What a good time! This Krispy Kreme was the first one built in Tallahassee. It has been here since circa 2001, when I was in elementary school. I still remember when I was too old to take the field trips younger classes took to walk to the store for donuts and chocolate milk... The parking lot is expansive for such a small shop. You walk in and immediately to your right is the glass window of hopes and dreams. The donuts. The machinery is set up, lifting the donuts through the pulley, dropping them into the deep fryer, and drenching them in a waterfall of glaze. That was always a sight to see, and deterred not one person from walking out the store without a box of a dozen donuts. Recently when I went back to this location, it brought me back to my childhood, almost literally as I set at the little red children's table in the tiny seats provided for smaller children. It's sturdy though, because not even my dad could break it. Paper Krispy Kreme hats littered the table so we each grabbed one for selfies. The hats are pretty cool, I don't remember if they were always like this, but they have an adjustable paper strap. We had coupons that were expiring, so we took advantage of the buy one dozen assorted, get one dozen glazed free. A patient Krispy Kreme worker took our sporadic and random orders as quickly as he could, and rang us up with our additional box of original glazed for free. We also bought two coffees, which were a little disappointing. It was super hot, but once it cooled down, you could notice the watery diluted lack of flavor. This is my go-to Krispy Kreme. The facility is always immaculate and the team members are very friendly. Even when they have a large morning rush they are efficient and courteous. At my most recent visit I tried a new mini donut and it was moderately satisfying. I think for a child or someone really watching their waist line this might be the treat for them as Krispy Kreme is marketing it as a 100 calorie snack. I personally had one with chocolate icing and sprinkles so I'm not sure how many that adds to the 100. It was super cute, but it was so small and I ate is so fast I didn't get to take a picture. You can get two for $2 and I'm not sure how much of a deal that really is because I think one regular sized donut is a $1 and some change and a little more if it's a speciality donut. Personally, I'd rather pay full price for a full portion of that glazed goodness. read more

We went to the store early Saturday morning; the lobby was closed due to Covid-19 so we had to use the drive through. God knows why they couldn't open the lobby since they have plenty of room for social distancing inside and every other business around them was open -- as are the Krispy Kreme stores in other cities. Drive through was a disaster: we ordered only four donuts and they were out of one variety -- again, this was at 8:00 a.m. We were the only car in the drive through and for some reason it took them 10 minutes to fill our order. They were out of dollar bills so I got a pocketful of quarters for my change. As if that weren't enough, our original glazed donuts were stone cold, despite the fact that the "Hot And Ready" sign was lit. I would not recommend this store. read more

During undergrad years, I frequented the 24-hour Krispy Kreme on W. Tennessee. It was a classic diner-layout. wraparound counter, real ceramic Krispy Kreme cups (I still have one), and in general, a much saltier atmosphere that welcomed those without homes in the wee hours of the morning - provided they had the money for a coffee and perhaps a doughnut. Today - The Krispy Kreme just down the street from us is a gleaming beacon for amateurs and cognoscenti (of doughnuts) alike. LITERALLY! - The neon beacon curbside announces when hot-glazed doughnuts are in production. Furthermore, there's an APP that sets off alarms based on one's location, directing them to the nearest hot-glazed doughnuts. I know... This Krispy Kreme is spotless. Seriously. I've not been to it once when the tables weren't wiped down, the stainless steel didn't shine, and the employees weren't anything but courteous, friendly and professional. I've occasionally gone through the drive-through for a quick coffee and I've always experienced an employee who came across as though they owned the place - concerned about my utmost satisfaction. Seriously. This particular Krispy Kreme is conveniently located at the corner of Park and Magnolia. You know you're at the right one when you see a green "mobile billboard" truck parked in the parking lot which apparently doubles as a delivery van. It's a peculiar sight, but I suspect the proprietor got a great deal on it. There's one thing I don't like about this (or any) Krispy Kreme, and I have a parallel dislike for Indian restaurants as well: It's all fun & games when you're inside, having your way with the doughnuts - but once you leave, your clothes will betray where you've been. Krispy Kreme is suppose southern institution but this location is a poorly managed franchise that does not deserve to wear the red white and green. They seem to always be out of things that they shouldn't be like donuts and coffee. the staff is rarely friendly and some how has made putting 12 donuts in a box seem very complicated. They turn the red hot light on to signify hot fresh donuts even when they know they do not have hot fresh donuts. A dishonest way to lure customers. I've called Krispy Kreme customer service and they told me people complain about this location all the time but they can't really do anything because it's a franchises location. Story time! When my wife was 42 weeks pregnant she had cravings for hot Krispy Kreme's at random hours of the night and we downloaded the app to see when they would be hot and fresh. Several times i made the trip in the middle of the night only to find that the light would be on and no hot donuts. So I would go home with no hot donuts to a very angry very pregnant wife. My wife was so upset she vowed to never have Krispy Kreme again. But then almost a year to the day later Krispy Kreme announced the solar eclipse chocolate glazed donut only available for a few days Aug. 19-21. The doughnut was set to debut during the afternoon hot light hour. My wife was so excited she lifted the Krispy Kreme ban. I showed up cash in hand just a few minutes after the light came on only to find a staff that did not know what I was talking about. Even though there were marketing materials advertising the chocolate glazed donut all over the building... burned again! I asked for a manager and they told me they were gonna make them till the next day because they didn't want to have to clean the glaze machine. So I came back the next day when the light was on and to my surprise they had the limited edition donut but in the spirit of this sunken place it was not hot even hot even tho the light was on.
