It's always fantastic to find help when your in automotive trouble. At Gale Oil & Tire my wife and I found two knowledgeable team members, TJ and Sam who understood our car trouble and fit us into their already packed customers who had scheduled appointments. They both understand cars and trucks way better than most mechanics and have experience and repair advice way more than tire installation only mechanics. What puts Gale Oil & Tire as my favorite mechanics and garage is their honesty. Our personal situation was me and my wife who are retired and total strangers passing through town with serious car troubles. Don't let the appearances of this place fool you. It's not clean and tidy like a Les Schwab or Goodyear Tires. But the staff here are very nice, quick, and honest. I came in with a flat and requested a plug since that is what my tire place usually does where I live. They explained why a patch would be better and did it on the spot. (I researched it later and they were exactly right.) I was in and out in about 15 minutes with a lower charge than i'm use to paying. read more

In the midst of a road trip we were in Ely on a Saturday night. We found ourselves in desperate need of a couple of new tires or at the very least one. Don't these things always seem to happen after hours and in this case a Saturday night with no tire shops open on Sunday? The front desk clerk at our hotel recommended calling Gale Oil. Lance called us back early Sunday morning and offered to open his shop to see if he had what we needed. As it turned out he didn't have a tire that would work for us and wouldn't even take any $$ for opening up for us on a Sunday. We had a flat tire on our Airstream travel trailer. We were camping at Great Basin National Park so we drove into Ely on our spare. This business is great, we are long time Nevadans and I remember Gale Oil and Tire when I was a kid traveling through Ely. We had a pretty good sized hole in our trailer tire and the gentleman working that Labor Day weekend patched it and we made it safely back to Las Vegas. I can't remember the charge, it was either 15.00 or 20.00 dollars which is average. I would trust this establishment, they have been in business a long time and they are not out to scam their customers. read more

I had a trailer tire blow out and Gale Oil & Tire quickly found a replacement at a reasonable price, mounted it, and even let us borrow a floor jack for a few minutes to install the new tire. These guys are "on target"! Highly recommend them. read more

Lance and his employees are awesome, always super fast and attentive. Have had a few sets of tires mounted with him and always been great and priced awesome. I even shopped around for some in SLC and Southern Utah and they were almost 300 dollars more expensive not to mention fuel and time wasted going out of town. Keep business local and don't hesitate going to them! We use them quite often for our fleet vehicles as well and never had any issues or problems. read more

I had a horrible experience getting an oil change and tire rotation. First of all the receptionist did not fully inderstand what I was asking for. They had no idea when my truck would be done., and when I finally picked it up I had to wait outside 20 minutes until a mechanic finished working on a car that was blocking me. They saved our day!! We had blown our tire on Rte 50 about 106 miles away from Ely. So we rode our spare all the way to Ely. Since we could only go less than 50mph, we didn't get into town until around 8pm. We looked in the phone book and found Gale Oil and Tire. They had an after hours number, so we called and spoke with a wonderful woman. Since we were already staying the night, she encouraged us to just come in first thing in the morning and they open at 8am!! Not 9am like the other places. So we get there and I believe it was Paul (sorry, really bad with names) who came to help us, we told him our issue and he was very quick to help. He found us a tire, and we were literally in and out of there in 15 minutes! They were all very wonderful, and they didn't take advantage of our situation. Our entire bill was less than $20! They could've easily jacked up the price...just because it would be so easy...but no! They are just fabulous and prompt and so very helpful!! Definitely recommend!!! read more

Lance is a crook and should be shut down. I have taken my vehicles in and marked my filter and oil cap suspecting it wasn't getting changed and sure enough it was the same filter and the cap wasn't moved. I talked to an ex employee who said Lance tells the guys to do that, what a joke. I will take my business down the street, big 8 is busy but still gets you in as quick as possible. read more

Gale Tire has been serving me for over 13 years + with the Best prices and service! I have shopped on-line for better prices and out of town in major cities and still, in all these years have yet to find a better price for the same identical tire. Their pricing is very reasonable and I have to say, even with my Motorcycles and ATV's Gale tire continues to serve my needs. read more
