Both items I had were delicious and I enjoyed this meal. I suddenly had a craving for mashed potatoes and gravy earlier this evening. So I stopped in and got this for a snack. I originally meant to get red beans and rice, but they were all sold out of this item. That's when I opt in for something else. As Yelp reviewer Sam mentioned, this is real solid food in the area. We've been driving past one of their SJ locations pretty often and have been hearing good things about this chain overall. Happy to say that it did not disappoint! I ordered through Grubhub around noon a.k.a. peak lunch time. Received my order within 45 minutes, within the expected arrival time. Order was 100% correct. Thanks, Krispy Krunchy and Grubhub! Since Krispy Krunchy locations are inside supermarkets and gas stations, I was definitely skeptical that the food wouldn't be good or fresh. I ordered the 8 piece chicken & large potato wedges, which came out to about $25 after all of the fees & tip. Still a pretty good deal overall. I tried the potato wedges first and YUM. They were not as crispy because they were steaming a bit inside of the paper bag but they were warm and delicious! Loved the seasoning on them and they probably taste amazing fresh out of the fryer. Will be popping these into the air fryer later to crisp them up again! The chicken was SO KRUNCHY. Flesh was fresh and juicy, and the seasoning was on point. I enjoyed it very much and highly recommend it! tl;dr - Great chicken & yummy potato wedges. TRY IT! I've been driving past this place for over a year now and I finally took the dive into this gas station food adventure. Walking in, I was surprised to find a line and the menu on TV screens tucked away in the gas station store. Looked at the glass and they had a bunch of their fried chicken just sitting in there. As for the chicken though, that's a different story. I watched fresh chicken come out of the fryer and the guy put the last remaining chicken that was under the heat lamps for my order. The chicken was room temp, and was still moist. But the flavor that other reviews have talked about was severely lacking. Slight hint of spice, but virtually tasteless. My appetite was definitely thrown off when I saw them refill their mac n cheese from a SEALED PLASTIC BAG! It's a gas station, so I expect grime, but that was a bit too much for me. I grew up in the neighborhood so the area doesn't bother me. Parking is the super save market lot and not a problem. Location is in the super save market which is more convenient than a gas station to me. Was there kinda of late so they ran out of a lot of sides. I ordered a 12 piece mixed and honey buns. Had to wait 10mins as he needed to fry it. Again no problem as i can wander around the market. The cashier was friendly, polite, and happy to help. The smell of fried chicken in the air was great lol. When i was able to eat my order i was sad about how long i took to try this place out. They are really good. Crisp on the outside juicy insides. This place does not disappoint. Chicken is super juicy and tender. So crunchy and crispy on the outside. It's perfect. I used to like Popeye's but this place blows them out of the water. 4 stars for the chicken, 1 star for the service. I had initially called since they say they do takeout to place an order to be ready for pickup in an hour. First of all, I was put on hold for a couple of minutes while the person on the other end had what sounded like a mini-argument with a customer. It was really awkward and uncomfortable to hear, and just sounded unprofessional. Then when they came back on the phone, they couldn't understand what I was trying to say and it took a long time to clarify that I wanted to place an order for pickup. Once that was understood, they told me that there is no way to place an order over the phone and I had to come in in person to place the order, then wait 30 min for them to fry the chicken. I even offered to give my credit card number to pay for it over the phone ahead of time and they said they didn't have the capability for that. When I asked to speak to the manager, they said they were on break and wouldn't be back for 20 minutes. I was so confused and didn't understand how a place with takeout doesn't allow you to place orders over the phone. In the end, we ended up ordering online successfully which made it even more bizarre that they couldn't take an order over the phone and said I had to come in-person and then wait 30 min. To clarify, the chicken is actually really good. It was piping hot, crispy, and not very greasy. It also had a subtle spice to it which made for a pleasant aftertaste. Krispy krunchy is probably my first choice for non-Korean fried chicken spot. It is definitely a better deal than Popeyes priced at 9.99 for eight piece dark meat chicken. But keep in mind that the wait can be long especially for drumsticks. Will recommend to call ahead of time to put in the order and skip the line and pick it up. The wait is always worth tho. You can go a few blocks up and down 3rd street and find real good fried chicken as well, but Krispy Krunchy Chicken is at the top for me. There are a few tips that I can offer with my own experience... I would recommend coming right before they open - the food is fried right then and there and is hot and fresh. I made the mistake of coming in at a time where the food had been sitting under the heat lamp for a few hours and the chicken was not fresh. Service is very hit/miss, but keep in mind they do try their best to accommodate everyone during their rush hours. OK, we had to celebrate my mom's birthday so I ordered 25 pcs of dark meat chicken again from Krispy for about $25. I stayed away from the cooked sides but got a coleslaw salad side. I'm thinking, hey, you don't have to cook it so give it a try. I was surprised to find it was tasty, (not liquidy and tasteless like KFC) a WONDERFUL cool accompaniment to the chicken.
