This was my first time eating here, after reading the reviews I decided to give it a try. I went during lunch and was pretty pleased with the experience. Parking was difficult as it is located right off Jackson St. When I entered the restaurant I was greeted right away. The menu consists of mostly Greek American options. I ordered the Lamb Gyro Combo which came to $9.99 with tax. I got my drink and sat at a table and within minutes my food was served. The Gyro came wrapped in foil, topped with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and cucumber sauce. The Gyro was smaller than what I'm accustomed to in FL for the same price. The meat was seasoned well, however it did not have that crispy crust normally associated with Gyro meat, it was rather soft and fatty. The fries were seasoned well and a nice size portion. Here we go. This was our first visit to Krilakis. This is a fun, quick order Greek restaurant. I came here for a quick week night dinner with the boys after an evening of school events. The atmosphere was great and the owner came out and spent a few minutes chatting with us about how he became a restaurateur. On to the food. The boys are heavy carnivores, so we ordered a variety of chicken and lamb dishes, while my non-adventurous 5 year old ordered a plain burger and fries. Let's start with the fries. These are simply amazing. In fact, the fries were so good that the 3 orders we had were in my kids stomachs before I could snap a picture. Same with the chicken pita we ordered as well. The only weak dish was the lamb gyro. It's not the typical lamb gyro. The lamb was flavorful, but presented uniquely as a chopped meat warmed on a flat top rather than carved off a vertical rotisserie. The texture change is noticeable. Simply Put, this is my favorite place to eat in Jackson! The gyro is consistent and well crafted. I love it! It's not some super fancy restaurant with a big menu. They have a small menu, but the food is great and very consistent. It is affordable, and a really nice atmosphere. There are outside and inside eating options, as well as a carry out eating option. I was told I had to go by Krilakis to try the burger. Greek place for a burger? Well, the source of the tip is a highly reliable foodie so I took her advise and rolled in last night and ordered the 2 cheese burger. Feta...mozzarella and about a 1/2# burger. I'm in. Burger came after the appropriate time it takes to cook a 1/2 pound, hand formed patty of raw chuck into a 1/2 pound of perfectly cooked ground goodness. The bun. Oh man, the bun. Ever had that sweet bun at Mugshots? Take that bun and make it 3x better. It is the daddy of sweet buns. Not too sweet, not too big, just right. I asked the owner and he said the buns come from a bakery in Texas. I like Texas. I like these Texas buns. Cheese was great and not overpowering at all. Perfect and I highly recommend it. As for the Greek food....truly the best Hummus and Pita in town that I have had (and I have been to most of them) My wife had a Chicken salad and I am sad I did not get a picture. Large, fresh and the meat was plentiful. Kids got the Pita Melt (awesome) and the Jr. KC..which is a small chicken Gyro without onions. I was hoping we would have leftovers but we mowed it all down. I did not get the fries but they looked great. This burger is SOLIDLY in the top 5 under $10 burgers in town. Clearly, this is not run by a Greek family, because nothing is made on-house, or authentic. I got the hummus and pita starter, and they both looked, and tasted, like they were from a grocery store. The pita's were really think and had been toasted so that the edges were almost crisp, and the hummus was so thick, and not whipped at all. I also got the gyro and salad combo. The salad had two olives, and had thinly sliced soggy tomatoes. And it was saturated in dressing, rather than just drizzled and then tossed to get a good coating. And the gyro was just not very flavorful. It was about as bland as the hummus, and tasted more like onions than anything else. I travel every week for work, and absolutely love Greek/Mediterranean food, and eat it probably twice/week while I travel. This was a huge disappointment. read more

This is not the most authentic Greek restaurant, but for Mississippi I believe it's the closest I've tasted. The lamb is always fresh, food is cooked to order and they are super friendly. I have had the burger, it's not out of this world but it is good. I usually have the lamb gyro without lettuce and tomatoes. It comes packed with lamb and the Tzatziki is above average, however I think it would help to put it on the side for to-go orders. The warm lamb made the sauce warm and it lost some of its freshness. For the serving size I think the prices are spot on. Their fries are homemade from fresh cut potatoes, I love that! First time going to this place and I don't regret going. Staff was friendly and food was delicious. Had the classic lamb gyro with all the toppings. They aren't stingy with portions, I was satisfied. Service is always good. They greet you quickly upon arrival and take less than 10 minutes to get your order to you! I haven't had a meal here that I don't enjoy. My new favorite would have to be the gyro burger. My mouth is watering now just thinking about the lamb that's on this burger. The bread is sourdough and it fits he burger perfectly. The fries are an added bonus. You can't go wrong with this burger. I've been told that all the burgers are delicious, I can't speak for that because I always stick to this one. My favorite gyro is the Krilaki, if you haven't caught on yet, I LOVE their lamb. The chicken is exceptional as well. I don't like to order chicken if I'm eating out but theirs is worth a try. The shrimp gyro is good! How about I just say EVERYTHING IS GOOD INCLUDING THE SERVICE!! CON: PARKING!!!!! PARKING!!! PARKING!!! This is my favorite Gyro salad! I end up getting the dressing on the side so it's 2 meals for me. It comes with toasted pita. The French fries here are also delicious. It's best to call in your order ahead of time if you are in a hurry because sometimes it takes awhile for your food to arrive. Driving through Jackson and it's lunchtime. Want something fast, but not fast food. This was perfect. I got the Gyro combo with a Greek salad and my husband got the mixed meat Gyro platter combo with a salad. We divided and conquered. I grabbed a table while he ordered. The salad was out in five minutes, followed shortly by our gyros. This is a great lunch stop. In town for training and so glad I did my diligent research on Yelp and got to experience this place. First off, I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say these were the best fries I've ever had. They were fresh cut, right out the fryer, hot, crispy and delish. I ate every last fry on my plate. I have high standards when it comes to Greek food having lived in Greece as kid. We love this place! We usually do take out or delivery, but it's a staple for us. Best pita in town! They gyro is different than most other places, it's chopped finely. They may not be some people's preference, but we don't mind it at all. They have great combos, my husband usually gets the gyro combo and the French fries are delicious!
