Beyond Amazing!!! Dr. Schobel, Dr. Gialanella and their team are absolutely great…read more I have been working on my teeth with Dr. Schobel for about a year now and he was super patient as we went through my Invisalign journey. He is very detail and cared about my priorities. I tend to be a perfectionist so it took a bit longer than we initially expected, but he heard my very detailed concerns and always took action towards addressing them. My mom sees Dr. Gialanella. She has a complicated history of gingivitis that has cause other issues but she can't be in better hands. She has maintain her oral health and Dr. Gialanella referred her to other amazing specialists that helped taking care of the additional issues. I can go on and on about how great they are as professionals and humans. But, I want to dedicate a few lines to their staff who are equally awesome! From the front desk to their hygienists team you will be treated with so much kindness and care. They always have a positive attitude and a snail won't heir face. I moved from Los Angeles to DC about two years ago and I have to say that this is THE BEST dental office I've even been to.

The dental assistant who met me shortly after arrival was friendly, informative and very effective in taking me through her preparation and process. Dr. Schobel used all the information that had been gathered on my case. He asked very relevant questions and explained his views clearly and answered all questions. I can say it was the best dental experience I've ever had.

Not even a little bit surprised to see that Treasured Pearls has 5 stars…read more Let's start with the fact that they never double-book, so when you walk in, the staff are ready for you. I have only ever had to wait when an emergency patient took priority over my cleaning. Rather than having the hygienist give you a cleaning and then getting a quick cursory exam from the dentist, Dr. Barnes will do your cleaning. They have computerized everything, so that your records are easily accessible and update-able. Cathy, the receptionist is so warm and nice, she puts you at ease as soon as you walk in (in fact, she always greets me by name). She also is great at explaining any questions you might have about billing. This is where I refer all my friends and colleagues, and I hope that I never have to find another dentist.

Dr. McKenzie is sloppy, incompetent, inconsiderate, and terrible with children. Though it looks…read morelike some other reviewers have had better experiences with her, I note that she gives patients giftcards in exchange for positive reviews. My two young children were patients of Dr. McKenzie from 2025-2026; though we have had problems with her from the beginning, we put up with her because her office was conveniently located downtown. We had made our first appointment with her for a routine cleaning, for which she charged us $398. When my children showed minor discomfort with the dental chair, instead of working with my children or giving me a chance to put them at ease, she made me take more time off of work to come back later. During the follow-up appointment, the cleaning was less thorough than the twice-daily brushing that the children have at home. She did not use a polisher or any other dental tools, and the only task that she did that I could not do myself was apply flouride paste to the children's teeth. We came back after my daughter fell and injured her mouth. I had mistakenly thought that my daughter's tooth had fallen out and wanted to get the injury professionally examined. Dr. McKenzie was so inept that, even after examining my daughter, she did not realize that the tooth was actually pushed into my daughter's gum. (I found out weeks later after the tooth began reemerging.) The last straw for us happened when we were 15 minutes late for one of the children's appointments due to a subway delay. (The children had back to back appointments scheduled at 10am and 1030am.) We had called in advance of the appointment to let Dr. McKenzie know that we would be running late and provided an accurate ETA, and Dr. McKenzie's assistant told us that we could still come in. It was not until after we arrived that we were told that both of the appointments would be cancelled, even though we had called ahead and were 15 minutes early for the second appointment, and that we would be charged a $200 cancellation fee.

Dr. Thornton is super personable and his passion (yes, passion) for improving your dental care really comes through in his check-ups and conversation. I was especially impressed because they proactively squeezed me in for a cleaning right before my wedding even though they were booked solid! I feel really taken care of here, and I cannot recommend Dr. Thornton and his staff enough. Also, bonus points for being located less than a block from the metro station!

On my first visit, I had a digital scan done of my entire mouth, and Dr. Van Der Linden took the time to go through the entire scan with me to explain what I was seeing and identify potential concerns. I really appreciated the educational and thorough approach. The office staff were all so friendly (Carissa in particular was so nice!) and very attentive. The location is also incredibly convenient- it's right across the street from the 18th and I exit of the Farragut West metro station.

He is a kind buffer before a potentially stressful appointment. For my cleaning, Jennifer was amazing. Today Dr. Oh fixed a crown that had been bothering me for some time. He explained everything that he was going to do and then explained it while he did it. In using the Novocain he was very conscientious of any discomfort he might cause me. But thankfully he did such a good job that he did not cause me any discomfort. I visited this office for a routine dental prophylaxis (cleaning) and left extremely disappointed…read morewith the quality of care. What should have been a standard preventive cleaning turned into a painful and unnecessarily aggressive experience. During the procedure, there was significant pain and excessive bleeding, far beyond what is normal for a routine cleaning. Even more concerning, one of the fillings in my molar was pulled out during the cleaning, something that has never happened to me in any prior dental visit. At no point was there a clear explanation for the level of force being used, nor was my discomfort adequately addressed during the appointment. A routine dental cleaning should not result in pain, heavy bleeding, or damage to existing dental work. I have had many cleanings over the years, and this was by far the most uncomfortable and poorly handled experience. Based on what happened, I genuinely don't understand how this practice maintains such high ratings. Patients should not be expected to accept this level of care as normal. I would not return or recommend this office based on my experience.

I go, I always go, but I hate it nonetheless. I used to agonize for days about a routine cleaning, that's how freaky I am about the dentist. But this is a good one. A VERY GOOD ONE. I have been seeing Dr. Mills and her associate, Dr. Brian, for nine years now and I cannot speak highly enough about these dentists and the staff at this office. The entire staff is professional and friendly and this is very much a family-oriented practice. Even for me, who doesn't have a family, I feel like I am walking into my aunt or grandmother's house when I get here. I know that is a ridiculous thing to say but if you have dental fears, then you get what I mean when I say this is a very comforting dentist. And they remember you. I was gone for two years in Africa and came back and it was like I never left. They remembered me (and all my neurosis) like I had never been gone. Dr. Mills (and maybe Dr. Brian, not sure) are originally from Ghana so if you are a traveler, they will be particularly to your liking. Especially if you have had some strange dental procedures in other countries or are neurotic and fearing strange dental procedures in other countries ;) In any case, traveler or not, this is by far the best dentist and best dental office I have ever been to.
