ely. Came in from Utah with my Audi and a busted rear brake assembly trying to head back to CA. I was there first thing Monday morning and Kim right away put it up and took a look. After initially thinking he might need some parts (which would mean a few+ days waiting for me...), he was able to find what he needed in his garage, and fixed it all within a couple hours. This is one Honest Shop!!! Kim the owner/mechanic helped us out big time when our car that we had just had an oil change the day prior at a professional oil change shop in California started spewing oil everywhere smoking on our drive to Idaho. We stopped at KRM and Kim stopped the work he was doing on another vehicle when we pulled up, grabbed a flashlight to try to determine where the oil was coming from. He felt that the oil dip stick was not put back in properly from when we had the oil change causing the oil to spill out everywhere. He added a quart of oil, tied the dipstick down because it had got damaged from the rattling around and only charged us for a quart of oil. This is an incredible shop with super friendly people. We were driving home to Washington from Vegas and stopped in Ely for gas when we noticed we had no coolant even though KRM was about to close they still made time to take a look at our car and discovered a bad water pump. They stayed after hours to fix our vehicle, drove into town for the parts, had it done faster than expected and the best part was that in the beginning they had quoted us a price that we considered more than fair but when they were done they charged $150 LESS than the original quote. They could've easily charged us the original quote and we would have paid it gladly. Very honest people and a shop with a lot of integrity. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone! The motor, unfortunately, was a lost cause, but they didn't charge me a dime either for the excellent (but disheartening) diagnosis nor for storage until I could arrange to have it towed back to California. I was returning home to Arizona from a family emergency trip to Washington state. At 5:00 am on Friday December 22, 2017 the heater in my 2011 Ford F-150 quit. I noticed my gauges for water and oil began to raise immediately. I was traveling alone, my husband (a disabled veteran) was waiting for me at home in Arizona. Making a long story short, I "limped" my truck along Hwy 93 at 20 mph stopping to cool the engine as needed until I finally got a signal for my cell phone. I called my roadside assistance provider who dispatched a tow truck, I was towed into Ely, NV 40 miles away. Having spent 3 hours in my truck with no heat and the temperature at 5 degrees F, I was relieved to see the KRM shop and the smiling mechanics who greeted me. I had phone KRM from the tow truck, giving them all the information on my Ford truck. Once arrived at their shop, I was informed the local NAPA store did not have a single part in stock for my truck and that items would have to be ordered from Salt Lake City. Since this was the Friday before Christmas, it would be Tuesday or Wednesday before the parts came in. I faced the possibility of spending Christmas in Ely. But the professional and caring employees of KRM understood my need to get back home after my unexpected emergency trip, as well as the need to be home for Christmas. They pulled a local truck out of their shop they had been working on, and put my truck ahead of the other truck. They managed to find certain parts in their shop and invented the necessary part to fix the leak that caused the draining of Anti-freeze in my radiator. I made it all the way home (478 miles) with their help. There just aren't enough words to explain how relieved I felt pulling into my own drive way in sunny warm Arizona very late Friday night. I just want to give a shout out to KRM Auto Repair in Ely NV. If anyone is in or near Ely and needs work on their car go to them. I was camping out at Great Basin this past weekend and my car battery died on me. I was able to get a jump to get to Ely to replace my battery on the way home . I stopped at NAPA Auto parts got the battery but they won't touch your vehicle. I tried calling my road side assistance, they will only give you a tow. I then went to Good year down the road, they were super rude and would not help me. I then went to KRM Auto repair, they got me right in, were super nice and got my battery changed in no time at all. An extra bonus they had a husky puppy I got to love on while my battery was replaced. ( puppy love is always a great de-stresser ) Awesome place, if I lived closer to there I would go to them for all my auto needs. read more

OMG, did we luck out when a friend who lives in Ely referred us to this shop and the owner/mechanic, Kim!! We broke down 45 miles outside of Ely and got towed to KRM. We were confident that our fuel pump had died and were getting mentally prepared for a parts and labor bill of at least $700 and hopefully, no more than $1000. Kim did a diagnostic test which revealed that we had an air intake sensor issue and what he discovered was a tiny fly (YES, A FLY!!!) had gotten sucked into our air intake sensor. It ended up costing $150!!! Come on, really a freaking fly! We live in Las Vegas and only had a few days that we would be camping in the area; Kim got us taken care of in a matter of a few days, despite having a full lot of cars waiting to be worked on! (Just the fact that he has so many cars in his lot gives you an idea of how much trust locals place in his skills and abilities, right!!?) We are in the Ely area almost every other week in the summer off-roading with our ATV's and we asked Kim if they work on ATVs too and they do, so now we have a contact for a mechanic for our three ATVs too.
