My first time here at Kristi's and it was lovely! Friends and I met for dinner on a Friday with a reservation at 6:30. While it didn't completely fill up I would still recommend making a reservation as it's a small space. We started with cocktails - the pear old fashioned was good, but quite strong! They have a fair-sized cocktail menu and several wines to choose from as well. I ordered the blackened mahi mahi and risotto that was the special for the evening and it was fantastic. The fish was seasoned perfectly, and the simple risotto had great texture and flavor. Two friends finished their meals entirely so I can only assume they were just as good as mine (salmon and twin medallions). I almost ordered the fish fry but was bummed about having to choose between coleslaw and potato so I didn't. Our server was lovely. It's clearly a close knit group of employees and a one feels like family when dining here. read more

Great food, excellent service. Selection and execution is superior compared to other fine-dining restaurants in the area. My wife and I live in New Glarus and go to Kristi's pretty often. Our favorites include chipotle salmon (mahi mahi is also an option) with a wonderful flavorful sauce. Seared ahi tuna on greens with a vinaigrette is an amazing appetizer. Visited from Tucson, Arizona and selected Kristi's for its curb appeal. I left as a completely satisfied customer. The Tenderloin Steak Sandwich was so tender and juicy I was able to bite into it AND I HAVE BRACES! It was prepared exactly as I ordered and did not disappoint. The Green County Cheese Curds made with Brick cheese and served with chipotle ranch, passed my 10 year old granddaughter's test and she has NEVER liked any other cheese curds...I had to share. The food, building and artwork are all amazing but the genuinely warm and accommodating service was so appreciated. I saw tourists and locals being greeted and wish I lived closer. I highly recommend Kristi's and will dream of the mouth-watering Tenderloin Steak Sandwich until we meet again. read more

While visiting from Boston, my friend and I took a day trip to New Glarus' Octoberfest. During the trip, we saw this line of people waiting to get inside Kristi's. Of course, we joined their excitement...and so glad we did! Once inside, we saw the most delicious selection of items. Initially, my friend offered to pay, but after he saw how much I was buying, he told me I was on my own! The selection was vast, the line moved fast, and the service was impeccable. Stopped here a few weeks ago at dinner. This is located in a very old farmhouse which has been somewhat converted into a restaurant. The small rooms were left as is and tables placed around the main floor of the house. The tables are quite close together so if the place were busy, you would be sharing your dinner space with the people at the next table. There was quite a bit of food splattered on the wallpaper near our table and some Asian lady beetles flying around the lights. The prices here are a bit higher than most chain restaurants. The food was fantastic. Unbelievable flavors coming together with the entire meal. My husband and I always share a bit of each other's meals so we each tired about 6 different items. Steak was cooked to perfection, shrimp was not overcooked or rubbery. The only complaint we had was that the portions were way too small for the prices we paid. read more

The Yelp app suggests Subway or Culver's. Well, there is absolutely no comparison! We stumbled upon this gem stopping in for lunch. Wow! The tortilla chips were not oily and the guacamole and tomatillo salsa were very tasty. The pork sandwich with apple sauerkraut was a delight. The pork was marinaded in a dry rub that was very flavorful. The fries, like the tortilla chips, were not oily. Delicious! The menu items are unique! And all this not to mention the charming atmosphere in a stately old mansion and service with warmth and a smile! This will become our regular stop as we pass through. read more

So, the service was fine, the ambience intimate - a converted home, obviously, and comfortable seating and spacing. Regrettably the food wasn't that great. My wife had a steak but it was tough, though she likes it well done, so that's a risk. We liked the cheese curds. She liked the spaetzle, but I thought it was over-seasoned to the point I didn't really taste the noodle as much as the seasoning. I had the Wiener Schnitzel which, sad to say, was browned a little too much. Red Cabbage was okay. It seemed to be the only real restaurant in town that wasn't a pub. I was very impressed! The restaurant has a homie feel and the wait staff was lovely. We ordered the cheese curbs which were lightly breaded and not greasy - very good! I then had the gorgonzola filet with Parmesan potatoes and roasted veggies. The filet was cooked perfectly. The blue cheese was not overwhelming. The filet was also topped with chopped bacon. The baby potatoes came in a cream sauce - tasty but not too heavy. The veggies were also very good - roasted not mushy. For dessert we had the salted caramel cheesecake. I personally wasn't a fan but my boyfriend liked it. The cheesecake didn't really taste like cheesecake. Maybe too much filler and not enough cheese. I would come back and order the same meal minus the cheesecake. This place is definitely a gem. read more

We went to Kristi's for a late lunch when shopping at New Glarus, we were so hungry we sort of just stumbled upon it, but I am glad we did and I can tell you right now we will be sure to go back. I ordered the blackened fish tacos which were amazing, The spice from the blackened fish was balanced with the fresh slaw, corn tortilla, and delicious sauce on top. I easily devoured both of my tacos and my companion also demanded to try my food as well. The location is also prime; the restaurant is on top of hill over looking the shops on the street below. The indoor decor is also beautiful, with works painted by a local artist that are all for sale. read more

My first review is below. I'm standing by it but also going to 4 stars after the dinner visit tonight. The margaritas are still outstanding but this time the food was very good too. The roast duck was done nicely with a great cherry sauce. Tangy and tasty on a big bird. Excellent mashed sweet potatoes and vegetables on the side. My wife liked her shrimp sandwich and the slaw was worth bringing home. Good stuff and nice people. We'll keep trying other things there. Food was just not good this first visit. Also not as described. The "best burger around" tasted sort of like a meatball and was tough and overworked. My wife's tacos had what seemed like stew meat instead of steak with no spice. 2 of the stars are for the excellent margaritas. They had a interesting orange color but were delicious and only 3.50 on Thursdays . I'll go for those anytime. read more

So tonight we had the Alfredo fettuccini with shrimp, the sea scallops, and I had the salmon. Once again it cannot be overstated to say that if you have not yet eaten at Kristi's then you haven't eaten at all. It was all unique and delicious. To put in perspective the magic of the flavor of the food at Kristi's, a simple plate of mixed vegetables was delicious beyond words. How they were flavored is beyond me but if I could make my own veggies like this I probably would eat nothing else. No recommendations because whatever you choose from the menu will be the best decision you've ever made. read more

Took our in-laws here this past Thanksgiving weekend. Kristie's was not our planned destination, but it was the only place in town without a lengthy wait. Not only was there not a wait, the restaurant was completely empty around 6pm on a Saturday night. We had come to town planning to dine on bar food and the staff was gracious to let us choose from the lunch menu which was more sandwich oriented. Our group ordered various burger combinations, and my wife and I both had the shrimp sandwich. The burger eaters raved about the Kristie's burger which featured crumbled chorizo, and we felt the shrimp sandwich was an awesome spin on a po'boys. We could not understand why there were so few diners, the food was outstanding. An awesome change of pace from the areas typical Swiss/German meat, potatoes, cheese, and sausage menus. Headed into town after the brewery tour and this was one of the places you can redeem your free beer coupon from the brewery. When we headed in to town we'd imagined something more quaint and of the town, but we looked at the Kristi's menu and saw the patio in the unseasonably warm weather and we were sold. We were expecting to order Mexican food in a Swiss town, but we split the tacos and burrito and we weren't disappointed. We figured if they were making their own tortillas, chips and salsas, they probably weren't messing around and we weren't disappointed. The salsas were flavorful, the al pastor on the taco was on point and the chips were light and crispy. There were some bees on the porch and our server asked us at the end of the meal if they were a problem, since they'd been very bad the day before - which seemed like a bad time to ask that question (like maybe ask before we're totally done?) But overall our food was tasty, cheap and served quickly and the ability to enjoy a last meal out of doors was too good to pass up. read more

Phenomenal food and service. Sat out on the patio enjoying some New Glares Beer. We started with the Queso Fundido, Tenderloin Crostini, and the Shrimp Sandwich and fries. Chips and queso dip were tasty and fresh; the chips seemed homemade and were still warm. The Tenderloin Crostini was a great light option, covered in steak and peppers that were marinated well. The Shrimp Sandwich came on a Stella's cheese bread bun and the best fries I've ever had. Seriously, the fries were fantastic, perfectly cooked in a light oil and seasoned, salty well. This place is absolutely AMAZING. The service is good, the food is unbelievable. It is very small and quiet which is exactly what we were looking for. We initially planned on going somewhere else, but with a 2-hour wait there we decided to check this place out. We now have a new favorite restaurant and I cannot wait to go back! They also take reservations which is super great because we were coming from out of town. I am so glad we stumbled upon this place. Prices were good and ooooohhh dessert - this is one of the few places that has just good old fashioned plane cheesecake which is my favorite! You won't be disappointed if you choose here!! read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in on our way through town on a day trip expecting just a mom and pops type of place. Very pleasantly surprised. We had the Blacked Ahi Tuna, the roast duck and the prime rib. Chocolate mousse and crème brulé for desserts. The flavors were amazing. Everything tasted great. The portioning of the tuna was awesome, the duck so juicy, steak could of been a bit more tender, but the flavor makes up for it. Friendly, clean, bright atmosphere. We stopped in yesterday for a small lunch after our tour and tasting at New Glarus Brewery. We were seated at a small table outside. It was gorgeous out...why not? We ordered the Kristi Burger with a side of homemade chips and a flan. The burger was a wow burger. Even though it was ordered well done, it was juicy and flavorful...no hockey puck here. The chips were a wonderful accompaniment too! For dessert, we shared the flan. Even though it was not a traditional flan, it was still very tasty. No regrets ordering it. Service was wonderful, efficient, and warm. We will certainly stop back in next time we are in the area and won't hesitate to recommend it when I know of someone visiting New Glarus, WI. read more
