However, during the visit, I was surprised and uncomfortable with comments made by the dentist regarding our family's infant feeding choices, especially given the fact that my son was well past the infant feeding stage and had/has no known oral hygiene or development issues. Specifically, I was told that formula feeding from a bottle was "unfortunate" and that "this practice likes our babies breastfed". While I understand there may be clinical reasons for discussing feeding and oral development, the delivery felt judgmental and inappropriate given the context and timing. I hope the practice considers a more sensitive approach when discussing personal family decisions with patients and gets a complete medical history from parents before making them feel ashamed for their feeding decisions.

I didn't see an OR for emergencies but we also didn't come in with any issues. The hygienist saw her first and the doc came behind to look at the mouth add some additional notes. Our kiddo still has those baby teeth which we expect will fall out in the next year. Doc and hygienist were great. All in all an easy visit in and out in 30 mins. Long story short his concern led to her pediatrician (who had to clear her for surgery) sending her to an ear nose and throat specialist. In the new office, they have a gold coin to give to them where they can pick from several candy ball-like machines as a prize. The initial phone call was very simple and I was able to schedule an appointment for an initial visit and cleaning and they also emailed the documents to complete prior to my visit so that I could be prepared beforehand. When we arrived, there was plenty of parking available outside. We were greeted by a friendly woman at the front desk and were able to quickly check-in and hang over our paperwork. The kids were able to play with the toys and they lit up once they saw the gaming space (one tv had Minecraft and the other had a Super Mario game.) Every single dental assistant and hygienist was VERY friendly and just so sweet and welcoming. They were so kind to my 3 year old daughter who joined me for the appointment and even included her (she has never been to a dentist just yet). Dr. Shoemaker is awesome! So bubbly and friendly, he came in and greeted us, started chatting with my son and instantly made him feel comfortable. We never once felt rushed or out of place. It was very warm and happy experience for both of my kiddos! My son's cleaning and exam was successful, then they allowed both kids to pick out a prize and even gave them balloons. They offer private rooms at an additional $100 (optional) but only in the mornings and if you agree to a private room once- the office categorizes you as a patient who can graduate from that room but only based on the discretion of the people who are getting paid by such private room⁉They will refuse to schedule an appt with a regular room moving forward. You are stuck paying for the private room and front desk can't do anything about it. This feels unethical and not in the best interest of your patients. Every other dental office will offer you a private room due to hipaa and osha ( this is a clear violation) and not charge additional. The only difference is there is a door here and not a partition. At this office they make it so the chairs sit SO close together like in a dental college ( a dental bay is a clear osha violation) - that naturally the parent will request that private room bc all it takes is one crying child to scare the others. Either way, you do have to agree to it so it's not a secret either but again feels off and completely on purpose! This area is like the, "nicest," in the neighborhood I guess and the other offices around are pretty old, making it so that these type of businesses provide care in a different way, more like you're a number and not a person. The slide and toys are nice but not what most important here. It's too bad bc Dr.Diaz was very kind and the hygienists were lovely as well. She told me he will be done in less than a year. I think it's awesome that he is getting a degree in ortho to make his office even better than it is now! Some people wrote that each time they come to the office, there is a new doctor. NOT true, you can request the same doctor, there are only two others. But what century are these people living in? I NEVER see my regular annual doctor but always see his assistant or nurse practitioner whichever one is available. It's the same concept here people. This office even has a 24 hour emergency number. My daughter fell off her bike and hit her front tooth year ago. Dr Allen opened the office at 6 o'clock on a Sunday to look at her. Each time we go to this office everyone is very professional. When we get there we are always taken back at our appointment time and all the girls there from the front reception area, hygienist, to the x-rays lady is pain free and nice.
