When I moved to Spokane, I was was on the search for a new gym to fit my needs and the needs of my family (I have two young kids 5 and 6). After dropping in for at least one class at all the local prospect Jiu Jitsu and MMA gyms, in the Spokane area. Newborn Cascão stood out head and shoulders above the rest. The kids classes are very well ran with, a good mix of fun, games and technical knowledge. All the coaches are patient with the young students and help with major and minor technical instruction. The adult classes are incredible as well. The instruction is nothing short of top tier and the students are a great mix of professionals fighters, causal material artists and beginners, as well as everything in between. All this paired with a friendly helpful gym atmosphere. Makes this not only one of the best gyms, I've ever trained at but, also one if not of my favorite gyms.

I had no idea what this consisted of but wanted my son who was 9 at the time, to try something new and physical. We had no idea how much he would love it. Coach Eli and Coach Nikki have created a gym that welcomes and encourages everyone with open arms. They are dedicated and have become family. My son has learned to be more respectful, has more confidence in himself, is getting stronger, has made new friends, and has found passion in a sport that can also help him to protect himself. The other really cool thing about this gym is that all of the Professors and Coaches offer different teaching styles and techniques. It's fun, challenging, and they teach something new everyday with a different focus each week. I've been coming to Sparta Training Academy for about 3 weeks now. I trained in Aikido a lifetime…read moreago and being over 50 now I was a bit reluctant to jump into BJJ. I shouldn't have worried. Professor Devin was great and my first time I showed up for what I didn't realize was an intermediate/advanced class. Everyone in the class was great. I rolled with three different people, all of whom could have smashed me if they wanted to, but they worked with my lack of training. They didn't go "easy" on me but tempered their responses. STA has a fantastic kids program. I've watched the kids rolling before my class starts and they are enthusiastic and obviously having fun. I highly recommend STA.
