"CAVEAT EMPTOR" w/DPA's Front Office. Don't get bamboozled or hoodwinked by their billing section.
I found members of DPA's business office (ofc) staff unprofessional, shockingly arrogant, brazenly disrespectful & carelessly reckless w/ regard(s) to 3rd party contractual mandates & residual patient insurance (ins) obligation(s). Following a recent root canal procedure done by an Endodontic dental practice, I contacted DPA to price & schedule a Build-Up & Crown. Considering our Aetna policy, DPA's ofc manager (mgr) quoted a patient responsibility of $1,529. She held firm & steadfast to the quote. This dispite the wife & I telling her the $1,529 was hundreds more than what we paid for the same procedure(s) earlier this year to/in another ofc, done by the same dentist (Louis Barr). We have been his patient(s) for over 35 years.
The wife called Aetna ins whose rep said our responsibility after Aetna's pymt should be $1,184 and not $1,529. That same afternoon on Monday, 10/20/2025, the wife called DPA's ofc mgr & told her that Aetna's ofc had said (DPA was overcharging us $345.00). The ofc mgr said she'd look into it. The next day, having not heard from DPA's ofc mgr, I called to speak w/ her and was informed she was off. I then asked the phone respondent to leave a message for Dr. Barr. She resolutely & emphatically shouted "Dr. Barr knows nothing about dental ins reimbursement(s)." Then the employee calmly said she was going to hang up and she did so much to my amazement & chagrin. I called Dr. Barr on his cell & told him of my earlier phone conversation w/ DPA's phone rep. That evening DPA's ofc mgr called, not to apologize for the curt & impudent phone person, but to say I woul be responsible for $1,184 and not for the $1,529 she initially quoted.
Having been 3rd party health care reimbursement professionals for over 50 years (btwn us), the wife & I can't help wondering just how many unsuspecting DPA patients have unwittingly fallen prey to DPA's derelict & deceptive billing practices and initiatives???
