I checked out 4 martial arts studios 8 months ago, thinking I would choose karate. Krav Maga Spokane invited me to attend a class to see if it was for me BEFORE I made a decision. I was given a choice of membership options. I first chose a 3-month contract, then reupped for a 12-month contract. I have learned SO much! The classes are strenuous, but fun, extremely diverse, and truly inspiring. The instructors are also diverse, dedicated, helpful, patient, and will stay to answer my many questions. I can tell they've done their homework to provide the most helpful curriculum available. They have special holiday events that keep things interesting and fresh! I think Brayson and Team have created something really special. If you are curious, attend a class and make up your own mind. Sometimes I am a drippy, sweaty mess after class, but I love it so much! Can't get a clear answer on pricing. I have special circumstances and need to pay per session instead of a bundle but I'm being told I have to come in to discuss it with someone. I don't trust companies that are secretive about the cost of using their service. If it's not published publicly they can change it and charge anyone whatever they agree to. I came into this gym, six and a half weeks ago, to learn more about their "six-week-challenge." While I'd seen the gym, and had a cursory understanding of what Krav-Maga is, (It's Hebrew for "close combat") I walked in expecting an elaborate sales pitch. I was not prepared for what I found. The first thing I remember hearing was the cost of the deposit. My brain stuck for a moment. In my mind were blaring klaxons, flashing strobes, and a generalized panic had overtaken the imaginary occupants I've envisioned residing in my skull since Calvin and Hobbes introduced the idea to me. SO-MANY-DOLLARS?!?!? Now I figured I'd maintained my composure, and made sure my "poker-face," was still functioning, before asking with verve and clarity, "Fubba-huh-wha?!?" The smile I received in response told me of the countless times this very question had been asked. With a level of patience reserved for Zen Masters & Jedi Knights, George proceeded to lay forth the terms. - check-in to each workout - Three workouts per week - Strict dietary restrictions I'm positive there were more, but these were the general ones that stuck in my mind. I was intrigued and asked about the history of Krav-Maga. This was the first time I saw the passion for the art light up this instructor, like a child describes a joyful holiday memory. The sales pitch itself really was absent the whole encounter... no high-pressure pitch, basic terms for a 100% refund, and instructors as dedicated to the safety & well-being of the students, as they are to perfecting their own craft. I left, mumbling something non-committal about discussing it with my wife, but I was intrigued. Mind you, it wasn't insincere, but the kind of money involved is tricky to come by for a family with 5 kids. I took my information home to let my wife shoot the idea from the sky. I tried to remember the best, most salient points... "Can they take it in payments?" She'd abandoned all reservations about me taking this shot. I guess somewhere around 325lbs, she started worrying about the long-term health benefits of my weight. She was behind this idea, ENTIRELY! Over the course of the coming weeks, I came to understand what they meant by, "challenge." These folks wanted to challenge you physically, to move in new ways. Challenge you mentally, to help appreciate every moment. Challenge your spirit to help you find what you came to the gym for in the first place. The one thing they weren't trying to challenge, was my wallet. They ℒℴℯ motivation, and work with those who want to put forth the effort. As I write these words I've lost more than the weight... I have lost some things about myself. I've lost the excuses, the insecurity and the doubt. Burned away in the fires of determination and the remains drowned in lactic acid. This was a challenge to my lifestyle, which offered me an alternative to a lifetime of obesity, and poor dietary choices. This challenge was mental and psychological for me; it taught me that I still have it in me to rise to a challenge. And that deposit? Fully refunded upon successful completion of the goal. 100% return. As I reflect on the experience, I realized something about the money; I'd have gladly paid many times over for the results I've seen. The money is nothing compared with what they've given me. They've given me my old belts back. They've given me a new structure to eat by, so I'm not constantly hungry. They've given me an emotional outlet that used to be filled with destructive habits. Krav-Maga has given me The opportunity to put a mark in the "Win," column. They have allowed me to awaken something long dormant inside of me. They, while teaching situational awareness, and self-defense... have very likely saved my life in many more ways than I'd thought possible. Ultimately, it's in your hands. It's been 5 years since my last review, and I'm very excited to still be giving Krav Maga Spokane 5-Stars. Still very well maintained facility always cleanly. It's so great to have multiple showers, restrooms, and workout spaces under one roof. All the instructors really own their education and pursue challenging courses to grow themselves. Krav Maga Spokane is an outstanding gym. I have had the privilege to training here in Spokane for the past six weeks. My job takes me all over the country and I get to train with Krav gyms and fellow Krav students from time to time. The Spokane staff/instructors is a fantastic group and go the extra mile to ensure they deliver the best training day in and day out. Not only are the instructors awesome but the students are amazing and make everyone feel comfortable on the gym as Krav can be a very intimidating at times. Great place to train Krav Maga and get in shape. The coaches are all very knowledgeable and put a lot of work into developing their students as individuals. There are a ton of different programs, and the gym is always working to add more. I feel that you can really become a well rounded martial artists at Krav Maga Spokane. I've had a great experience with the other guys and gals that train here, too. Absent are the egos and attitudes that can be found at other martial arts gyms. Be careful of this place! I work next door to Krav Maga and initially thought it would be a good fit. Definitely not the case. Checked out the facilities in July 2016. Received a text right after telling me that they'd give me two weeks free if I came in and signed the contract by the next morning, (ha, it worked!). Biggest mistake I've made. I had just moved to Spokane and ended up working 12 hour shifts daily. I couldn't make it due to work and the fact that they only have a few sessions a day. $107.00 with the military discount. In October I sent a detailed email explaining that due to long hours and no childcare as a single parent I needed to cancel the contract. They responded telling me I had to pay 50% of what was left (400ish). They did not attach a cancellation form or tell me that I needed to fill one out. They pissed me off so I didn't reply. They continued to pull payments and again didn't mention anything about a cancellation form until 2017 when I emailed again and asked why they hadn't stopped the contract. They responded that I simply needed to fill out the cancellation form... the one they never sent to me in October. In late Spring I filed a report on their business and they promptly cancelled the contract and then asked me to cancel the report. They did not issue me a refund of any type. I've never attended one session and frankly, with their response last October I never would've. Brayson, you will never have any service from any of the many people I meet daily due to the lack of service I received from your business. Hope you enjoy the over $1,000 you received from a person that works their butt off daily in the military to support their small child. I will never recommend your business to anyone I meet. read more
