I have long hair that can be anywhere from wavy to just downright messy curls, it's changed over the years. Molly has always made sure to give me the cut that would flatter it most if it air-dried or blow dried myself, not just when it was professionally blown out leaving the salon. I tell her how I usually would do it and she makes sure that the cut works best for that. She has always given me honest opinions or when I thought about coloring it or doing a gloss. I loved that she didn't push me at all for any sort of color even though it would obviously be much more expensive. Before Salon Gatto, over the years, I've gone to other salons closer to home or near work when I was in a pinch or I've seen other hair stylists at Salon Gatto before I found Molly, (I'm sorry but I can't remember any names!) They were always wonderful and I definitely left happy but Molly is my favorite. She is great at her job, not overly talkative (this is a time to RELAX for me) and sweet and is honest. Am I fangirling?? Probably. They have two locations and just opened a whole new second floor at their original location by the Path train, so I love to see them growing and growing!! Other little great things about Salon Gatto: -they have a lovely drink menu that they bring you out right away, which makes visits here feel even more like a treat. -they hair wash is thorough and they will almost always include a really nice head massage. This was done a week prior to the appointment. 2 days prior to the appointment, the salon called to say the stylist will be out for the week, and no one else can do that hairstyle. So they were canceling the appointment, leaving my niece in a bind to call other salons during a weekend. Really, a staff that will be out for a week did not give advanced notice? Like they just decide to take off? Or perhaps she only has that one client for the day and decided that it's not worth it to come in? Who knows? But despite the talent we will not be calling again.

It was disappointing to be met with a lack of empathy, especially since this left me scrambling at short notice. Needed an option for makeup and decided to give them a chance for a "just eyes" service. There was one stylist there when I arrived who was completing hair on someone and ran 20 min late. Not a huge deal. When she finally got to me, her next client came in about 5 minutes later and I was concerned she'd rush or I wouldn't be satisfied with the makeup. It ended up being alright, not really what I asked for but better than I was expecting. I booked the service with the intention to get individual lashes, which is included in the price. When we got to that, the artist said- what do you think? You don't really need them since it's a daytime party. Between that and the obvious time crunch, I decided on the spot (under pressure) that it wasn't worth it and would probably be rushed or done poorly so I said fine, no need to do those but regretted not speaking up. I was surprised to be charged the full price even though I didn't get lashes and contacted the salon to share the experience and to see what could be done (nothing).
