When one of the hands fell off my Ebel watch, I took it to Tropiano, and got it back in great shape within a reasonable amount of time for a reasonable price. A year or two ago, I went there with some diamond jewelry that I was not wearing. The staff members were SO patient and helpful. They turned my aunt's engagement ring diamond from the 1940's into a beautiful pendant. Even more astonishing was the by-pass ring they designed and created from two diamonds. It had been…read moreat that location for decades, and had an excellent reputation for being a clock master for old time pieces, capable of raising ancient chronometers from the dead with an inventory of parts not available to modern jewelers. Their collection of grandfather clocks included historic machines that had played a part in the American Revolutionary War. Legend tells us that the very time keeper present in the room where Washington planned his Christmas Eve crossing of the Delaware River leading to the Battle of Trenton, had been repaired several times by this master clocksmith, and resided there for extended periods before the local historic commission was finally formed and took possession of this and many other important irreplaceable objects. A visit to the Half Moon Inn/courthouse a few streets away will grant you an introduction to this very clock, where it continues to keep time to this day. So, the clock shop may be gone, but it's most famous visitor still exists a short walk away on Court Street. If clocks could talk, what tales it would tell!
